I just repaired my Gpz900r fairing yesterday like this. I only put 2 layers of matting though, you put about 5 layers. I’m worried now that it’s not going to be strong enough. I did superglue the pieces together first.
Maybe u can try it out the 2 layer first on how strong it be? I put 5 layers just because I want it strong enough to support the effect that comes while braking,... For the superglue I replaced using the epoxy 😂
I'm confused with this video first thing of all why wasn't the plastic cleaned & prepped? I'm just wondering how long this lasted untill it broke again if it ever did? Just wondering because I spend alot of time preparing for fiberglassing maybe it's wasted time?
Actually all the things have been cleaned and free from dust and dirt or it will not long lasting,... It will last unless u hit something or prepare to repeat the process or maybe u should get a new one
@@ALANIQ I see and i was just wondering if all my time and effort for preparing to fiberglass was even worth it and yes I think this is the case with any repair specially fiberglass unless it's fiberglass to fiberglass as fiberglass doesn't bend ect like abs I was more curious about the preparation but it's good to know cheers much appreciate your reply 😊
@@liamwilliams7782 For me it gonna worth especially if u'r part is really hard to get from stores even u have $$$ to buy a new one, so maybe this will be the best choice untill u found the original one 🤗
@@liamwilliams7782 “all clean” with grass and dirt still chillin lol. Wasn’t cleaned at all. You can see the resin moving dirt around. If you do this, do it the right way and clean with acetone
total wrong. the plastic roughned with sandpaper then cleaned. This vid shows how to NOT fiberglass propley
Wanted to commit suicide at 5:22 mark, painfully long video and all done wrong 😑
💯
Great repair. How has this performed in the long term? Did the resin *permanently* bond to the ABS?
Thanks & Yes permanently till now as long the resin are mixed correctly from the instructions 🔥

Does the styrene solvents in the resin chemically bond to the ABS
No it's not... Styrene are easily to evaporated/quick dry for parts cleaning that makes resin & hardener stick well to the parts...

You could use MEK to join the two pieces together, this is known as plastic welding.
Tq for the info & that's the proper way because sometimes I'm just using soldering iron to melt & stick the part 😂
@@ALANIQ Just don't substitute acetone for MEK. Acetone doesn't affect butadiene (rubber) and thus you will get a weak bond.
@@rgstever ouh so avoid using acetone for those kind of part? Thanks for the info 👍🏻
@@ALANIQ ABS contains butadiene (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) What I'm saying is acetone will cause a weak weld.
@@rgstever I see so the acetone will just make the abs weaker

Hi sir gum ko remove kada kare
Gloves and brushes
Ah my bad... Here we call cowboy style...
Haha you didn't even clean or ruff plastic up, you should also of drilled holes in the surrounding area to allow the resin lock both sides together.
Yup that's much better
Maybe use a paint brush next time
Yup much easier
lose the naff music
No need to use resin before the fiber. It will go thru and make contact. Use a paint brush next time.
Tq for info 👍🏻 and yes I'm still learning 🙏
Always lay resin down first . Then your fiber and then brush on fiber middle outward.
