It is a shame it couldn't have been a side mode in crash 4 especially with the insane amount of content the game already has. I feel making it standalone put too much pressure on what is really just a simple / basic/ fun multiplayer time killer.
That's mainly because CTRu isn't a MOBA really. It's basically a whole new genre that takes elements out of known genres like a MOBA. I heard the term "Competitive Collectathon" before which comes pretty close imo.
@@PieroMinayaRojas I'm not being defensive about it, it's just a fact. The game is lacking crucial MOBA elements such as the destruction the enemy base, defensive structures, AI units (Minions) and hero progression throughout the game (such as leveling or passive income/items that make you stronger). Calling CTRu a MOBA is just as dumb as calling Overwatch a MOBA. Heck Overwatch is closer to Rumble than LoL or DotA are. Only because Rumble is team based and has a main base doesn't make it a MOBA.
Petro: "I was given a copy by a friend..." Me: Let me guess, Jak? *footage from a match against SquareEyedJak pops up* Bloody ripper, that's what we like to see. Glad to have a perspective from someone who pre-ordered as well as an outsider not usually drawn to these games. Your two reviews and discussions, side by side, offered the most objective, fair-minded and honest conversations for this game's pros, cons, and uncertainties based on things thus far. Exactly what someone on the fence like me needed. Cheers Petronious.
Nitro Fuelled was full price and had subscription online AND had microtransactions, but the deal there was that NF was primarily an offline game with a beefy single player and local multiplayer experience, you were paying for a FULL GAME. The online mode and the microtransactions were there but at the same time, you didn't have to utilise them just to get ANY enjoyment of the title. Hell you could unlock everything without spending a single coin. It also means that when online mode is dead, the whole game isn't dead. Rumble is JUST an online competitive mode at this point, you are paying just to play the damn thing at all. I get these sort of games need funds in SOME form to be ongoing, but the way they've handled it has repelled gamers from buying and they haven't pitched the game well enough to draw people in, no free trials without pre-ordering the game, no offline functions like Nitro Fuelled to appeal to more casual gamers, not even solid enough marketing making clear what the game actually is, people don't wanna buy a fully priced game they don't even know if they'll like or if it will even be alive after a year and Activision has not done anything to assure them otherwise. I feel like this might be the reason the rumoured Switch release is delayed and what we've got here is basically a glorified beta with bare bones content while they're figuring out exactly how to expand this thing.
I wouldn’t worry too much about Crash going away, Toys for Bob have already assured that Crash will return after this. I think this game’s future is bright, with the heck ton of datamined content (there’s like 10 modes planned) and listening to the community, I think they could pull a No Man’s Sky type situation and redeem itself that way. Their listening to community feedback imo makes reviews and criticisms like this video much more important for them.
Every Crash Bandicoot enjoyer would much rather Toys 4 Bob spend their time and resources making REAL Crash games rather than wasting them on this garbage
@@elin111 who says they aren’t? Why can’t people comprehend that Rumble and other projects are being worked on around the same time. They are probably working on both, idk why they can’t just work on Rumble even if you don’t like it
Yeah, I'm also one of the few people who's actually optimistic of this game's future. I remembered a survey was given out to those who played the beta a few months ago. Sadly, I never had the chance to try it out (I only have a switch) but I see that they're trying to understand what the community likes. Frankly, I think things might get better for the game once the Microsoft deal closes soon. I didn't think Activision really cared about the game at all, which explains the poor marketing, and their weird decisions on making it a paid game and a closed beta, which meant that not a lot of people were able to try it out for themselves. This game was delayed to hell and back because of Activision's screw-ups, and it feels like it's not gonna get better with them around. I get people are worried about Crash being exclusive, it's just a wait and see at this point. Nothing's been confirmed on this matter.
Because it's 2023 and public opinion is finally turning against this live service trash. Look at Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, look at Marvel's Avengers, look at the mile long list of dead live services just this year, look at the games that were supposed to be live service that rushed to get rid of the live service components only to end up sucking anyways Releasing yet another live service by this point si plain stupid and putting a Crash Bandicoot coat of paint isn't gonna change that. Crash Team Rumble is nothing more than a studio mandated cash grab attempt by Activsion to milk the Crash brand when it is revived and Toys 4 Bob is stuck working on this trash instead of making real games.
