I’m 64, born in Charlotte, NC. I’ve rode motorcycles all my life. And I do mean all my life. Started riding mini bikes at about 7, and bought my first road bike at 18, a 1978 Harley Davidson Super Glide. I’ve rode my various motorcycles that I’ve owned over the years to every state in the lower 48, except 5. Never trailered anywhere. Those mountains are some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere in our vast country. Seeing all the various places in this great country we are so blessed to call home, it’s always been a welcome sight when and every time I have crossed back into those mountains. I can’t imagine some of the sights that use to make me smile and say to myself, “ hello North Carolina, didn’t know if I’d ever see you again”, I may not now ever see again. Thank God those memories are forever burned into my brain!!!

I live on the other side of the world, but your video has really moved me to tears. I've seen a lot of videos where people bless their fortune and vow to rebuild, but I think yours is the first account I have seen actually caring for the land itself, and the damage it has suffered. I am so sorry for the damage you've all suffered, both to your communities and lives, but also to the places you love and make memories in. I'm thinking of you, and I hope that the waters clear soon, and you can have your happy place back once more.

We live in some of the most beautiful country in the world. The old timers call it "God's Country". ETA and WNC is something special.
Our beautiful home is devastated. And her people knocked down. And if you understood what that means to "mountain folk?" Then you understand it's bad. These people are as hard as a pine knot. Tough as nails and self reliant. So to ask for help is utter defeat. 😢 Proud folks with shallow pockets 😔🙏 🇺🇲

This was a natural event. The re-shaping of land, river, and forest through fires and rain is not something to be sad about. It’s how the world works! The river, trees, and fish have been rearranged, not removed. And this kid will be fishing and hunting again within 30 days, just some new landscaping to do it in.

Take time to morn the loss. One of my favorite secret places burned hot four years ago. It will not be the same in my life time. It will not recover in 300 years. It will never be the same.
I still go there to remember, to sorrow, but also to see the start of the recovery. Change is always happening. Although I really, really, wish such a drastic change had not happened, it does help me to see the new growth. I hope it can help you too. But first, you have suffered a true loss. Take your own time to grieve.

My hope for you is to envision the possiblity of something even greater than what you have to make more new memories - they probably will never be the same but now-- look for new ones to be proud of --- you live in Gods country -- there is more beauty yet to be had !

Nature was here long before us and will be here long after we're gone. She needs time to heal and regenerate but she will endure mate, this is her adapting. Its events like this that we truly feel our connection to nature, its sad but it is a process non the less. Self care is important, I know I'm just a stranger on the other side of the world but just want you to know that it's all gonna be ok mate. Stay strong.

Heart breaking to see. I grew up just over the mountain on Dry Creek road( Campbell, Harvey and Crowe families)
The doctor that delivered me , pulled teeth and took care of my illnesses was Doc Willis who was just across the 81 bridge and to the right. His house was still there 3 years ago when I was last there, I’m sure it is gone now. I wish you the best and remember a country boy will survive.

The swath of destruction is just unimaginable! Seriously, this had to of been a 500 to 1000 year event. Devastation in the many hours of videos is beyond anything anyone can comprehend. I just watched many of the 2011 Japan Tsunami videos and this is second in comparison but does it really compare because the people there in NC had no warning that an unpredicted event was able to destroy the whole area.

I was so happy to find a channel talking about the small towns like here , instead of Asheville asheville asheville. Sure they got it bad and it’s terrible, but I don’t think the country is realizing how far beyond they’re in all directions that it is. I wonder if a lot of the fish got swept away, or?!?! Im so curious to hear someone speak about the environmental impact of the life in the rivers. Wildlife in general. I think you have a great channel.

Nature is the only thing in this world that will take over and re-establish itself. No matter how bad things look now, give it some time and those places will heal themselves and may even come back better than before. The fish will return, and you'll be back on the bite in no time my man.

You are young enough to make new memories. Get up tomorrow and go help out your community. It will help keep your mind busy. You're in shock right now, so I promise it will get better.

CAN ANYONE GET TO THE CANE RIVER, JUST UPSTREAM OF RAMASEY TOWN ON 19W? WE HAD AN OLD CABIN THERE, AND I FEAR IT'S GONE? THERE'S NO NEWS FROM BACK UP THERE.
I used to hunt and fish Big Creek, up by the Trail crossing near Bald Mt Wilderness. Big creek area was known for some of the biggest dear in NC. I had some great trout fishing which I am sure is ruined for years or more. If you get any news or video about the Cane between Ramseytown and B. Ville, please respond. I doubt anything but a chopper or drone can get in there. God Bless all those who are suffering from this tragedy. My family is worried about those isolated people. Everyone must feel helpless.

We went 3 weeks without water in power in south Florida in the mid 2000s after two storms back to back and it sucks , you have to stand in line for 4 hrs just for ice , all day for gas 🤦🏻‍♂️

I know you got shit to do, but if you wanna go to the beach, ill put you up here for a week or so. I think Wilmington is a 6 hour trip from there. Its impractical, but the offer stands.

I had a special spot that I loved to go to and one day unbeknownst to me someone killed themselves and that dead body was hundreds of feet from me while I was there.
The next day I went and the state police were there and forensics and I couldn't go there for over a year knowing that I was recreationing with someone who had blown themselves to bits literally 10 minutes before I arrived.
It's been now two years and I go and the thought comes into my mind I say a little prayer and I go about my day.
Life ebbs and flows my friend, The only thing you can count on is death taxes and time not lasting.
You'll fish again it might not be the way you remember it or the way you want but it will be the way you can.

Once the organic matter form wood and plants start to disintegrate or rot, I imagine there will be a great die off of the fish in the rivers and lakes. All the pollution washed into the water will make it even worse.
