I had my first son in my teens. I know the night he was conceived. My mission was to spend as much time as possible with him. I knew his stay at home mom was tired so I'll take him to the park afterbirth finish work to give his mom some free time. After 3 months of his birth his mom changed. My son said dada at 1 month old. Somehow his mom got angry at my son and I bonding. She left me took the kid and I never saw him again until 13 yrs later. I'm the going to give the whole story. I said all of that just to say, I miss being an active father in my son's life. Great job sir.

Thank you for the amazing experiences that will last a lifetime. Even the little things, such as finding a little dive to eat lunch, or going hunting for shells on the beach every night are the memories that will stay with us for our lives. As acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. Your own thoughts are so perfect that made me value and respect your opinion too.

Thanks for sharing Ryan, kanchanaburi is definitely a town with a lot going for it and of course you would have seen a lot of changes since you were there but at the same time I'm sure it still felt very familiar.
Otis is a very well behaved child indeed and full credit for that goes to you and Damo and probably too some extent Damos mum who I'm sure gets involved a fair bit with the kids.
Enjoy the trip mate, every day is another memory for you and Otis. Stay safe mate

i will be traveling back to Thailand this week to stay (until new year) at my house 2km from Chang Arena in Buri Ram, i love the fact it's not touristy, but if it wasn,t for family Kanchanaburi would be one of the places i would move to, i loved all the time i have spent there. Next year i will finish work and transition my life over to Thailand, i feel more at home there than i do in my country.

Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing this break with us and I fully appreciate that there are days when you just want to enjoy time together with Otis away from vlogging. Otis is a credit to you and Damo and you are both constantly stimulating your children, not that Hugo needs much stimulating as he is a real live wire! Taking an interest in what they are doing and helping them explore the world and discover things is, in my mind, one of the many privileges, that parents enjoy, thus establishing a bond that will last a lifetime. Kanchanaburi is indeed a lively place, but with some nice quiet spots too. May God bless you both and keep you safe and of course Damo, Hugo and the in-laws at home. 😀❤🙏

The essence of the area travels thru the screen. Otis puts the being into human. Rather than most in the West who operate from the doing. He is a wonderful example of what draws me to Thailand as his nature speaks to the Buddha faith that underlies. Thank you for giving me another option to retire at. A female veteran with a service connected injury it seems like it would be so good for my soul and pocketbook. And thank you for your intuitive and natural gift in creating such rich video content, appreciatively, 🙏

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Kanchanaburi. 10 years ago when I came here I did not especially like it. Now I chose this place as one of the places I stay. VERY good choice especially as I am a golfer. Ahahaha. And yes. It's recently growing FAST. New Motorway open in the weekends creating even a traffic jam especially in the Robinson crossing at times.

Great video; everyone is moving overseas. I live in Thailand. I live in an older condo in Pattaya (a 5-minute scooter ride to the beach). It is all concrete, so the rooms are quiet (I have a video of the condo). I am on the ninth floor, so the sunsets are great, and I do not have much trouble with mosquitoes or road noise. We have a large pool with a slide. There is a restaurant by the pool; most meals are 3-7 dollars. My rent is $207/month. I have a new wall unit A/C, that I run 24/7 and my electric bill is $30/month. My room is 270 square feet or 30 square meters. It has plenty of room for a single guy. I have no plans to move back to the States.

There’re a few places there on the nearby lakes that have floating accommodation. Not the tourist ones but those for locals with water slides, canoes, bouncing castles and all sorts of watersports plus quality Thai food all at reasonable rates. Rarely see a foreigner and usually advertised only in Thai as they’re targetting local parents with kids of course but heaps of fun. Highly recommend if you live in Thailand and have kids.

Hiya Ryan. Thank you for this insight. All these 'food' places you're going to with your son, has reminded me of how difficult it is in Thailand to eat healthily. If you're into heavily processed or fried foods, then Thailand isn't a problem. For those of us who don't want the modern diet of low nutritional, high fat, high carb foods, Thailand can be a nightmare. Everything has sugar in it. See a packet of peanuts or cashews - check out the second ingredient. If you're staying somewhere and can cook - not a problem. Fresh food is available but out on the streets or in the restaurants, I find it a minefield.

Looks lovely. Been there a few times but it's been ten years ago. Life in the West especially in the USA has become much less about work-life-family balance and more about earning a living in a work-obsessed culture. You look pretty close to a good balance, I am going to ask a dumb question. We live near Khon Khon we are on a road trip to Pai and Chaing Mai. Over 13 days, we have been hit with serious levels of food poisoning 3 times, my Thai wife and I on separate occasions. Are you aware of an upswing in poor food handling in parts of NW Thailand? The floods ruin the refrigeration systems? Damage the water treatment systems? We have never experienced this sort of thing here before even eating at ramdom Auntie's food carts. It's like visiting Mexico in the 1980's. 555 Yeah, I know a dumb question but what the heck? it's been a crappy trip so far, pun intended. You and Ottis have fun and may your gastrointestinal health continue with normal flora.

The majority of Thai kids are so well behaved. It's down to the parenting though and teaching them family values. There are a few kids in the village who are a bit wild. Usually down to the parents being full of Lao Khao and/or yabba. Predominantly though if the kids are from rich or poor families they are all well behaved.
