    • @radamik
      @radamik 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      One significant factor is this song sounded completely unlike what came before it - truly new at the time. In many ways the early 70s were culturally an extension of the 60s but finally by 1975-76 the decade was getting its own identity and its sound and in many cases look were fresh and inspired. There was a sense of moving away from the commotion of pop culture that had defined the previous 10 years.

    • @tommy553013

      @@radamik I think there is a lapsus between 1970 and 1976; Funk music, hustle, soul. But I agree with how music changed in 10 years. In 2011 is so different than today in many ways, specially in information technology and music and ideas. The period of time is like you´ve said ten years.

    • @radamik
      @radamik 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Around 1975 it seemed like many - not all - aspects of pop culture started going off on a tangent that was pretty original with only a hint of derivation from the past. And much of it was in an urban setting - New York lost much of its early 70s dreariness (as seen in the movie the French Connection) and had a vitality fueled by new Broadway shows, fashion, design, and especially disco, even before Studio 54 opened - the energy was symbolized by the city now being called “The Big Apple.”

    70's...what more can be said about that decade. Beautiful time and place. Music is untouchable. Times were simple and easy. Everyone who experienced it will tell you that. Unlike how it is now life was good then. Needs to be that way now. Good music, good times, just simply having fun and common sense.

    While in Virginia at my Aunt & Uncles house One of my Uncle's friends told us about a new Roller- Skating Rink had opened up. After we had a barbecue we decided
    to check the rink out and see what it was like. We got to the rink and went in and it was ultra -modern and very beautiful . We all sat down and put our skates on.
    and stayed with my Mother & my Aunt Rose. There were some people there who knew my Uncle & my Mother. They were very happy to see them and hung out with
    us. My cousins Bruce & Sandy were happy hanging out with my sisters and my Girlfriend Debbie. The people there were excellent skaters and a lot of fun to watch. My
    Uncle, Aunt, and my cousins went out and skated a while. The DJ'S were playing really awesome music that made us ready to do some serious skating . My Mother told
    us to relax and put on a Pro Roller - Skating Show!!! My Aunt Rose was having fun with us and my Girlfriend Debbie was really having fun with us as well. Later to kick
    off the opening of the new rink. The owner decided to have a skating contest consisting of just families only. The Prize package was $ 2,000.00 cash and Custom Rink
    jackets and Skate Gear. Everyone was excited including us. My mother told me, " Allie Don't get crazy, have fun and load the ARSENAL"!!!! Then wait for my directions.
    all of us were FIRED UP!!! and ready to DESTROY the skate floor. The contest got underway and every family there competed and were fun to watch. One family went out
    and did an awesome routine and led the contest. My Uncle, Aunt & my cousins went out and ELECTRIFIED everyone else. A couple people came up to my uncle and said,'
    You guys were really GOOD!!!! My uncle then said, "If you think we were good"!!! Wait till you see my sister and her family take the floor"!!! All HELL is about to BREAK LOOSE!!!
    Then my Mother told me, " Use the "CANNON" & the "TOMCAT"!!!! We heard this song start to play and my energy went MAGNUM NUCLEAR!!!!! We got on the skate floor
    and my mother SCREAMED , "LEVEL The BUILDING"!! "NO PRISONERS"!!!! that just turned my energy up EVEN MORE"!!! My Mother, my Aunt Rose,& my sister Nancy were
    dancing lead and behind them were my sister Eva, Caroline, me, and my Girlfriend Debbie!!!! We got in the middle of the skate floor and DESTROYED IT!!!!! Everyone started
    feeling MAGNUM Energy!!!! My Mother, My Aunt Rose and my sister Nancy move to the side. Then we took over and my Mother SCREAMED "CANNON" then I fired Debbie
    and Caroline high in the air and spun around while I caught them!!!! Then my Mother SCREAMED "TOMCAT" and I threw my Girlfriend around like a stuffed toy!!! People
    started SCREAMING & FREAKING OUT!!!! My Uncle's family was SCREAMING & CHEERING us on!!!! My Cousin Sandy screamed and ran out and joined us!!! We got done
    and the rink SHOOK from The CHEERING & Applause we got from everyone!!! The Owner came up to us STUNNED!! and said, " Who ARE you PEOPLE"!!! My Uncle said,
    " My sister and her family are Roller-Skating and Dance Champions!!! The Owner replied,, " That was the most AMAZING display of Roller Skating I have Ever Seen"!!!
    He then said, " That Boy is NOT HUMAN"!!! My Mother replied, " My Son is the energy & driving force of this family!!! He has the energy of an Atomic Power Pland when he
    gets excited or upset!!! He puts our skating on a much higher level!!! We won the contest & the Owner asked us to do a Pro-Skating Show the Next Night and Everyone Cheer
    ed and applauded the Idea!!!! My Mother, my Aunt Rose, & my Uncle's family kissed and hugged us then said, " We love you kids so much"!!! You kids are TRULY SPECIAL!!
    and we are so PROUD of YOU!!!! My Mother then said, " Those are my BABIES"!!!!!! My Uncle then said, " Where do you think we learned to Roller Skate like Pro's!!!!

    Andrea Marie Truden, better known as Andrea True, born in Nashville and moved to NYC. Died in Kingston, NY. She had one of the biggest disco hits of all time, and it almost never happened. She had a job in Jamaica, and in those days you couldn't leave Jamaica with more than a few thousand dollars, so she recorded a demo with the extra money, which became "more more more" one of the biggest disco hits of all time. She was a educated by nuns in a catholic school and became an adult film star who eventually organized unions for adult film actors. I think the best version of the song is the Jamaican demo.

    The story I've heard was she was in Jamaica or the Bahama's, and earned some money singing but the local govt. wouldn't let her take the money out of the country because she wasn't a citizen. So she spent the $16,000 recording "More, more, more" there on the island and "money laundered" her profits back to the U.S. in the form of a music recording. Smart lady..

      It's up there for me too. I used to listen to "Disco 102" show at night with George Michael. I was 14. I would try to change my voice to ask him to play More More More, the album version. Just love that Trumpet and the overall smoothness.

    Apparently she was in high school and hosted some Junior Achievement TV show in Nashville. Incidentally, it was the CBS affiliate, WLAC TV when she was there, later WTVF. This was the same station where Oprah got her start, and where "Hee Haw" was produced.
