    Cycling is great cross training. And i personally run better when i cross train more. Different muscles or the same ones in a different way.

      This bike is a pitn to move though... It's SO HEAVY!!!!! But I know many people who run faster races when they bike too, so definitely works.

      Your experience on the bike is exactly what the cycling ladies would feel when they try running. There are a ton of lady cyclist in my hood as there is lots of cycling infrastructure.

      I answered this before and just noticed youtube didn't take. 😔
      You areprobably right.... but a lighter bike would have helped me instead of hindering me 😄😄😄😄

      @@IRunThings a lighter bike would be more fun. A 22 pound road bike might make you feel like you could win the tour de France.

      @stevemurray710 I think this bike is heavier than 22 lbs . Annie is 36 and I lift her very easily. My bike has to be way heavier than 22

    Very inspiring, I'm over 50 as well and running helped me physically and mentally.

      Stick around. There's a lot more goof stuff coming that you'll hopefully enjoy too!

    Great week, Suzie! I hope it continues to go well for you. As for me, July has been a rough one after a strong first half of the year. I didn't miss many days but there were a bunch where 2 or 3 very slow miles was all I had in me. There's something that I'm not getting right right now, though part of it is probably that this is maybe the toughest summer weather I can remember. At least I'm still on my feet and ready to try again tomorrow. Answering your other question, I know the feeling of wanting to leave no stone unturned but my call would be to keep running front and center for now, particularly to make sure that you're fresh enough to execute the speed workouts and long runs, to dial back everything else temporarily if that's what it takes. Just my 2¢ but there it is. All the best!

      You are probably right. This is a down week anyway so I am doing half the amount of strength training and see how that goes.
      As for you, the weather has been unrelentless. It hasn't rained in weeks here. It's the driest summer in my 17 years in this country. That affects us too.
      You are an awesome runner and understand yourself very well. I know you will have better days. These are just part of the summer grind

      @@IRunThings Thanks for the encouragement, Suzie. It's really hot and humid but I don't want to lean to hard on that excuse. Last summer was hot too and right now I can't even imagine running the mileage that I did last July and August. I've been trying to get more protein this year but maybe I'm going too far and shorting myself on carbs. Or something else. Anyway I'm doing enough to stay active and healthy which is really the point. Anything beyond that is to keep it more interesting than it would be if I was trying to get by on just the bare minimum. I hope your weekend is off to a great start!

    Great video, I'm 61 and I felt like I would never have the fitness that I had at 45 listening to other videos. If for other videos, I would be in a pool with some water weights. I think that some other people want you to wind down so that they have an opportunity to win some races. I was looking at one part of your vid where the cam was going around you, I really liked it. I thought, you definitely had your husband or son going around you but realized it was a drone. Very good stuff. I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers, I have ADHD and working out keeps me off of meds, but somehow, I watched the whole vid without stopping. Other vids from favs that are 30 mins, even from favs like DC rainmaker and BMP take me 3 days to watch. I had dreams at 55 to film the way you do for being in Kona Hawaii at 60, your video quality is amazing. Anyway, I'm ranting, thanks for inspiration, I'm up to 10K now. Maybe you need to do a collaboration with other TH-camrs to pick up subscriptions, unless... you're good.

      THANK YOU❤ for this comment. I wonder myself why I don't have more subscribers 😅, but then again, there's so many good channels out there I understand.
      The camera you mention is really a self flying camera. It's lighter than the 250grams that would make it qualify as a drone, so it can be flewn anywhere. It takes high quality video and I love it more the more I use it.
      And I agree, if I followed doctors orders I wouldn't be running. Haha. At my age, my mom was recommended yoga as an exercise and walking. She could have done a lot more than that.

    Now you can say "Never Miss a Monday" 😂 I also rest on Mondays because that is how the Pfitzinger plans are set up. But sometimes I move things around because with a 10 year old, I have to make it work.
    Almost 100F is brutal! We luckily don't usually get temps over 80F (though we will almost definitely have a week or two before October where we hit mid 90s, it always happens). Shade is definitely amazing! It's hard to find shade here (San Diego is so arid, trees are not as prevalent as more humid climates). The heat will make you stronger, even though during it feels like you could not be slower - it's such a mind f**k 🙃

      This week I am resting Monday and Friday. Last week let me quite tired and this weekend is an exciting one (I will post about it later on in the week)
      I didn't know you had a 10 year old 🙂 That's such a great age, but it's also intense because they need a lot of driving around, at least in my experience.
      And I've never been to San Diego, but been told the weather is very much like Barcelona? I do think Barcelona might get hotter than San Diego. Either way the North East is brutal IMO. Super hot and humid in the summer and incredibly cold in the winter.

    • @littlerunner4505
      @littlerunner4505 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@IRunThings Yes! Driving around a lot. Summer day camps, her softball practice/season starts up in 2 weeks, events, etc. I love this age so far but it takes up so much time.
      I've only been to Barcelona once and in March - I would say the March there was comparable to here? But you're probably right about the heat - for now the Pacific is a cold ocean so it helps it not get blazing hot by the coast (but if you go inland 20 miles... it's a different story. My parents are 90 mins inland and it will be 103F this weekend)

    • @IRunThings
      @IRunThings  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @littlerunner4505 yeah. I've swum in the Pacific and it's DEFINITELY much colder than the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean feels like pee an evening at the end of August. It's probably 70 degrees if I had to guess
      Edited. I googled it, it's already at 83F right now. That's astonishing
