    She doesn't know a single thing about trains! "Why are they blowing the horn when no one's on the tracks?" What!?? They blow the horns for the crossing in the area as it's a horn zone which saves lives! Also you chose to live near train tracks what did you expect? And hearing that her neighbor called the police because she was frustrated with the horns blowing in the middle of the night is just extremely stupid. "Yes 911 it is like 2:30am and trains are blowing their horns right beside my house and it is frustrating me!" What are the police going to do about it rip off the train horns?? Karen's like those two should just move out if trains make them that frustrated! Like seriously calling the police over train horns?

    There is a quiet zone in the downtown of the neighboring town, which is also being violated. I'm in a rural area and they blow the horns all night long for no reason except to harass people. There is no "safety" about what they are doing. My house was here before the railroad, but the railroads were not so noisy or so heavy until recent years. They have ceased to be good or even reasonable neighbors and there is no excuse for what they are doing. There are stats that show they are not saving lives with their 120 decibel horns at every crossroad for no reason all day and all night about 200 times per day. It's absurd and those arguing otherwise obviously work for the government. No sane person thinks this is reasonable.

    The tracks were there first before you immature people complain to the federal railroad administration people saying "STOP THE TRAIN HORNS, ITS DRIVING ME INSANE"
    People in other countries: were used to the train horn.
    Solution: move away from the train tracks if you don't like the horn.
    Besides, trains are important to are nation, and they have the right to blow the horn. Also, the operator of the train must blow the horn and follow railroad safety laws. Don't come crying back to someone saying that your loved one or family member was killed by a speeding train when it didn't sound the horn, that's completely your fault for complaining for the FRA to put the quiet zone in place. Like seriously, we have to blow these horns to keep people safe. And you should do your part being around trains and train tracks. And Don't ignore the railroad crossing gates or flashing lights or bells, cause if you don't, you'll end up being hurt or injured, and even worse, losing your life and dying. Thats why operation lifesaver is there to teach everyone why its dangerous to disobey the safey rules on the railroad, and its not a playground at all

      So then by logic, should motorists blow their horns at EVERY intersection they approach? How long is that going to last before you yell, "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!"
      However, if you still have the instinct to do so, I have something for you to blow. It's not a horn, but it is horn shaped.

    • @airgamer1403
      @airgamer1403 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@delanorrosey4730 Your comparison is a fallacy, motorists don't blow their horns at every crossing because intersections are guarded by red lights which are not usually ignored by people because multiple cars are crossing the intersection at once, thus increasing the chance of a collision between two cars intersecting paths should one of them run a red, and if/when a driver does choose to run a red, horns ARE sounded.
      A train horn is sounded because even though there are multiple other warning devices on a railroad crossing, people still choose to ignore them because since it is only the train crossing the car's path, the chance of collision is lower, so more drivers choose to do it, which leads to more deaths, this is where the horn comes in, it is used to capture a drivers' attention to let them know that the train is nearing the crossing, without it, the train could still be 1/4th a mile away from the crossing for all the driver knows, the horn is the only warning device in a railroad crossing situation that actually tells the driver the proximity between the train and the crossing, and as a result discourages drivers from trying to go around the crossing gates because they know how close the train is, and that the chance of collision is higher should they attempt to drive around anyway.
      I would have expected you to know this but judging by the childish nature of your last sentence, you are either too young or too stupid to comprehend real-world logic, go back to class kiddo, and come talk to the adults when you graduate.

    honestly everybody that complains about trains needs to shut the actual hell up. Train engineers work hours and hours just to help people and the country. they need to sound their horn for safety because they take a long distance to stop. Leave the trains alone. it's not like they're trying to "tramautize" your kids with a horn powered by straight up O2. Most of these trains are in the suburbs and in the city. Where also planes fly at most 5,000 feet in the air. People in Bensenville, IL made a quiet zone and got the city to WASTE THEIR OWN MONEY on installing just 2 speakers that sound like a dying trombone. In Bensenville, It's right next to Chicago O'Hare airport. They never complain about the planes. Trains pass every hour on off peak hours and rush hours it's every 20. The Planes are EVERY MINUTE AND AT LEAST 2 AT THE SAME TIME! So people need to mind their own business and also i wanna keep hearing the Metra P5As. Also, in Villa Park, IL There is a CN line and a UP line. UP is a very busy line with freight and passenger traffic. CN has only 2 trains a day on that line and has a quiet zone. the UP doesn't and has 3 tracks and right behind homes. quiet zones just don't make sense.