@@ChadsterFlower "I get people are worried about Crash being exclusive, it's just a wait and see at this point. Nothing's been confirmed on this matter." Actually, in the lawsuit surrounding the acquisition, Microsoft made it clear that they do not intend to have cross-platform series become exclusives, and from what I know the Xbox director himself confirmed that as well. Plus, they know full well that exclusives would hurt their sales more than it'd actually help them.
Plus it was always supposed to be a Crash 4 game mode, and yep - still feels like it should have been a free DLC called wumpa league The biggest fault is actually how this game is fun.... but will only be fun for an extremely limited time, and like you mentioned... you won't even get past a main menu in years to come because it's online only so anyone that bought this has purchased a tea coaster worth of plastic Also, if you are aware of or look up a game called Team Buddies on PS1 - this game is pretty much identical to Crash Team Rumble, so why would I rather go back and play Team Buddies than I am sitting here yet to even purchase Rumble........
It’s pretty clear that this game is just here to keep us busy until the next Spyro or crash game. I’m enjoying it though and can’t wait to see what else they add
I remember being so hyped for all of the "wumpa league" new leaks and information. But since the launch of Crash Team Rumble I became really dissapointed... Even if this was free to play I dont think I would like to invest my time into a game like this.
Honestly, I think that it could have worked if they put a bit more effort into it and pulled a bit more influence from Fortnite and Smash Bros of trying to get other franchises involved. Could have been fun to see a team of mascot platformers. See Crash, Spyro, Sonic and Mario (if they could get a deal to allow them). Guest appearances do bring a lot of interest to a game. Might have been easier before getting bought but would have been cool to see Crash, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank. With some unique costumes, stages and some of their music, might have helped. The game also just needs a lot of quality of life stuff like unique death animations, some character interactions and other bells and whistles. Maybe local co op and some different game modes. There's plenty of stuff that they could do with a platform platformer royal like this. Have races from Crash stages, standard battle royal, bring the Chicken Challenge, Boss battles influenced by Sonic Rivals, Fall guys stuff, etc. Yes, it would need time and polish, but even still. It's more than this one mode.
I think of Rumbleverse, which was supposedly pretty fun, but now it's just gone. Wish more games would add offline local co op modes, splitscreen, and ways to host your own server or something. The game could get a price cut, and voila, still a fun time that will probably make up for the cost spent on those modes, at least long term. It'd at least be the right thing to do.
Atleast its not a Crash Bash remake. Never understood the desire to remain trapped in the past and to see that trainwreck return vs brand new experiences.
@@marklundie7637 Crash Bash didn’t sell all that well to begin with, it was the worst selling Crash game during the PS1 era, I doubt a remake would change that. Also Crash Bash isn’t really good, try 100% it and you’ll realize the same.
@@captaineli2461 Crash bash sold 3 and half million copies. Only sold worse than ps1 games as they were the top tier games. Bash sold better than any other non-naughty dog game and much better than this.
@@captaineli2461 You have a weird taste for the franchise. You act all positive but then negative when it comes to bash. Bash was a success in sales and many want to relive it again. As you can see many people asking for it on social media platforms and no one hardly wanted this. What does that tell you? However, you would rather defend cash team fumble that’s awful game that has no effort put in to it. Basically you support it because it’s new and you didn’t want a new remake. Or you love Activision/ToysforBob and don’t dare criticise them lol. Weird logic. You aren’t looking at the bigger picture and people like you are reason this franchise will die again as you don’t look to majority view just a small minority who put up with this..
