orville peck said gay cowboy rights and i think that's very sexy of him
Lil' Nas X says "Howdy"
You can tell he’s hot and I didn’t know he was gay lmao.
@@xenosauridae that guy is a gimmick
@@creekandseminole But gimp mask cowboy isn't?
Just found out his real identity is Daniel Pitout. A drummer in a punk band called Nü Sensae
According to Orville-
Country musicians: Punks
Punk musicians : Cowboys
This is exactly what I took from this WitB
And he's right!
I thought he was going to tell us what not to wear.
Warm Numel Exactly what I was gonna say! Lol
Lugubriously
tf is wrong with you damn
“My boyfriend, Merle.”
Thus spoke Orville Peck.
Goodbye, (m)Earle
@@amazingabby25 I put divine on my mother's TV and my family there they all went in to shock and melt down. It was the best Christmas present to them from me
which bible verse is this?
So sultry.
I loved that haha.
This gay lamp has very good taste in music and movies.
Graham Kristensen omg
Lmfao
Ooomhh shit, that's funny, but yeah .
He and I diverge at Whitney Houston (songs and music, not her voice. That I agree with) and John Waters but everything else? On point!
fuck that was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay I kinda need an Orville Peck cover of Sugar Daddy, also I do love the 'Gay cowboy goes to art school and discovers punk and bdsm" aesthetic he has going on
That aesthetic is everything and I'm here for it.
he's easily #1 fashion icon of 2019
this reply was so good i had to screenshot it for the books
That is the most perfect description I’ve come across.
Except...where is the bdsm? I mean, yeah, sex for days, but I'm not sure I see a mask and get the same vibe. Especially nowadays. This Covid thing gonna crush the mask fetish. Or maybe not?
Orville Peck loves everything great and he's not a snob.
He's kinda the antisnob.
I spend like 10 minutes trying to desipher the tattoo on his left bicep but let me tell you it was all 100% worth it when I realized it said "tea swamp"
Lol it's a park in Vancouver apparently
www.google.com/amp/s/www.theglobeandmail.com/amp/news/british-columbia/vancouvers-tilting-homes-are-distinctive-but-puzzling/article16144044/
But I'd have to check the reference to see if that was home as a punk kid.
Tea Swamp! Best band ever!🤣
@@johncollinge619 home as a punk kid? Orville Peck is a South African who only moved to Canada relatively recently.
Ok...I see that full lower lip, that scruffy jaw...mercy.
Ian Lucero I know he’s gay, but I fantasize he would still kiss me.
@@jessicamoore1314 He seems super-kissable to me, too, but sadly, I'm not a guy either.
@@TwiPrime I am :)
@@GoldenHairErik Right on! I wish you two nothing but happiness!
Right? He looks like he kisses very slowly and would make your knees go to jelly.
I don't think I've been more curious about a person in my life till now.
same I saw a pic of him with diplo now I'm so hooked on him not his music just him
Same when I first saw a pic of him, I think in an article, and had to know more about him, and then I heard his *VOICE* ! omg I fell in love with his voice, and his lyrics :)
I never saw or heard of him until today
And four years later, what's the verdict? Hope you've had a chance to see him play since.
I’m obsessed with this yeehaw lampshade. What an absolute doll
He's a real sweetie, and he can sing! Oh man, I love his voice, his music!
BDSM cowboy recommending me some bluegrass. I didn't even know I needed that. Thanks.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😭😭😭
I love this comment it's amazing 😂💞
Have you heard his music yet? I just love him :)
What’s in your bag?
Orville Peck: A brief history of music.
Damn, this man has an eclectic taste. And he knows his stuff! Opening with Whitney Houston is top-notch.
+10000
fictional romance with Peck strengthens
Never have I heard someone describe the Dixie Chicks like they were one of the best punk bands ever.
I was watching this with my girlfriend and when he said the Dixie Chicks I paused it, went on this entire rant on how punk they were for the stance they took on the war, then unpaused it and he said almost word for word my rant and it was a pretty funny moment
I personally heard of a bunch of punks who didn't like country music listening to them/buying their stuff on principle a few years after, dont know how truthful it is, but I think maybe that might be the origins? I've heard them described that way a few time in the years before this video was filmed
@@Poisoneaterr I loved their Not Ready to Make Nice. THAT WAS FUCKING PUNK!
But their post divorce album Gaslighter is also fun. It's funny, cathartic, and witty. Texas Man is a song about needing someone new and one of my favorites on the album. Tights on My Boat is also so fun to listen and laugh at the audacity! But one of the most classic The Chicks in their country phase would be Young Man, it is a song about not knowing what the fuck she is going to tell her her children after they found their husband had cheated and lied for years.
