  • The date is 20th October 2017 and it's time to test the 8 Calderdale flood sirens. This one is located behind a Morrisons store

    Excellent! I haven't seen (or heard!!) a whailing siren in the UK for a long time!

      @Miguel Rodrigues Garcia the broadmoor sirens didn't wail they used a hi lo warning hut they have gon and now they have a klaxon electronic siren that annoyingly wails instead of the HI LO which is sad as I loved the HI LO

      @@jezcolborne6329 I prefer the wailing sound. A wailing siren is more traditional to the red warnings heard during WW2. The hi-lo sound has no historic value.

      @@BuzzLightyear66 na! The wailing sound dousnt do it for me at broardmoor hospital AT ALL. I like the old mechanical dual tone minor 3rd hi lo! The wailing tone makes it sound like a missile attack or a nuclear leek not an escape

      @@BuzzLightyear66 the only time I like the attack signal is if its for fires or chemical fires gas leeks or nuclear leeks done by a KLAXON GP12 or a CS8 with dampers but not at Broadmoor it should still be hi lo not a signal that PUTINS BOMBERS want to hit us with nukes

    Absolutely lovely. One of my favourite siren systems in the UK is the Calderdale flood network! Great video!

      slenderman7676 Rblx I was about to comment on something like this, but you beat me to it. This siren in 1944 meant get underground otherwise once the all clear was given, you would be on one of the parked cars, on the pavement, and on up on what was left on the roof of that building. All at the same time. Literally, and you would be smoldering and charred as well.

      None as it's the "All Clear" - Used to test these, always used the all clear to stop the switchboard melting with calls :)

      @@shardlake This is the Attack warning red signal, the All clear is steady for one minute. The old Flood warning signal (as used on the Norfolk system) was on for 32 seconds and off for 16 seconds 6 times.

    This siren is still in use today, becuase of a simple easy to repair design that
    is reliable and works almost every time.

      What's more, their design is such that the sound carries for some distance and the distinctive sound of the rising and falling pitch is unmistakable, so people know that they need to evacuate the area

Thease sirens make me exited but i know they are used for a flood hazard and the attack signal would make people think WW3 is apon us or say a stupid thing like oh no them germans are back but they are our friends and thease are not Ww2 sirens but re used cold war and modern 10/12 port sirens

      @@jezcolborne6329 Definitely. The German E57 siren is commonly used for the fire departments. But the sirens are also used for warning the population if there is a danger. And the E57 is starting to get replaced by electronic sirens like the ECI or ECN (HÖRMANN) or SES (SONNENBURG).

      These sirens aren’t made anymore however klaxon do still make motor driven sirens, namely “GP6” “GP10” “GP12”

      That was true aswell but then they had other uses and still do like floods quarrys military bases large wood pulp factorys and also chemical plants

      Tom Lowe looks like it had just recently rained, so the siren was probably a little wet. Nothing out of the ordinary there. When the rotors spins to create the noise, if they are wet, the water is going to get flung everywhere.

      The loudest siren is 138dB....no way a carter can reach the level, carters are like 120 -110 or around that area my dood.

      @@nobodyisnthere2915 no its a FLOOD siren not a ww2 siren but it has the same sound as a ww2 air raid siren but this siren is a newer klaxon siren but the wail tone is code red just like ww2

      @Randoxc it was used for the cold war until it was put there to warn of floods as its a cold war era air raid siren as there are 6 of these secomak GP8 sirens and 2 klaxon sirens. One is a GP10 and the other one a brand new GP12. The GP12 is replacing an old secomak GP8 which will not be used again in hebden bridge and the other the GP10 is at walsden witch replaced a secomak GP8. I think they will replace all the secomak GP8 sirens with new klaxon GP12 sirens or GP8 sirens in the future

      @@DeKat-84 my bad these sirens were use since 1939 but the war ended in 1945 and what I mean by 1950 is they test the sirens and they still test these siren to this day

      Most of the sirens left today were made in the Cold War however they have been around since 1939. These particular ones on this system are from the Cold War and they are new from Klaxon Signalling Solutions!

      @@FM60260 one is a klaxon SINLE TONE but the others are secomak DUAL TONE GP8 sirens

      @@jezcolborne6329 They were all GP8's until the one at Walsden was replaced with a GP10, I don't know why it was replaced though. I believe there are some GP8's on the network branded Secomak and some with Klaxon branding.

      @@FM60260 hi yes I know these sirens very well and one of them was replaced with a KLAXON GP10 single tone because maybe thay didn't want such a loud siren in walsden as it's only a small village unlike todmorden or mythholmroyd that need bigger dual tone secomak GP8 sirens

      Well if you didnt have that horible noise you could be having a problem because these sirens get you to evacuate your floodid house. It is needed as a line of defence against floods so bear that in mind and NO THE NAZIS ARE NOT COMING BACK even though this is the WW2 attack signal

      This exact same siren and tone was used to warn of a nuclear missile.
      It's used currently for flood warnings.
      We don't even have tornados in the UK.

      Caitlyn Allira The UK has more tornadoes per square kilometer than anywhere else in the world. Its just that they do not often warrant a warning as they are so weak....mostly.
