just picked one of these up today and made the mistake of laying it on its side in the back of a truck, it thunked over onto its face about halfway home but somehow it didn't break
Do you know if these older models had less issues with the image warping that can happen? I have a trinitron from the early 2000s that has a bend in the image
Great question! Yes, the older curved screens do have less bending in the image. I've owned several of the 2000s era flat screen Wega Trinitrons as well as several of the curved screens, and the curved screens always have better geometry. But back in the day Sony moved away from the curved screens because the trend was to have everything flat unfortunately. Don't get me wrong though - the Trinitrons with flat screens are really nice too - but I do prefer these older units.
It's called "the Wega bow." They all have it. That is where the image bows in the middle. You might be able to fix it by adjusting the rings on the yoke but it could make things worse. A video here on youtube how to fix th-cam.com/video/otwPa-nhcTg/w-d-xo.html
Nice pickup. If you ever need a hand with anything south of SLC. I'm more than happy to help.
