Ayyy I just did this mission in the DLC a week or two ago. That KGC scared the shit out of me, strictly because I turned a corner and got two AC-20 rounds to my LT out of nowhere. I mean I used my MAD II to Pulse Laser its cockpit out, but was a fun experience nonethless
I wish you were recording your mic, because even with the crappy AI, a king crab is still gonna make you scream in a wild panic. Anyone here do that questline where you get that heroic KGC with the 4 UAC-5s? Remember your reaction when it showed up and unloaded everything it had on you? Mine was pretty high pitched, and that’s WITH two other human pilots on my team.
@@DIEGhostfishMy group's only done that one the once. I'm sure if we did it again, we'd be able to grab the MAD2, but our current playthrough isn't there yet. Also, that does assume we'd keep it-By that point in our playthrough, I'm pretty sure we had multiple atlases, and though the MAD2 is great, it would definitely be a debate on whether keeping it was worth the upkeep costs.
@@bluesbreaker6657 Could always just shove it in cold storage so you don't have to pay upkeep costs and figure it out later, it's what I do with most of the mech I save so I don't run a multi-million c-bill upkeep. And as for the heroic KGC surprising me and dumping it's round on me, yes I performed a panic 'oh shit!', lost my left arm, then promptly dumped my atlas' tier 4 ac20 RF into the cockpit
Never been a fan of the KGC because I thought it's kinda one dimensional. Recently actually looked into it and it can bite at range in table top. It's not great at it but it's not defenseless up until it closes with you like some other mechs. I am begging to warm up to it a lot.
@sirflapfla97 The tonnage for that second AC20 is coming from somewhere, and the LL is five tons, which is more than the Atlas's mediums put together. Giving up 5 LRMs and maybe some ammo ain't buying it back, nor are they different speeds
This would've been terrifying if not for the game's AI.
And the KC's cockpit being the size of the Enterprise bridge.
Ya... nothing has changed since Mechwarrior2
It's a testament to how good this game is when it has the WORST. A.I. IN. GAMING. HISTORY. and YET it's still a ton of fun to play.
@@slayerd357 it doesn't have much competition so its more about the only thing to play for its game type
Coyote's AI probably would have headshot him with dual AC20s. headhunter ais are no joke.
The way the AI reacted makes me think its the Atlas that ambushed the King Crab not the other way around.
You can't ambush an Atlas. Atlas the ultimate scout mech
Steiner is proud of you
Well it's an atlas, the damned thing is a walking sledgehammer few can contend with let alone stop
your lucky the ai cant hit for crap or you would get two ac/20's to the ct
Arms actually....AI have an OBSCENE obsession with shooting arms off.....I have many a screenshot to prove it.
@@CMDRFandragon Yeaaah, I always lost my gun arm on my centurion. Arms always are the first to go almost

The Spider is just happy to be incl-- Oop, nevermind.
I remember this one.
KC ambushed me in CQC. Too bad for it I was piloting a fullydecked out Agincourt.

That's a nightmare mission, but you can walk away with 2 hundred tonners if you damage the MAD2 just right, or have more salvage via mods

Snoipin's a good job, mate.
Happened to me too, but my twin-UAC5s reduced him to rubble in short order!
Oh no call a medievac... but not for me!

Much better than the Atlas, which is it's only real peer until the Clan Invasion. It has better firepower at just about every range than the Atlas.
King crabs my favorite, look into the clanbuster version, it's amazing. 2 gauss rifles, er large and some missiles.
@derkylos Worse armor, though, and worse command kit.
@@DIEGhostfish armor is about equal, command kit depending on the variant is better than the atlas

Vanilla King Crab, KGC-0000 loadout actually makes it have weaker armor. That's why I put two LBX 10 instead.
How do you get the jump on someone with TWO AC/20's and fail to not even take a limb?
Both have easy to hit cockpits, at least the Atlas has better build diversity
