Definitely agree with what you said about Twisted Metal. I miss the days of free bonus content like that in games. You finally reached that suspicious ledge from the early areas of the game? You get a Behind The Scenes museum. You beat the whole game? You get God Mode to screw around and break the game.
While far from a full game: There is a Demo for a cancelled game, speculated to be a possible Castlevania game, in Metal Gear Solid 3. It's been a while, but IIRC: when you're supposed to escape from a cell, post-torture, lay down on the bed, then save and quit. When you load your file, suddenly you're running and jumping around dual wielding swords fighting monsters, and turning into a werewolf thing. Until Big Boss wakes up from his nightmare about vampires.
Ugh, I used to work for a company called London Trust Media who provided PIA services. The CEO or whatever of LTM was a 20-something alcoholic Chinese millionaire who micromanaged while drunk. One time, he literally took his private jet to our call center to go on a drunken verbal rampage against the agents, and the manager of the call center owned him solid. Those were the days.....those were the days.....
By the way, you can apparently unlock the AX Cup in F-Zero GX, it's just extremely hard and took people like 10 years to do. You have to beat all the cups on Master difficulty. Though, it doesn't have the AX arcade interface like the AR code enables.
I thought that the original Rayman 2 was only included on Rayman 3 pretty early into the game, but didn't know that it was also inside The Great Escape also
All of AX's content (the tracks and characters, specifically) were already unlockable in GX. They just required you to beat the Story Mode missions on every difficulty to get it all.
Most of AX's content (Tracks, Parts, and Vehicles) are unlockable by clearing Master difficulty of each Cup in Grand Prix in 1st place and clearing the story mode on hard and very hard, respectively, then buying them in the shop. The only thing missing are the golden AX-exclusive parts that could be only earned by organized AX tournaments and only accessible nowadays by hacking.
I just love it when game developers hide full games within their games, like how doom eternal hid both the first and second games in their entirety. It’s also fun when they hide demos of upcomimg games and things that were scrapped during production. Like when the developers of no more heroes put an interact teaser for no more heroes 3 in the ending of the latest spin-off. (I forgot it’s name, but it was a top-down hack and slash.) Or when ratchet and clank would have their insomniac museum, a secret area that housed all the scrapped items and challenges that the developers didn’t want to throw out.
Loved the video as always Larry, and much needed it was in these times. Also, special thanks for the Twisted Metal nostalgia hit, I played waaaaaay too much of those games back in the day.
Easy to forget the Atari Lynx, but the cancelled "original" version of Battlezone 2000 is playable on the retail version with just a code. The original was cancelled by Atari bc they thought it was too difficult, but the developers left it in the game (its much better too).
The Rayman 2 prototype was only in the PlayStation version of Rayman 2, but with how many ports and re-releases that game got, I'd be confused too. And ironically, it's one of the silver linings of the PlayStation version as that port was rather butchered.
The PlayStation was the first video game system my parents ever bought me. It was 1998 and I was only 6 years old, and because I was so young and had only had an NES before that, I had no idea about what games were popular at the time. The first game my dad ever bought me was the original Rayman 2-D platformer. As a child, I always thought I just wasn't that great at video games because I could barely get past the 3rd stage. Little did I know that Rayman has a reputation as one of the hardest games ever made LOL and it was the first PS1 game I ever played. Not long after I started buying copies of PlayStation Magazine sold at the grocery store, and I played a bunch of demos of now classic games including Metal Gear Solid and Spyro. I ended up owning and playing a lot of them. God, there were some weird games for PlayStation being made (example: Mr. Mosquito 😂). Beating games like MGS as a child, it became pretty obvious to me I didn't suck at video games, Rayman was just hard! But I still look back at it with fondness for all the times I died, all the time my 6 year old self wasted trying to beat this impossible video game.
