"The 13th Struggle" is arguably the most famous of Organization XIII's battle themes, and while it represents more than a handful of conflicts, it's been unofficially regarded by fans as Axel's personal character theme.
Our arrangement takes you through his story in Kingdom Hearts II while giving brief glimpses of the motives that fueled him - beginning with his final, futile attempt at preventing Roxas' death, to embracing his own in order to save Sora - and, by extension, what was left of his best friends.

In celebration of KINGDOM HEARTS and the stunning melodies of Yoko Shimomura, Utada Hikaru, Takeharu Ishimoto, and Tsuyoshi Sekito, we present Project Destati’s second volume.
DARKNESS is the highly-anticipated follow-up album to Project Destati’s 2014 Billboard-charting soundtrack album “LIGHT.” The album is a musical amalgamation of fan-favorite themes from the KINGDOM HEARTS series, re-assembled in an all-new fashion like long-forgotten memories.
Featuring a live string orchestra and industry-leading soloists, DARKNESS is a dark, grand, and mysterious musical experience that aims to capture Tetsuya Nomura’s own imagination.

Whenever I hear the first seconds of this, I imagine Axel sitting and thinking with nostalgia of the old good days he spent with Roxas and Xion, while looking at the "Winner" stick... Then he realizes he can still bring them back, and his determination bursts into flames, ...and the 13th struggle starts! XD Very inspiring track!

3:29 when Axel realizes the path he's set himself on means he's going to have to die, and his death won't even bring back his friend, it'll just keep Sora from dying too
He and Sora both spend KH2 trying to find their beloved friends who were lost to darkness and where Sora manages to find Riku, Axel only succeeds in burning himself up until he dies. He consumes his whole self in pursuit of his quest and he still fails. This asshole had better get a goddamn happy ending in KH3, for the sake of my emotions

This has become so iconic with Axel himself that nobody even remembers when this played during Luxord's fight. It plays whenever you're fighting without allies but that only happens like...twice. So, yeah. Axel's boss music.

The percussion line gives it a Dream Drop Distance feel, as if you were to fight Axel in DDD.

Godly. It has so much punch, just like it should! I love the inclusion of 'sacred distance' and 'at dusk I will think of you' and 'the other promise' and 'destati' and 'the 13th dilemma'. They are woven together very well!
However, is this also the only appearance of the 13th dilemma on the album? Or will it get its own track?

I've been listening to this since not long after it came out and it wasn't until today that I noticed that little bit of At Dusk, I Will Think of You at 0:14.
Over two years later I'm still noticing new things about these tracks and I love it.

There's a different channel, called Project Destati - Topic that released the rest of the album before the actual channel had a chance to do so. I don't think it's an affiliate of the actual Porject Destati channel, which means this Topic channel bought the album and released it on TH-cam. People also mistakenly keep saying things like "you guys did a great job on this song!" On the Topic videos, thinking it's the actual channel. I don't know if Project Destati is aware of Project Destati - Topic, but I know there's a - Topic for about every artist out there.