One thing I will be devil's advocate for is that Rumble is ridiculously low on content, but at the same time the core gameplay IS solid. This was a contrast to Toys For Bob's previous endeavour for me, Crash 4 overflowed itself with fake longevity, extra challenges and padding that was more tedious than fun and effectively hurt the game in my opinion. Even worse, everything kinda felt like a flanderized version of what the earlier games done (and even then mostly only 1, as if they only played that one) while lacking the other fundamentals that made it enjoyable, we'd get a heap of extra challenges and longer levels but without the actual fun factor to balance it. Like no-deaths challenges in SUPER LONG levels, yeah that was well thought through. :P Now I get I'm kind of in the minority here, that many LOVED Crash 4, but I see this content/challenge overflow as still being a recurrent critique with the game, that they overfocused on that over keeping the core game fun. Now Rumble admitedly feels like a lesson learned TOO well in this regard, it does need SOME extra content to it, but I appreciate in this case that Toys For Bob stopped and went "Okay before we go crazy with this, let's just flesh out the base we have and make sure it is solid". It is probably something they should have sorted a lot earlier in development and got the other stuff handled by now, but I appreciate this care and self restraint to some level, that from the get go it's not style over substance.
Aside from the predatory "Games as a service" "Live service" model they're going for, specifically monetizing it as though it were a free to play game but with the up front cost and without the content backing up its worth, probably the biggest turn off about this game is how completely tone deaf this game is to the demographic it's being advertised to. As you questioned early into the video, "Who asked for this?" I can speculate with almost total certainty who exactly asked for it: Higher ups at Activision who saw the financial success the Crash revival was bringing them and wanted to combine that success with whatever other trend in the industry is also making lots of money. Fortnite prints money, Nitro Fueled did very well, combine those ideas together and this should be a smash hit right? Unfortunately, along the way they lost sight of what it is they are making: A Crash Bandicoot game. The fanbase fell in love with the games to begin with because of the core platforming roots and the simple "Pay an upfront cost and then just play a game" style that the games go for. Crash 4 was a success largely because in addition to giving us the gameplay we were looking for there wasn't predatory monetization of the various skins you could unlock, you simply unlocked them through gameplay. If you're going to slap a price tag on just entry for a Crash Bandicoot game, you should go the Nitro Fueled route of giving us the bare minimum of an offline compatible single player campaign to go through, perhaps with optional co-op support. If you're going to make the game online only and require playing with other players, make it free to play and make the monetized content feel like bonuses you are buying to support the game rather than something you necessarily need to compete. This game in its release state is a corporate money hungry worst of all possible worlds approach to how to handle a beloved franchise. It exists to make them as much money as possible, not to give the people it's advertised to a worthwhile experience. The bare minimum "Couldn't even be asked to make much in the way of new assets" approach they took with it speaks volumes in that regard. As appreciated as it is to get the occasional new character in the Crash 4 art style, I still can't help but feel like the entire thing pretty much boils down to a lazy cash grab. It makes me feel bad to say that too, because it must have been someone's job to figure out how this game would play and make the idea actually good, and it's clear that there are people like that who worked on the game and actually poured their heart and soul into it to the best of their ability. It' just such a shame they were tasked with creating this corner cutting garbage instead of something more respectful to the franchise and its customers.
It is blatantly obvious that this game is a studio mandate from Activision intending to get a cash grab rather than something Toys 4 Bob wanted to make.
2:44 Ey, Square Eyed Jak. Fascinatingly enough, I'm usually ecstatic for an upcoming new Crash experience but not in any capacity with this oddity. Upon seeing trailers and information that painstakingly made the hype non-existent, I wasn't convinced in the slightest. Eventually though I caved in and bought it digitally (Deluxe Edition) Just before release and... well, I ended up enjoying it at first-hand but the novelty wore off thin faster than I anticipated. If others get a kick out of it, that's great. For me, more game modes would've been enough to make the experience more compelling. (Well there are but limited time events don't cut it) 26:01 The Dingo Jackson joke is a highlight for me.
Another part that's kind of unfortunate is the lack of a Switch or PC versions. I feel like there's a lot of people out there specifically on those platforms who would've otherwise been interested but can't play the game. Though personally probably would've skipped out on it anyway, really does not look like something you couldn't get out of a free-to-play game.
