    ------------
In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

OF COURSE Victoria understood that. She did the Utd ticket thing for a laugh.

also for the joke to work she didn't need to buy a ludicrously expensive whole season ticket. Maybe it wasn't meant to be joky presents (justifying a low score) but she definitely knew, what she was doing.

I am 99.9% certain that Victoria fully understood what it meant to give such a bad present to Alan. That's what made it funny and all her previous prize tasks were only about being funny. I am positively flabbergasted to read so many comments assuming she wouldn't know the impact of her present. I'm not a big football person, but I completely get the tribalism involved. Any person knows how stupidly crazy (and crazily stupid) sports fans are in their religious devotion to "their" team, so this was definitely pure calculation and excedingly hilarious because of it.

lmao, okay, so let's imagine Victoria doesn't know that people like teams, and just randomly picked Alan's most hated team (wrongly assuming them to be currently the best team): Then we still have to imagine that she thought the best thing to bring to taskmaster for that was a *voucher* to just a *season ticket* . So not just an incredibly underwhelming voucher instead of the ticket itself, the voucher is also for something completely non-special and uninteresting from a taskmaster perspective.
So basically, what is suggested here is that Victoria a.) doesn't understand the most basic and well known part of football culture, b.) doesn't know how to give a gift and c.) doesn't understand entertainment
Ye I reckon it was a serious gift

I totally understand Voctoria's lack of understanding of football. It's a religion. It's bizarre behaviour. You vicariously live through your team's fortunes as if kicking a ball into a goal was life or death for your family. Your team is your identity and other teams are dispised enemies. A rational person not brought up in the culture really does view the whole thing with bemused incomprehension.

  • @jenniferlawrence1372

Unpopular opinion: I came into this series knowing Alan from QI and not knowing anyone else but VCM. The more I watch Alan interact with VCM, the more he bothers me. He views the riddle task as her not listening to him, and of course, there is a lot edited out, but if you play it back, he wasn't communicative about having the other half of the puzzle. But he acts as if she consistently shuts him down and won't listen every time he tries to say something. His irritation with this week's prize task was real, and he didn't hide that he doesn't like her. I'll also insert here that a lot of people don't read very subtle social cues well, so may wonder where this is coming from. I read them very well.
I'm not going to name any of the -ists that are so commonly bandied about in culture these days, but I can't help but wonder if his team partner was a man, how would that have changed his behavior? Would he have pushed back? Would he have said, "No, listen, I have letters too." Would he have enjoyed the banter and teasing about the football season ticket? Of course, we won't know, but it's made me more disappointed in him and in the series, because the thing I have LOVED about this series (other than discovering Guz) is that the five really get along so well.
