Thanks to MOVGAMES for getting the disc and going the extra mile by dumping it online and documenting differences in a PDF. Please check out MOVGAMES! th-cam.com/video/QvK9ppK2n_o/w-d-xo.html
This is absolutely unreal and such an insane step forward for the community! Sweet 16 II, Jester, and Fandango are just extraordinary and the Burnout Glacier cut areas!! Dreams do come true!!!!
For further reading, here's my video upload covering the unused pre final / cut dialogue lines mentioned in the PDF for ease of access: th-cam.com/video/2rggmQ0yIY4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c-jjj8kdAdQG-sgP There's also even earlier dialogue for mission 1's cutscene featuring placeholder va's hiding in one of the prototype's files: th-cam.com/video/QIV22dcncKM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3zuM6sjPirvfAIIT Oh, and I should probably mention that I had never even touched Velocity X in my life before obtaining this, I'm just THAT dedicated to game preservation :) I don't want to hear the Challenge Music again for a long time though... so many hours...
I’m mindblown at how much is different over the current version in JUST A FEW MONTHS! this is awesome and hope there’s a way to port this and some stuff over 🎉
Rewatching this is always a joy, and makes me genuinely realize how important game preservation is, whether its in the normal game market or the obscene collector's beta market. @MOVGAMES. is a legend to this small but passionate community for being so generous in the mindset he has for it, and gamers in general. Thank you for staying so passionate Overdrive through our busy lives, and MOV for spiking our excitement ^^
Will absolutely be watching this throughout the rest of tonight, it's already so much fun and almost surreal to me seeing someone so well versed with the game awe at all the differences of something I managed to release! Also thank you for immediately confirming that the physics are different, I played the final PS2 build back to back a lot when researching the build and I did think it felt off but wasn't sure if it was placebo.
Currently 2 hours 30 minutes in, please tell me you went back to Joyride Burnout Glacier haha. The entire map is insanely early outside of the starting area. Every single mode has the maps in different stages of completion so it can get kinda deceiving.
@@overdrive_srs Mission 3's race constantly crashing is funny because it worked first time when I got the build... and then refused to work again afterwards. Tried at least half a dozen times when recording the gameplay and it just wouldn't load.
As someone wbo played Velocity X a ton as a kid, seeing this makes me think I stepped into some parrell dimension. Like it's crazy how much changed in so little time, from cut stage elements to cars and other changes to missions. And seeing that there was going to be 30 challenges and that "stunt mode" on the menu blew my mind. Makes me wonder what other stuff was planned ror this gae
After all the stuff i've seen of early assets/versions of popular old games being found these days, it's nice to see a less acknowledged game also get a huge find. There was so much great stuff to see in this, worth the whole watch
damn, very disappointing at 53:00 about burnout glacier. i heard from a dev that they never finished the collision for that part of the city, but i was hoping it was somewhat completed :( EDIT: according to the PDF detailing the differences provided, the joyride version of burnout glacier has the collision intact! so uh, its time to play with that lol
Fandango and other cars were probably removed because there’s only so many ways you can mix and match the car settings: speed, grip, etc. and it probably would have meant many duplicate cars in terms of settings
The difficulties don't seem to do anything in this build, since the CPUs' health stays the same and the time stays the same despite changing the difficulty
I have a sneaky suspicion that they ran out of provided memory/space for the game and sent this version to a company to clean up and optimize the game. There were soooo many coding/design inefficiencies with this version, I can see why so many things were changed. The entire time you were streaming this play through, the constant sudden cuts and restarts of music and audio files gave the game an ominous and subliminal feel 😅
Is there anyway to burn this disc as it was never sold and is for PC. I know many of us that would love to play a copy and continue the exploration. Amazing find. (Edit) just saw it has been archived

@@MOVGAMES. I’m pretty sure I did at some point in the stream. There was also a point where I went through the PDF.

dude, what a send off of the year! this is awesome!
Dude it looks like there is a ramp in the turbine sands down town area in between two buildings leading to another building!.
Cool video btw!
put a link to the internet archive page for the release in the description so people dont have to hunt for it. thanks for recording this!
There we go!
I wonder if it's possible to mod the pre-release version cars & Burnout Glacier joyride into the finished version...
The Cutting Room Floor is gonna have a *field day* documenting all this stuff!

Actually, you will be very happy to see that there is a lot of collision out there in Joyride mode specifically!
3:19:20 frion bomb freezing the game, that's just too perfect

Cursed Hotwheels VelocityX
35:59 The Developers were like
“Kill Jester.”
Should of set game difficulty to very easy for more time. Unless that wasn't a thing yet in this build.