It's such a strange feeling for a Crash Bandicoot game to come out and for me to deliberately *not* buy it - the sad part is, even if there had been a little bit of offline content, I probably would buy Rumble. Hoping it does become free to play someday though, so I can at least experience the gameplay.
Managed to get over 100 relics in one match mainly because I think most of the other players were AI bots. Also as a Spyro fan for over 20 years it felt so wrong to use the square button for flame and R2 for charging
Having played it on and off for about three weeks I can safely say the gameplay is fun. When things get down to the last few seconds and both teams are neck and neck, things can get chaotic and wild. Those are the moments I enjoy the most, or when you have a solid team that knows their roles and sticks to them. Unfortunately that isn't always the case and there is a few issues with the game that you previously mentioned that need improvement. A fun romp every once in awhile but yeeeeah, the content... Fantastic and fair review, Pete!
I totally get the mixed feelings about it. It’s a very odd game that’s bound to please a pretty niche audience and be too strange, poorly designed, and rough for others.
Played 10 games of the free trial, repetative, controls felt off, combat was mostly button mashing, and it all felt like no matter i did it didn't make much difference as to which team would win, out of my control Would never pay a dime for this
Fair play for giving it a shot but yeah from what I've seen, they've really limited the amount of characters and abilities in the free trial. It's baffling. It's like they're trying to put people off.
I probably could have been convinced to pick this up based solely on getting to play as Tawna and unlock her various awesome costumes. However, I decided I'm no longer giving any money to Activision-Blizzard, so me passing on this game wasn't a difficult decision. Like I am glad to hear it's not actually awful, but yeah, kinda what you said, I just don't want to pay any money for it.
Great review. Sad that I will probably never be playing this though... I will just never understand for the life of me... why did this not launch on PC? Especially since the N.sane Trilogy and Crash 4 got PC releases too? Very bad decision on part of T4B (Or Activision). Why? Well.. let me explain: 1) Online only games have a much higher engagement rate, lifecycle and dedicated fan-base on PC because we don't have to pay for those ridiculous online subscriptions (Imagine having to pay not only for your internet, but also for the "right" to MP JFL!!!!!!!) 2) The PC MP community is DIE HARD‼‼‼ PC is where MP started... and where games usually end their lifecycles (Just look at Halo, Team Fortress, Dota, COD). Nobody plays the old HALO and COD games on console anymore due to backwards compatibility issues.... on PC, this ain't a problem. I was playing MW2 just earlier... no console gamer can do this. I just fire up steam and play. 3) They could have tripled their sales based off the simple fact that they already got the ball rolling with the N.Sane Trilogy and Crash 4 launches on PC, and that there now is a Crash PC community. The pre-orders would have gone crazy. 4) Cross-play drives competition and makes these types of games even more fun. CoD perfected this. Now that T4B FAILED to do a PC release, the damage is already done, even if they were to release it on PC down the line. Now PC gamers will have to start all the way at the bottom of the battle pass and compete against everyone else on consoles. What a seriously DUMB decision by T4B (Or activision..). Crash Rumble's golden ticket to longevity would have been including the PC community. Now it will most likely die by the end of the year, have minimal to no support, and really just end up on the scrap pile of other dead-end games. I'm sorry... but I'm not buying a console just for one game. Consoles are the gayest thing on earth and has turned gaming into the commercialized, grifting, micro-transactional pile of steaming sh*t we see now in 2023 (no offense to console gamers... although y'all made it this way ).
This game seems fun and I do think I'd enjoy it but with it being multiplayer only I don't really like how its multiplayer only. I feel like it needs some single or local content so when the servers close down it isn't just a disc that does nothing. I do think this game would do better as free to play as it would let people try it out. I dont really like spending the idea of spending money on a game buying an online subscription on top of that to play 1 game which at some point will close down.
I feel like even with it at full price, it having SOME form of offline functions would also appeal to more gamers, not everyone focuses on online competitive, and like you said, many are wary about investing money on a game that might close down in a short amount of time. Everything about Rumble is hidden behind a paywall without enough to interest people in going for it. It's like a tasty food trapped in a can with a dull label and an inflated price tag.
