  • For the last four decades Oliver Stone has established himself as one of Hollywood’s preeminent iconoclasts - a filmmaker who has questioned the legitimacy of established historical narratives and examined the role of power in political and popular culture.
With the publication of his new book ‘Chasing the Light’, Oliver Stone has turned his focus towards his own life. His compelling memoir charts the story of his parents and his own life, from a youth divided between France and the US, to the night he walked on stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to accept the Best Director Oscar for Platoon. In this event, writer Ian Hayden Smith talks to Stone about his compelling career.

I read Oliver Stone’s memoir ‘Chasing the Light’ and I loved it: he talks about his life before he became a public figure and about the years he spent writing and trying to make it as a screenwriter. It’s a great book.

Heaven and Earth is not forgotten with me. I love that film! For me, next to JFK, it's Oliver's finest film!