On a scale of all the things not happening, that's not happening _the most_ Nintendo keeps on pretending that the poor VB never existed. The 3DS would've been a magnificent opportunity to rerelease the catalog, but that didn't happen... I, too, wish to see it find the light of day someday. Same for Dragon Hopper. The game says it all. If anyone doesn't believe me just lookup "Roadkill intro" Anyway thanks for the videos during this time Larry. I always find the bizarre categories that you come-up with thoroughly entertaining and intriguing.
I was hoping metal gear solid 3 would be included. When snake is in the prison cell you can have a dream sequence that allows you to play a game based on killing zombies. Although the argument could be made that the hidden game in that title wasn’t complete, just a short demo of a canceled one.
You can still unlock all the AX tracks and characters by clearing GX's hardest story challenges and Diamond Cup on Master-Class, so I'm content with that. It's tough as nails, but very rewarding.
I'm a little surprised that "Guy Savage"(within the PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) wasn't mentioned, but I'm not sure it would have met whatever criteria this video set for the "Cancelled games hidden in fully released games" as the game was cancelled *after* being included within Snake Eater, not before.
Learning from SSFF, did you know that there's also a cancelled GBA port of Dakar 2 on the Gamecube version of it? And even it's entirely playable, all you need it's a GCN-GBA link cable and you'll be able to download the game to the GBA link cable (one track at time though due to the Link cable's RAM limitations).
My favorite cancelled game that was slipped secretly into a full game was the Guy Savage minigame in Metal Gear Solid 3. That was legitimately fun and I would have loved to have seen the final product.

I do forget how bloody good some of the Gamecube games looked and played - it's like the forgotten console! Good video Larry!
Always wonderful to see a new Fact Hunt. I've missed ya, Larry.
Hi, yes I read the captions.
Also, worth noting that the arcade tracks for GX are meant to be unlockable by bringing a GCN memory card to the actual arcade machine, which had a port to accept it. Then you'd be able to play them at home. The key problem there being it was almost impossible to play AX anywhere in the States. Fun idea, just really short sighted in practice.
ah thank you!
"Yellow Lums" - Heh.
Reminds to find a way to read/watch Urusei Yatsura, Rumiko Takahashi's first hit. Difficult, even One Pound Gospel and Maison Ikkoku have seen a manga release here, but not Urusei Yatsura...
Piracy
It's actually easier to find European language dubs.
i am happy i wasn't the only person that got the reference there
Didnt the show get a blueray release alongside Ranma of am I mistaken?
Not a huge Takahashi fan, but thought I heard that happened along the way
@@MixMasterLar i am pretty sure it got a blu-ray release at least in japan
Seeing scalebound, prey 2 and star wars 1313 in the beginning made me sad.
Not to mention Stargate: The Alliance's appearance. Man that still depresses me.
Sonic Xtreme... Doom 4... The Flash... I want them so bad...
(Also the ones you mentioned.)
I still want Mega Man Legends 3, and the FPS Megaman X being made by the guys who made Metroid Prime
Star Wars Battlefront III and Mercenaries 3 are the ones that really make me said. Oh and Driver 6.
Too soon
God I'd love it if they actually did a new F-Zero. I hope your flux capacitors being on the fritz are a good omen, Larry!
no mention of "guy savage"? that vampire hack and slash sequence hidden in metal gear solid 3? while it was a dream sequence to snake, it was intended to be sort of a proof of concept for another game kojima wanted to do, which was either a new ip entirely, or apparently zone of the enders 3. it was even removed from the hd and 3ds versions of mgs3.
im surprised you didnt even acknowledge it, considering how well know it is, at least among metal gear fans
O yeah i remember it. It was sort of like resident evil. But dmc actually was released.
He probably didnt mention it because so many people know about it.
I came expecting this exact mention but now I feel left out
I thought they stuck that in just because Kojima had been wanting to do a Castlevania. I don't think it counts as a cancelled product
@@ChibiKami it wasnt for castlevania tho despite the slightly similar concept
4:21 I don’t know whose idea that was but thank you. That gave me a good laugh.
thanks, had to put it in :)

I remember the hype the leak of a beta version of Pokemon Gold and Silver caused last year. Gaming companies could make big money with beta versions and unfinished games they have laying around in their files, rather than putting DLC everywhere.