I agree with everything said in this video, the state of the game is so bad that I can rarely ever find a match. And when I do find one it's either half full of bots or the match lasts 2-3 minutes despite having to waste 10 minutes just to get into a match. The game needs to be F2P so the servers have constant players but right now I can't really play the game anymore due to the dead servers.

Good video, but I really disagree about CTRumble being "Not what people were asking for". People never know what they want before they get it. People didn't know they wanted Crash or Spyro before they released. People didn't know they wanted Crash Team Racing before we got it. Same thing goes for anything and everything especially within entertainment. We'll eventually get Spyro 4 or Crash 5 before too long, and I am okay with new ideas being brought into the fold, provided they're good ideas. And CTRumble is a good game like you said, far from perfect, but still at it's base a good game. Criticise Activisdion all you want for their scummy business practises, but bringing new ideas to the fold should never be discouraged.
Yeah. But it’s inexcusable if their going to Charge You a lot for a game that’s meant to be Free to play. If theirs no single player mode. Theirs not a lot of variety and content here. Compared to What Crash Team Racing Nitro fueled has done in the past.
wow... I just searched this game to see that someone made a video just yesterday. Commit to TH-cam bro.. u got it
Wild watching this now that Toys For Bob was dissolved by Activision and came back as an independent studio. This game very well might have been the end for Toys for Bob if they didn’t have the coordination to go indie
@@Petronious Activision's long track record, the BS they pulled sneaking microtransactions into CTR post-launch after they got all the positive reviews, Spyro got one remake then was reduced to cameo fodder immediately, them cancelling Crash 5 in favor of a live service Moba that had zero appeal to Crash fans.... yeah the writing was very clear on the wall.
I was talking more about their history of keeping franchises going for a long time prior to the N Sane Trilogy. Pro Skater went on for a loooong time and I've lost track of what Call of Duty were on now lol But even then, with the stuff you mentioned about CTR, it did really well as far as I'm aware. It was basically right up until the announcement of Rumble I seriously thought "oh dear this is it" And that's all I have to say on it 😅
Also it sucks they haven't implemented some kind of ranked playlist when it's obvious it would gather more players, this being cause the game is more fun when people know what theyre actually doing, that's why most gameplay from casual players is boring
30:28 I dont want people to feel guilted into buying a product they dont want and has nothing to do with what they want on the off-chance that the franchise they like gets a sequel they do like. All you're telling Activision is you'll buy anything with Crash's face on it, instead of quality products that actually cater to what you want. Activision is already several hundred layers of scummy with how they've mistreated the women in their employ, as well as all the lawsuits they've gone through that people ignore cause they happen to throw out a new Overwatch character at the same time. The LAST thing I want is people to buy the game because 'oh what if we dont get another Spyro.' It might take a few years but im sure we'll get another Crash or Spyro. If I wasnt boycotting Actiblizzard's stuff, I would probably give the game a shot if it was free-to-play just for curiosity, but this game really seems as shallow as Activision seeing dollar signs in multiplayer content, so they think a Crash based multiplayer game will be free money
Guilt tripping isn't really the angle I was going for there... moreso just trying to point out that things are business driven, and the performance of one game can affect the next like dominos. A prime example for me is Titanfall 3. I'd love to see that happen, but the second game didn't do anywhere near as well as Apex Legends so there's a good chance it never will. Perhaps I could have worded that part a bit better... but in the end I still said I don't recommend it. So do what you will with that, I suppose! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
I pre-ordered and have been playing the game consistently since launch. The game is so fluid and fun to play, even being max level in the Battle Pass and with my main I keep coming back. One thing I feel a lot haven't mentioned about this game being paid is that plenty of other games have a very similar model. Pretty much every Asymmetrical survival game (Dead By Daylight, Predator Hunting Grounds, Dragon Ball The Breakers etc) follows this same model. That being a paid online only multiplayer game with only one or two game modes which should almost definitely be free with loads of in game purchases. I feel like a lot of the hate this game gets is because the fanbase its for hasn't been exposed to the model rather than the model itself being an automatic failure. Heck, most Crash fans are upset enough to not play because it's online only after all.