      It communicates nothing when the horns are so loud and without direction so you c an't even tell how close or far away they are. Constant alarms sounding are counterproductive to safety. Furthermore, the loud noises actually CAUSE accidents because drivers are startled by them. There is no reasonfor what they are doing except pure evil. They destroying innocent lives.

    I can understand it if the crossing doesn’t have a warning system, but for crossings that DO have a warning system, I don’t get it
    Trains hardly ever sound their horns at crossings where I live (with the exception of “user worked” crossings, although even then the train might not sound its horn, especially if the crossing has a red and green light system (which are usually also fitted with an alarm, the newer red and green light units have an alarm built in, but older ones will have a separate alarm if one is fitted))

    Why trains blow their horns? It’s not just something on the tracks but the federal law is that engineers have to blow their horns at RR crossings so cars or pedestrians cross the tracks!! If you do not want to live near the tracks then live somewhere else because the horn is for everyone’s safety!!

      That is bunk. Despite the Operation Lifesaver, the warning bells, lights, crossbucks, and all the rest, still 1,200 people a year are killed at crossings. Why?
      1. Inattentive. People just wander through without a care that a train is approaching. Or they regarded the first train, but didn't look out for the second train.
      2. Impatience. People don't want to wait for the train to pass.
      3. Accidental. Cars and trucks get stuck on tracks, the signals didn't work, what have you.

      @@airgamer1403 Quiet Zones can easily lose their status from the FRA. The FRA has power that they shouldn't wield because they're not the ones suffering from the train horns.
      But there has to come a time where enough has been done to alleviate railroad fatalies. It's time to stop mandating preventative measures that no longer improve the situation. Or has improved the situation to the best of its abilities.

      @@delanorrosey4730 Quiet Zones lose their status when the FRA finds that the crossing itself does not have enough safety features (gates on all both lanes of the road and barriers between both lanes of traffic) to make up for the lack of the horn, it absolutely should have the power it does because without it nobody else would regulate safety on the railroad. Nobody is "suffering" from train horns, yes, some people may be annoyed by it, but there is a fine line between being annoyed by something, and actually suffering as a result of it. And finally, if you want to prevent any crashes from happening, the best thing to do is to eliminate the grade crossing altogether and replace it with either an overpass or an underpass, as this would eliminate any risk of collision completely.

    • @delanorrosey4730
      @delanorrosey4730 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airgamer1403 All of those solutions require exorbitant amounts of money just to alleviate FRA regulations. Neither residents can afford to do so nor the railroads can afford maintenance.
      If the FRA wants the authority to remove Quiet Zone status from crossings, then that means the FRA should have to put in those countermeasures. That means much higher taxes for all.
      Otherwise, it is up to the FRA to either develop a more viable solution to the problem or give the residents the authority to remedy the situation. If that includes permanent Quiet Zones or fining the railroads for every time they sound the horn for non-emergencies (and thereby up the costs of shipping for all), then so be it.

    If you can't stand the horns move somewhere else, it's that simple. The train crews can try to be as quiet as safely possible but problems happen with railroad crossings and then they have no choice. These quiet zones are never truly going to be full "quiet" zones. As your reporter said (and I’m paraphrasing) “..even at two thirty in the morning as shown by this video..” The video was not shot at 230am - the train in the video is a Commuter Rail train passing by which do not operate at those hours as you can see by looking at the schedule. Also, if you look at the sky, it is either dawn or dusk, not the middle of the night. Oversight on details like that can incite a bigger issue within the community.

    Train Tracks have Trains. Trains have Horns. And if you live next to a busy Commuter Railroad like the MBTA, YOU'D BETTER expect to hear those horns at least 10 times a day.
    If you don't like trains blowing their horns, MOVE AWAY from the Train Tracks. It's not that hard. I live next to train tracks myself, and I have NEVER complained about train horns, because at the end of the day, we chose to live here. The train tracks aren't going anywhere, but YOU can if you don't like it.
    Always remember Karens: Stop, Look, Listen, Live, and if you get stuck on the train tracks and can't get off, you'd better get out of your vehicle. Vehicles can be replaced, but your lives cannot be.

Seriously, a person trying to just simply sleep at night, only to be awaken to the horn. If the U.S. wants to have railroads as good as Europe's, then they need to GET RID of these rules in such locations.