You haven’t known a true gay cowboy life unless you’ve sang Goodbye Earl at your hometown dive bar karaoke drunk with your best friends
Can confirm - highly recommend it!
Wait? This guy is gay? And he’s singing country/punk/pop/soul songs. Wow!!! He’s certainly an original! But what’s with the mask? Does he ever take it off? Kind of a cross between the Lone Ranger and a Mandalorian.
I don't think he ever takes off the mask in public, he's maintaining a kind of "mysterious masked stranger" cowboy vibe for his performances, and I'd hide my face if I was famous too.
NimbleJack3 i saw him at Easy Street Records in Seattle when he had a free show there. He had his mask off while he was in the crowd during the other performances and while he was setting up on stage, he didn’t put it on until they actually started playing. and he’s very handsome!
What's funny is I once met one of the last of the rl old cowboys. Some were bachelors for a reason, and I think they were men in pain. I just can't see modern "cowboys" the same way. There sure ain't no mystique.
Thank you, Tracy, now I'm in love with a masked Canadian country singer.
he is from south africa
the fact that he likes a lot of femal artists and starts off with whitney is so precious to me.
Man I really love that lamp he’s so nice
Lmao
I love lamp
I love lamp too!
I like to think of him as "Cow-thulu".
This comment is everything...hilarious!!! Lamp...lol!!
When he said Xhosa with the click made my heart melt 😍
Ky Lim he’s a white south african and trying hard to make up for it. i appreciate that so much lol
@@RkkiTkkiTaavi He also knows his music history. I think he genuinely cares.
Orville Peck is my favorite music discovery of 2019!
Him and Yola are such great additions to the genre.
Daniel Pitout is his name and he was a drummer for Nu Sensae years ago look him up too se an unmasked picture he is canadian.
A92ndf9 558 Yeah, he’s pretty obscenely handsome. My kinda punk. 🤤😁
andrew riederer same! He has a wonderful voice and artistic vision
likewise
I have no idea who this is but I like his taste and sense of humor.
please, PLEASE listen to his album Pony. some of the best country to come out in years.
I second! He's fantastic! And I got to see him live two months ago and he is an amazing performer!
Full support to Orville Peck! Just saw this dude play live with his band in Antwerp: awesome musician!
Go see him...one of the best surprise opening acts (for Iron and Wine and Calexico) I saw this year. He’s riveting!
Daniel Pitout is his name and he was a drummer for Nu Sensae years ago look him up too se an unmasked picture he is canadian.
You had me at the first “howdy.”
I'm a lil bit surprised that Dolly Parton didnt make the cut
Nischal Prajapati Maybe he already has all her albums at home.
Me too
in a way by picking Ms. Houston he did. Ms. Parton wrote the song that Ms. Houston turned into one of the most beautiful ballads ever, with almost 1.5b views, also the most popular
“Oh, my boyfriend, Merle!”
Orville is *my* boyfriend now.
I NEED Orville to cover Sugar Daddy now.
Thank you Bon Appetite for enlightening me to Orville Peck!!!!!!!
Orville Peck talking about Miriam Makeba made me smile. It's cool that he's carrying his South African heritage with him. I drive through Sophiatown every day on the way to work and it's crazy how things changed there.
Shawn Greyling can you tell me in what way have things changed there , I’m not talking politically anything !! Just interested !!!
@@colinmcquail442 hey, homie. No worries. For one, the displaced community moved back but because of poverty and their disadvantages due to apartheid, the area is plagued with drug dealers and general gangsterism. Meth is a massive problem in the area. Most of the neighbourhood is just above the breadline. It's a bit more complicated than that but that's about the hard and fast of it.
@@ShawnGreyling yeah , that's a trend now for sure ,, does this spell the end of white jurisdiction there ? And if so can the indigenous people really afford to be without whitey . Hell in a handbag comes to mind .
Yep. Miram has great rhythms and more people should have a varied taste such as Daniel.
Check out "Makeba" by Jain. It's such an eclectic song and the music video is incredible
The fact that is voice is naturally that deep is just 😍
He’s such a genuine person and I’m in love with him.
Life goal? To find this man and marry him.
Michael Watkins hes actually dating one of my best friends brother !
Mine would be to meet him in a back room or a dark alley.