While I think most of the criticism in this video is fair, the overall "Who asked for this" comment isn't imo. Would I have loved to see Crash 5 or Spyro 4 instead of this? Yes, absolutely. Does that mean I have to hate this game because we didn't get Crash 5 or Spyro 4 now? No, absolutely not. This isn't targeted at anyone (especially not at Petronious because the review was really fair) or meant as an insult, but sometimes people are just so closed-minded because they want to see more of what they already have - and they refuse to try things they haven't seen yet. I just don't think it's fair to throw games like this away because it's not "what they asked for". Imo the gameplay is super solid and it heavily leans on the Crash formula which is *clearly* noticeable. So I don't get the backlash because "this isn't Crash 5". That's just... unfair. Probably tied to the past of the Crash Bandicoot series though where experimentation didn't really go well. Except in this case it... works. It really does. So far, EVERYONE who I either talked to or watched a video of and who has played it has said that it's fun. This is what a game is about, isn't it? To have fun. I'm having lots of fun playing it, heck I am pretty certain I've got my money's worth of time twice over already. Think about it this way: Where would Crash Team Racing be today if people thought about CTR the same way they think about Rumble right now? I am certain that no one asked for a Crash kart racer back then as well, but they experimented - with success. I just wish that people would be more open-minded towards Rumble in the same way.
Yeah, that's why I felt the need to go further into it cause "who asked for this?" was only the start. Gameplay did end up being fun, and I certainly don't mind being proven wrong if I stand to have fun! It's just everything else really lol.
DANG. Good video, but also depressing as heck :') I'd love for the Crash series to keep trying new types of games, but they really missed the mark with this one's execution, it seems. Should've been free to play but I presume they thought people would spend more money on it, just because it's Crash.
If You Haven't play Rayman M or pokemon unit then you Relies and know what Crash team rumble is Is A multiplayer online Battle Arena but originally being MBA for Short Original with no online so you should get what it is.
As stated in the video, after Crash 4, I don't think a single person was asking for a Crash Moba next... The decision baffles me! The Crash ball was rolling, they could have made a new racing game or something like bash/Mario party if they wanted a competitive game before continuing the mainline games.
This is exactly my point. Why would they pull something like this after what they already made and momentum they had? Activision being Activision I guess. It’s like being 2 0 up with 5 mins to go and still blowing it.
Sheesh if i wasn't expecting a Badman Reviews vid on this game i definitely wasn't expecting a Petronious review on it, exciting stuff Yea so basically what happened with the Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV remaster could happen to future Crash (or Spyro but idc) projects. Rockstar got cold feet after the absolute failure that was the "definitive" edition and cancelled the other remasters. Thankfully they may be coming back to them now with the rumoured RDR remastered leaks but Activision may not. Plus TFB is nothing like Rockstar, they could take some people off GTA VI and create a small studio like the ones they had pre 2013, to create an RDR or GTA IV or even Bully remaster, instead of outsourcing their legacy to amateurs. (Max Payne remasters are in good hands) But TFB can't afford that, the future is uncertain indeed
This game already out of all the selling charts and out the top 200 for ps5 games. It’s bombed badly with average reviews. What possessed them to make something like this?
Why are people saying it bombed? The reuse of Crash 4 asset’s probably made the budget for this game cheaper, so it probably didn’t need to sell much to make a profit
@slayer4932 OP's logic is that those are the good things bring bought up and ruined, Disney-style. Remember, Activision didn't _create_ Crash like they did Call of Doot, the Jurassic Park people did.
I agree with the video 100% and I am actually enjoying the game rn but do see the issues it can run into in the future but comparing it to fortnite doesn't seem fair because it was pretty barebones when it first came out as well
To be honest I would’ve preferred a crash Bash remake because I just know the developers on activation and toys For Bob would probably do better but event first you don’t succeed try try again
if this game went F2P and was on PC i would give it a strong try but .....ugh .... live serivce and battle passes of the modern era of gaming is soul draning and since im also australian we don't have the best internet here
If I had a nickel for every British TH-camr with funny editing styles, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that there's more than one, right?
