So they uphold a beauty standard that is outside their natural occuring state which I find to be very beautiful.....hate on the women who have what they term to be exotic mixed looking features but want to be only shown when portraying this same beauty standards they hate on other women for having naturally while simultaneously saying they did her dirty about the UBW women who are portrayed in their natural state????? This is crazy!!!

As a collective Black Community can be exhausting! Very passive aggressive, and gaslighting. A lot of DaKuminty will never be satisfied with light skinned or exotically looking BW and BM. I just stopped having the conversations decades ago! A lot of peace. However, I am concerned for my younger girl family members. As some of them are very other looking and started experiencing colorism/featurism, etc like age 5. And don't have a lot of dark-skinned teen girls as friends due to the competition over dusty black teen boys.

That’s what I’m saying like they’re gorgeous! Just because we’re calling out the toxic ideologies in the black community that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate dark skinned phenotype women! Only the self-hating ones we’re calling out.

I am a ABW myself (dark skinned Afro-Dominican) and I remember wearing a 4C textured afro wig during my first week of college. I have short hair myself but if I ever wear wigs I prefer to be curly from 3B to 4C, love me some curls right? Literally other DSBW kept on saying, “Oh you only have that much hair because you’re mixed.” Or “We know you look like a man underneath that wig.”
…..They need self-love fr fr, because I’m done feeling insecure off of THEIR own insecurities. So you wanna wear 3A wigs down to your ass but shame MLS for their natural state? Ridiculous!

They’re so nasty and have so much internalized hatred if they feel they’re over looked. My bff is a darkskin exotical and we’ve both dealt with wild hate from that group.

Lashana Lynch looks GREAT in those photos. She looks mysterious glamorous and siren-like. The short hair is not "masculinizing" her, and it makes total sense for a spy in an action movie.

Right! I literally would’ve NEVER noticed that if the women hadn’t brought it up. The theme of that ad was children playing outside and they all had messy buns etc. if white girls can wear messy buns why can’t black girls?

My Bahamian grandmother is not mixed, has dark skin and 4C hair and when she big chopped in the 00’s, she rocked a TWA (still does to this day but growing up she only did perm and braids; in the 70s she was natural too). I never, EVER thought her 4C TWA was masculine. I didn’t think of that until that was suggested by UADSW, especially in hair/wig tutorials for special occasions. I remember just a few months ago that these Black (I believe Nigerian) women were on a podcast and one of the women said “do not bring your natural hair to my special event”. Hearing comments like that growing up (not even geared towards me but still heard all around me) taught me that 4C hair is to be hidden and if shown, it must be ridiculed. Again, I only hear this from other Black folks who are NOT mixed! As a child, it was harmful even thought it’s not my hair type because it essentially teaches that afrocentric features are not beautiful.

I think the real issue is that UABW don't accept / love their hair themselves. And it's very difficult for them to do it having mixed people in front of them being picked everywhere.
But it's a battle only UABW can have. And as a mixed girl myself I've always supported natural black hair but UABW aren't ready to love themselves completely. They are still in a deep denial, sugarcoating their love for wigs and transformation. And creating all kind of looks except the ones that are looking like natural UABW.

As a DSE, what I've noticed is that a lot of the time, it's not even about the person being unambiguously dark-skinned with 4c hair, it's about the 4c hair itself.
I mean look at how the UABC demonised Doja Cat and she's light-skinned & biracial...

Omg youre not wrong!! Im dark skinned with 4c hair and i have a small button nose, and i have experienced this too much! When i got my 23andme results the FIRST thing my African friends started to try to claim was my nose, "you get your nose from us, thats a Nigerian nose". Im usually the person used as an example of a pretty dark skinned uabw and its because i benefit from featurism (my small button nose, my doe shaped eyes, my lips are full but the width is close to the width of my nose, so my mouth appears small and full at the same time, etc.) , but if i say that then people get mad abd think that im trying to put down people with bigger noses, more unambiguous features, etc.

Distinctly remember a beautiful friend saying she couldn't leave her natural out in its short fro because she "would look like a little boy." I found the idea of a woman looking male over short hair really odd, and male centered. It is certainly unfortunately a common sentiment. Looser textures in short styles will often not be masculinized, and a lot of the time are seen as beautiful/fashionable.

i believe we can all be our own form of beautiful, the same way mixed race women are their own Beautiful, indian women, asian women, white women, and and hispanic women, we all express different versions of beautiful, i personally believe dark skin black women are the most beautiful women on earth. Im Dominican and was raised very differently when it came to the topic of black people as a whole, but ever since i was little i always noticed how your every day normal darkskin women natural hair and all was breathtaking compared to everyone else walking around her, i wish they could see that for themselves cause they truly are undeniably beautiful no matter what other people tell them.

Yes! Amber rose is ‘pretty’ Cassie is ‘pretty’ with a shaved head. But a UDSBW wears her hair short then she is ‘masculine’ and ‘we don’t want her’. Someone was in my comments was pressed about Mya. They were like she is ‘not habesha’. Am like babe, chill😂I just said she is beautiful and remind me of my own women. We got tons it’s ok😂😂But they were out here blood sweat n tears fighting tooth n nail to let me know she’s American black. Well since you are quite adamant to let me know who is American and who is not, I expect you keep the same energy when I put up a celebrity with Bantu features. Cause other wise I am going to take it as a pedestal excessive need for approximation and self hate…and so far no one said a word🤷🏻‍♀️