Get new goals. Your life sucks
hudsontoo1212 get off the internet
NOCTSY no problem! Can I come hang out with you “ladies” 😂
Of course his explanations are just as good as his picks. He's so fantastic, go see him n his band live if you have the opportunity.
Dude what is the name of your profile pic i been trying to find those stickers forever.
My partner and I saw him in San Antonio last week. It was glorious.💖💖💖💖💖💖
@@subliminal128 It's Mr. Yuck! I don't know if they make the stickers anymore, but I haven't looked in awhile either. Someone out there has to have a giant roll of them stashed away and is willing to part with a few haha.
That would be like watching the performers do the show behind a curtain .
He moves like a cartoon character, in the best way possible. Very charismatic
I HAVE THE BIGGEST CRUSH ON THIS MAN
Can everyone at Amoeba convince Orville Peck to do a cover for every single one of his favorite songs because I think he's the only one that can legally do them justice.
The Venn Diagram overlap of people that own a Kiss record and commented on Peck’s mask as a gimmick has to be huge.
I'll be the trend-breaker, then.
get their asses
Its just a circle.
It's only really a gimmick if you don't have talent to back it. He has talent and lots of it.
Well ok, ... and the mask is a gimmick.
He's like a kinky doctor zoidberg
Holy shit yes. Orville is he one act to finally make me start appreciating country music.
Mr Maws honestly, if you have an Apple Music, or Spotify, then I recommend scouring the more old-school country, particularly from the OG God, Hank Williams, circa the late 40s - 1953 (when he died at 29), up through the 60s and 70s... imo mainstream country really starts to suffer in quality once you get into the 80s and 90s, though that’s not to say that there aren’t phenomenal acts from every era, just that I think the best country music was made between Hank Williams start and the late 70s. As far as more recent decades, from the late 80s to today, I’m of the opinion that, aside from a handful of commercial artists/albums, the best country music is underground/indie, or alt-country as its often called, which I also recommend you digging into, if you’re interested.
Country is one of those genres where I personally think 90% of what is produced really is just crap, but if you know where to look, there’s something for everyone.. Oh wait, I’m full of it, that’s basically all genres of music, but country is one where I think most people don’t even know where to begin, unlike other genres where there’s more well known alt/indie or old school artists people use as starting points. At least I think that’s right, idk that’s my experience, I’m probably full of shit.. point being, there’s great country music out there, just gotta know where/when to look. ✌️
I'd recommend the podcast Cocaine and Rhinestones if you're wanting to get into country and it's history
@@nikolademitri731 amazingly thoughtful comment for TH-cam
Marlene Flores oh hey, thanks! 😅😁🙏✌️
Margot Price did it for me. Corb Lund and Hayes Carl are other great contemporary 'alternative I guess?' country artists. Oh and uncle tupelo, jeff tweedy's old band
can we be best friends? seriously lol. a country music star referencing hedwig and the angry inch is something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. Love love love
He’s a king. And that’s on period luv.
I don't know what it is about Orville Peck, I think it's his authenticity and just how genuine he is, I always end up crying!! I can't listen to more than 3 songs of his without crying 😭 I really love him
I fall for him more and more with each video I see of him. *sigh*
I didn't know watching Orville Peck fanboy over Whitney is everything I needed today.
My coworker turned me onto you. You're an inspiration to many. Love and respect Brother
the perfect man doesnt exi- never mind
His singing voice is amazing and god his speaking voice is just so soothing. I could just listen to him talk for hours.
This guy is basically a jojo character come to life
he needs to get buff to fit in perfectly.

@@yasmimf nah, he's a season 5 character with Bruno and the gang
I knew I recognized this feeling...
He's got the JoJo Vibe
Holy shit that's pretty accurate, imagine him being put in the actual show
orville talking about his love for bobbie gentry & patti smith back-to-back made my heart NUT omg
Orville seems like a nice guy, I'd have coffee with him. I like people who are a little offbeat! That mask is badass!
Yeah, he comes off as such a good guy, in all his incarnations!
Great taste in music, great artist! Quite frankly one of best music discovery of the last 5-10 years as far as I'm concerned.
So Orville Peck is the enigma of the 21st century
Orville Peck doing the "It's a car was ladies and gentlemen!" from Hedwig with his mask tassels would be LEGENDARY and such an amazing homage to such an amazing play/movie.
i love that when he laughs, he laughs with his whole body lol
I am so hopelessly gay for this man
Same
I can only wish to be a gay man because of him. ❤
I love how he knows his country music history. Dude is legit, love his music.
I want nothing more in my life than to sit down and have a conversation with him about absolutely anything.