Crash bash would have sold way better than this. Even on just 1 console it sold over 3 million. Imagine what it could do now with online, more they can add and nostalgia behind it?
This game looks like something I don't want. A Crash Bash successor would have been cool and this isn't it. I also wish they ported Nitro Fueled to pc.
Yeah but the point I was making is that even before you get into a match you need PS+. Even to look at the characters, play against bots or do the basic tutorial.

Bloody ripper, that's what we like to see.
I can appreciate that they attempted to make a fun game out of this but I'm struggling to figure out who it was even made for.
Look at Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, look at Marvel's Avengers, look at the mile long list of dead live services just this year, look at the games that were supposed to be live service that rushed to get rid of the live service components only to end up sucking anyways
Releasing yet another live service by this point si plain stupid and putting a Crash Bandicoot coat of paint isn't gonna change that.
Nothing's been confirmed on this matter."
Actually, in the lawsuit surrounding the acquisition, Microsoft made it clear that they do not intend to have cross-platform series become exclusives, and from what I know the Xbox director himself confirmed that as well. Plus, they know full well that exclusives would hurt their sales more than it'd actually help them.
Plus it was always supposed to be a Crash 4 game mode, and yep - still feels like it should have been a free DLC called wumpa league
The biggest fault is actually how this game is fun.... but will only be fun for an extremely limited time, and like you mentioned... you won't even get past a main menu in years to come because it's online only so anyone that bought this has purchased a tea coaster worth of plastic
Also, if you are aware of or look up a game called Team Buddies on PS1 - this game is pretty much identical to Crash Team Rumble, so why would I rather go back and play Team Buddies than I am sitting here yet to even purchase Rumble........
It’s pretty clear that this game is just here to keep us busy until the next Spyro or crash game. I’m enjoying it though and can’t wait to see what else they add
Just wish It was free to play if their not going to add anymore modes
Bought the game like a little over 2 weeks ago and forgot I even bought it until this video showed up in my recommended
Not me just casually waiting for a crash bash, twinsanity, or tag team racing remake…
Atleast its not a Crash Bash remake. Never understood the desire to remain trapped in the past and to see that trainwreck return vs brand new experiences.
It would have sold loads better than this. This game has been forgotten about already.
However, you would rather defend cash team fumble that’s awful game that has no effort put in to it. Basically you support it because it’s new and you didn’t want a new remake. Or you love Activision/ToysforBob and don’t dare criticise them lol. Weird logic. @@marklundie7637 is that off of vgchartz? That’s not exactly the best source for that kind of stuff. I think it actually sold 1 million in reality.
I agree completely with you
Aside from the predatory "Games as a service" "Live service" model they're going for, specifically monetizing it as though it were a free to play game but with the up front cost and without the content backing up its worth, probably the biggest turn off about this game is how completely tone deaf this game is to the demographic it's being advertised to.
(Well there are but limited time events don't cut it)
26:01 The Dingo Jackson joke is a highlight for me.
Thought it was ok though I (personally) feel it should be an add on to Crash 4 as there wasn't enough to keep me engaged
Ah, I gotta run to work, but I’m happy to see a new video!
26:34 to 26:58 Yep, that about sums it up.

I’m a simple person. I see Petronius upload, I watch the new video and then rewatch the rest of the videos also just to be sure.
2:06 Ah, bless you, Tony Jay...
I totally get the mixed feelings about it. It’s a very odd game that’s bound to please a pretty niche audience and be too strange, poorly designed, and rough for others.
Played 10 games of the free trial, repetative, controls felt off, combat was mostly button mashing, and it all felt like no matter i did it didn't make much difference as to which team would win, out of my control
Would never pay a dime for this
Fair play for giving it a shot but yeah from what I've seen, they've really limited the amount of characters and abilities in the free trial.
Why? Well.. let me explain:
1) Online only games have a much higher engagement rate, lifecycle and dedicated fan-base on PC because we don't have to pay for those ridiculous online subscriptions (Imagine having to pay not only for your internet, but also for the "right" to MP JFL!!!!!!!)
