It’s snowing, temperatures now minus zero, Hokkaido winter in here. Matt Alt and I are in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido - too cold to go out. #noboribetsu #hokkaido
I actually found your channel via your first video at this place! Always wanted to visit - but never have time when I’m in Hokkaido with family. Stoked to see your video with Matt! I’ve had him on to talk toys around Kichijoji a few months back, always a blast! Would love to talk Japanese toys sometime in Tokyo with both of ya!! 🖖
Hi John, I visited the Noboribetsu Toy Museum last November because of you. I got there about an hour before closing time but it was closed when I arrived. One of the local ladies saw me waiting out the front a bit disappointed and came up to me and we had a chat via Google Translate. She ended up calling him, and he arrived about 25 mins later and gave me a tour around the museum! I told him that I found out about the museum because of you. I enjoyed the bottom floor also with all of the crazy Japanese collectibles and posters! Thanks so much for spreading the word about these places. I was staying in both Sapporo and Hakodate and made the trip to Noboribetsu just for the museum. I want to return to visit the Giant Oni and the rest of the town.
Oh no! Sorry it was closed but yes - he’s 85 and sometimes he goes shopping or to the you store 100 meters away - there’s a phone number there I think but not in English. I should write a sign 🪧 for him to use! Thank you for sharing this and I’ll ask him how I can help.
Its been snowing in the UK this morning/ Thankfully its not settled the ground is a too warm and wet. Love the Christmas stuff you post over the holiday period, even though the Japanese are mainly non Christian. 👍👍
Really enjoying Matt! He's easy to watch and I'll be sure to watch upcoming video😊. Both of you together are a great match! Thanks John for having Matt on this live stream 👍
John, love your stuff but you're wrong about Japanese cinema. In the past, Japan produced some of the most interesting cinema on earth. Naruse, Shimazu, Mizoguchi, Kurosawa, Ozu, Shindo, Imai, Kinoshita, Tanaka, Toyoda, Gosho, Ichikawa, Kawashima, Kobayashi, Kurahara, Masumura, Suzuki, Imamura, Teshigahara, Shinoda, Gosha, Kuroki, Okamoto, Yoshida, Oshima, Wakamatsu, Yamada, Hani, Matsumoto, Terayama, Kumai, Ito, Fukusaku, Jissoji, Nomura, Yanagimachi, Hasegawa, Obayashi, Ishi Sogo, Higashi, Somai, Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Morita, Nagasaki, Ichikawa Jun, Morisaki, Itami, Sakamoto, Kitano, Ishi Takeshi, Tsukamoto, Hashiguchi, Harada, Koreeda, Iwai, Yaguchi, Kawase, Toyoda, Miike, Nobuhiro, Sono, Hamaguchi... These boys were where it was at.
😂 it was bigger than a coffin, with a light and an outlet 🔌 and coat hangers and space in the sides to put your drinks 🍹 - but Matt was in the bottom bunk so I don’t know if it was smaller. Penthouse is usually bigger 😂

🥶 Only you would go look for an ice cream machine in Noboribetsu on a sub temperature day 😂 To me, it looks more like two crocodiles battling. (refering to the bridge) 😮 Aww. I love toys. I still have my toys from when I was younger. At least I think they are still there in a box somewhere. I can't wait to see the episode. I am going to go back and rewatch the toy episode...I can't remember what year that was from. I think it was on the Hokkaido hitchhiking trip. 🤔 Oh... The force is strong in Wakaki San (spelling?) ❤
I am always happy to see Matt and I miss seeing him in Japanlogy Plus.
Yea! the toy museum =D thank you for picking up the idea and making the episode. me happy!

Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
Loved the dynamic guys. Enjoy the fresh air :)
Matt, your 'plugging' worked last year :) Great read.
Aomori is like that to a degree too. Hokkaido gets colder faster and the snow lasts longer. Hello from Tohoku!
Definitely looks like the Japanese version of Krampus and you don’t want that creature after you.
Yay Matt!
This is awesome. Two Japanese experts sharing their insight on this and having a great time doing it.
Always good to see Matt
great to see mat! its not cold until neg18c! thanks for the share! stay awesome!

Love Hokkaido, would be a dream to visit it while it's snowing 😊❤
Nobori is my maiden name. It’s very unusual here in US
Morning John from Columbus, OH! It has been awhile since I’ve been able to catch you live! Great to see you!
IO! Glad you could join us ٩(^‿^)۶
That icescream maker needs its own sound proof booth
😂
I stayed at exactly the same hostel and can relate to the ‘sleeping in a coffin’ part. Also very cold and yeah nobody on the streets!

-7°C in Scotland last night 🌙
With some snow ❄️
Has Matt been to Warabekan in Tottori? It has a nice toy collection.
Matt Alt!
😮 oh wow! So cold!
-3c it’s colder here so i’m used to that lol😁Thank you guys for this one🙂👍!!!
Negative 3 Celsius is nothing John, it was 19 Fahrenheit the other day here in Indianapolis, and winter is not official here yet haha...
Noboribetsu is rather warm comparing to the rest of Hokkaido. Other areas are having -12c/11f.
Here was - 18 for 5 days, wich is unusual
For a sec I thought you had Chris Pirillo in your video/stream😅
😊😊😊👑
Gentlemen, please stop misbehaving. hahaha 😃🤫
Damn. I forget Japan has normal seasons for most part!

Dude, you need to control your dog (Matt)! Exuberance is one thing, but…and, his interruptions, just Rude!
I slept in a similar place bakc in Osaka in 2015.