Also when he said that he loves Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, I shrieked. I love him even more than I did.
I love Orville Peck, but watching this what's in the bag just made me cry, it's good to see so many inspirations of mine are the same for my hero, especially when he pulled out John Waters
I LOVE Orville Peck, he’s got an impeccable voice and his taste in music is spot on. John Waters movies are THE best.
I hope Orville goes far with his musical career, he deserves it with how creative and beautiful Pony has been!
most gorgeous blue eyes in the business
He’s got all the tall tale signs of being a hottie. I love him so much.
TBH, I’m not sure whether I want him to take off the mask or leave it on.
Okay, several things:
1st) i haven't heard a lot of his songs but i can tell ill like his singing voice. I do like his speaking voice too
2nd) not to sound too pervy, but he has very nice lips
And 3rd) the second he pulls out those X and Patti Smith albums, my heart was completely won over.
Give me more, Orville!
His mask makes his lips and eyes stand out, so it kinda makes sense. When i saw him live i couldn't help but notice how beautiful his eyes were!
I love that he loves B. Gentry! She and my grandfather dated in high school back when she was still Roberta Streeter. She's a family favorite.
He seems like fun, and also seems to reflect his inspirations in his own stuff, but in an original way. Loved this interview!
he just earned himself a new fan with the contents of that bag.
It's crazy how many of these artists I knew already but haven't fully explored, which makes like this guy even more and also makes me wanna explore music i already love more, dude's legit
Orville Peck is just the best! Great taste in music
Thanks Orville. I just discovered Bobbe Gentry because of you.
I just finished the video, and he loves EVERYTHING I love. It's uncanny!!!🤯
He’s everything. I love everything about him. I hope he would do collab with Lana Del Rey please. That would be amazing!
This dude has some killer taste in music. I must give him a listen as soon as I finish this clip.
I am So Damn Glad to hear someone recognize The Dixie Chicks for being the best possible punk ladies trio ever
His songs are such jams
"my boyfriend, merle haggard" mr peck i love youuuu
Couldn’t love this warm talented man more. He was having a bit of a Patrick Bateman moment with Whitney Houston 😂🙌🏼❤️. The Dillard’s were on The Andy Griffith Show as The Darlings. They were hippie/beatnik bluegrass and very cool.
Haha loved that American Psycho reference. 😎
Shoegaze Country, who knew I needed this in my life!
I saw him just 2 days ago! He played one of the best shows i've ever seen. I managed to get a signed copy of 'Pony' too ;^)
I am so happy to see Orville pull Bobbi Gentry. She is amazing. So much talent. And her discography is way more interesting than just the couple of songs she's known for. Personally I loooove her song "The Girl From Cincinnati".
I like him even more, what a wonderful genuine human.
What a very genuine individual. Great picks and positive vibes, love it!
i recently fell in love with the songs of Orville Peck, and finding out he is a big Merle fan as well makes me love him more.
I love him so
Much. His music helps me every day. He is saving lives.
I love everything about Orville and his music.
He's a gift to this world wow
his eyes😍❤️😭
He’s such a talented musician, and it’s incredible because here you can hear the passion and love for music in his voice.
So refreshing
He seems like such a down to earth guy. Definitely listen to Pony if you have not already.
I love this man with all my heart.
Not a big country fan, but i keep seeing this dude everywhere and after hearing him talk about all the stuff he likes i do want to call him up to have him make me like the dixie chicks. Sounds fun and engaging.
Bobbie Gentry is a queen, mad respect 😍😍😍
Orville Peck makes me wish I was a gay man.
Yes!

Thanks Orville and Amoeba for opening me up to so many wonderful artists and films!!
I could listen to him talk forever lol
I could watch/listen to entire podcasts of him talking about his favorite music and artists. He's so passionate about all of them
punk cowboy is my aesthetic, how'd he know....
I looked up Miriam Makeba after watching this and I'm so glad I did. What an amazing artist, and I'm loving her music. Thanks, cowboy!
I need that John Waters box set!! He's my hero, mentor, role model and idol.
Thanks Amoeba, cause all i needed in life was to hopelessly love whoever that is, more.
The few seconds they played of travelling soldier were enough to give me chills and teary eyes. The Dixie Chicks are fucking brilliant.
I don't know who this guy is but after watching this video, I am now a fan.
I love Orville, so this is awesome to see! Thanks, Amoeba!
I'm shook that Orville Peck actually knew how to say Xhosa. The gay cowboy is cultured and that is fantastic.