2) The PC MP community is DIE HARD‼‼‼ PC is where MP started... and where games usually end their lifecycles (Just look at Halo, Team Fortress, Dota, COD).
I thought it was alright but the core gameplay is pretty mind numbing
i platinumed the game and i can say the game is fun sometimes

What new features and improvements would you love to see on the Nintendo Switch 2?
Wild watching this now that Toys For Bob was dissolved by Activision and came back as an independent studio. This game very well might have been the end for Toys for Bob if they didn’t have the coordination to go indie
Yeah it's kinda crazy what's happened since I made this video. No way anyone could have predicted what was going to happen 😅
@@Petronious Most could've predicted Activision would fuk up the Crash Bandicoot revival then throw it in the trash.
@@elin111 Given how well the new games did up until Rumble, I'd be inclined to disagree with you there, but ok.
Pro Skater went on for a loooong time and I've lost track of what Call of Duty were on now lol
But even then, with the stuff you mentioned about CTR, it did really well as far as I'm aware.
It was basically right up until the announcement of Rumble I seriously thought "oh dear this is it"
And that's all I have to say on it 😅
This game made me want to play Disney Speedstorm instead; at least that game is going free-to-play in late September.
Go touch grass you incel
All I know is that they didn't care about marketing their game good enough
i have that same crash shirt except i think mine is grey but i hope they bring this to PC
Now THIS is a balanced viewpoint I can get behind.
I want to be open minded, but theirs clearly a Lack of Content.
DANG. Good video, but also depressing as heck :')
I'd love for the Crash series to keep trying new types of games, but they really missed the mark with this one's execution, it seems.
Should've been free to play but I presume they thought people would spend more money on it, just because it's Crash.
This obvious low effort cash grab is 100% on-brand with Activision being Activision.

Sheesh if i wasn't expecting a Badman Reviews vid on this game i definitely wasn't expecting a Petronious review on it, exciting stuff
Yea so basically what happened with the Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV remaster could happen to future Crash (or Spyro but idc) projects.

Two reasons:

Why are people saying it bombed? The reuse of Crash 4 asset’s probably made the budget for this game cheaper, so it probably didn’t need to sell much to make a profit

This game looks like something I don't want. A Crash Bash successor would have been cool and this isn't it. I also wish they ported Nitro Fueled to pc.
Of course you need ps plus to play. It ain’t a free game.
Yeah but the point I was making is that even before you get into a match you need PS+. Even to look at the characters, play against bots or do the basic tutorial.
The point is that it reveals the disc to be a physical preservation of nothing and that the game is even-while-playing-solo-ALWAYS-always-online.
I wanted to play this game but I won't. Playing for a game and then the online is just too much. If It was f2p for PC I would give it a shot.
this will become free 2 play in about a year and put on xbox game pass
They should have did crash bash remake.
Great take. Played a little of the beta, meh. It’s fun but, who asked for this?
This is the first time ever that I have less than zero interest or faith in a Crash game. Even counting the Titans games.
This is so transparently a blatant cash-grab on the IP regaining momentum with online-pvp game # 3432436508718875323432111. No thanks I'll just wait for a REAL Crash game not this shallow bait.
Dang you were interested in Crash Boom Bang? In all seriousness, yeah it’s not for everyone, but its a good game though. A cash grab doesn’t exactly = bad, what do you think the reason games like Titans and Crash Bash were made?
@@captaineli2461 This will have about 2 months worth of buzzword then be forgotten for the other billion online pvp games that come out every 5 minutes.
The worst part of this crap is that Toys 4 Bob are stuck wasting resources and dev time on this garbage rather than making real Crash games.
I played rvery crash game on main platforms ecsept for this game its just not a crash game its beyond boring and the facked thay oneted 40$ for a game with a money shop and session pass miss me with that bull shot thank you
sooo...after watching the good segment....yea Im sorry but I don't wanna play this?
I dont like this game beacuse i bought it to realise you need ps plus to play it

This game is already dead
