  • Experimental bicopter using A2212 1400KV motors with 30 Amp ESC, and 9" propellers. Corona DS-319MG servos.

    You either have a lot of vibrations going on or the gyro gain is set too high because those servo's are constantly twitching.
    I'd also recommend not launching that close to your face, getting hit by those props will cut you up real bad.

    Bicopter looks great. Good work! I've built two dualcopters and both servos wobble like yours when the yaw 'P' is set to high. Recommend lowering yaw 'P' to zero and gradually increase until the wobble appears and then back it off a bit. Let us know if this works.

    You should use PID controller to reduce vibration, looks like it balanced the bi copter without using PID control and directly from sensor data. Very good design!

    Why should not we use 1045 prop on 2200kv motor

      Its a really good question.. i will have a go at answering it!!! a lower Kv (I.E 1000Kv) will spin slower and hence have more torque and will spin a bigger propeller. I high Kv like 2200Kv will spin quicker but have less torque so cant handle the big propellers. The Kv number multiplied by the battery voltage gives you the RPM. So for the same battery your 2200Kv will spin at more than twice the speed of the 1000Kv. I hope that helps, i tend to keep it simple and stick with just one motor propeller combination.

    Mr.Fid, what if you only had one set of servos set up to adjust the weight of the battery on the bottom and secured the motor to be a solid mount ? It's very cool ! I often dream of building a mansize bicopter like the one from the movie (about the spy kid?).

      flight time was about 10 minutes. The frame was made for a small multiwii board, but i am sure you could fit a raspberry pi in there somewhere? the zero (if you can find one) is very small

    You could probably make this go horizontal and fly like a plane. VTOL. Flies faster and farther but lands in q smaller and more controlled area

    Very innovative. Do you need both servos? I wonder if part of your oscillations are coming from the two servos fighting each other. You might disable one servo and see if that helps.

      +Tom Busey I don't think you could get away with only having one servo as it uses both to control the yaw, one goes one way the other reverse. for forward and back it uses both together in the same direction. (if that makes sense)

    Is the vibration from over compensation? (Oh I see someone mention balancing propellers) might be more responsive with higher kv/smaller diameter propellers, easier on torque for the servos too.

      its a control thing! to much proportional gain? it was made loads worse by quicker servos.

      +Brandon Piner ​Its a very good point! I have to be honest out of all the model I have built this one needed the most setting up and tuning and even then its still a work in progress. And I don't think it will ever be as good as a quad / hex or tri!!I changed the servos to high speed ones and if you can believe it, it got worse!

    In my frame i cant put servo.So can i make it without servo ??

      you need the ability for both motors to move. the servos drive the Bicopter forwards and backwards and control yaw.

      @@aasishkharel the servos are an important part of the control, if the bicopter starts to wonder forwards, thern the servos will tilt the motors back to stop it. and if it starts to spin then one will go forwards and one will go backwards to counteract the spin. my design can't work without servos. the only movement which doesn't require servos is left and right movements where one motor is speeded up and the other slowed so it moves sideways (left and right as you see the picture)

      Not well! it really doesn't like wind and you run out of travel quickly! i am sure if you persevered with it you could get it to work very well, but i ran out of time!

      +BadIdeas101 On this Flight control board you can use a Bluetooth connection to a tablet and adjust the parameters PID rates and other bits!

      the multiwii flight control board has the 6050mpu (6 axis gyro/accel)

      this was an early test, the PID settings needed to be adjusted to stop the shaking.

      +kwa Thankd for the kind comments!I have to be honest and say its not very manoeuvrable, its ok in the calm but any bit of wind will upset it. I didn't go any further with this design, and made a nice Tricopter! th-cam.com/video/xHxOtwtWpd8t/w-d-xo.htmlhe battery life was ok, 10+ minutes. and maybe with a bit more time and playing with the design and control parameters it could be better?