Beta content specially is amazing for fans of a franchise because it shows the what ifs and early ideas
I actually played the arcade version of f zero in an arcade called galloping ghosts near Chicago, it was awesome since the chair you sat it moved when you moved your vehicle
It has a slot for GC memory cards, right?
@@Invidente7 yeah i remember seeing that and remembering the gamecube port of f zero
I played it in a celibration station in florida ages ago it was pretty sweet
@@xiopia3940 i went to galloping ghosts not too long ago, it was awesome the place had every imaginable arcade game including the old tmnt turtles in time arcade cabinet
@@Crimsontekkadan Galloping Ghost also has the Trog prototype he was discussing in the video
Definitely agree with what you said about Twisted Metal. I miss the days of free bonus content like that in games. You finally reached that suspicious ledge from the early areas of the game? You get a Behind The Scenes museum. You beat the whole game? You get God Mode to screw around and break the game.
Why is “Dont Copy That Floppy” playing on your sponsor section?
MC DP just really values your internet privacy
So you won't copy that floppy, obviously.
this is very good for the youtube algorithm more comments

While far from a full game: There is a Demo for a cancelled game, speculated to be a possible Castlevania game, in Metal Gear Solid 3.
It's been a while, but IIRC: when you're supposed to escape from a cell, post-torture, lay down on the bed, then save and quit.
When you load your file, suddenly you're running and jumping around dual wielding swords fighting monsters, and turning into a werewolf thing. Until Big Boss wakes up from his nightmare about vampires.
I can't believe it Larry. You forgot F-Zero Climax, your Flux Capacitor must be broken.
The old ad was removed, but the captions still mention it. As I say... Fact Hunt is awesome!
"Yellow Lums" Oh you.
I thought that the original Rayman 2 was only included on Rayman 3 pretty early into the game, but didn't know that it was also inside The Great Escape also
Man I for one would love to see a remaster of F-Zero GX for the Nintendo Switch and include content from F-Zero AX as well.
(I forgot it’s name, but it was a top-down hack and slash.)
Or when ratchet and clank would have their insomniac museum, a secret area that housed all the scrapped items and challenges that the developers didn’t want to throw out.
Loved the video as always Larry, and much needed it was in these times. Also, special thanks for the Twisted Metal nostalgia hit, I played waaaaaay too much of those games back in the day.
No worries bud, glad to have been of service :)
And ironically, it's one of the silver linings of the PlayStation version as that port was rather butchered.
wasn't it originally intended for Dreamcast?
Could you imagine if Nintendo included what was left of the Virtual Boy Mario Land as a bonus in Super Mario Odyssey
On a scale of all the things not happening, that's not happening _the most_
Nintendo keeps on pretending that the poor VB never existed. The 3DS would've been a magnificent opportunity to rerelease the catalog, but that didn't happen...
I, too, wish to see it find the light of day someday. Same for Dragon Hopper. Bound High was excellent!
My eyes hurt just from thinking of that....
@@SpiralPegasus you not used labo vr? It referes to the virtual boy
SpiralPegasus Well they did reference it in Luigi’s Mansion 3
@@dylan594 Which shows that they have enough integrity to aknowledge they made a mistake and not continue to pretend it never happened. That is some real growth right there.
Every few months or so I feel need to say,
Larry you are easily my favourite TH-camr, please don't ever stop.
The Urusei Yatsura reference!
7:22 - RIP Hitmen Productions
I'd love to hear you talk endlessly about twisted metal
Interesting you should mention 'RoadKill", a game set in a post-pandemic world recoiling from a virus with the symptoms (as the game puts it) "Fever, headaches, chills, muscle pain and (of course) coughing" and in which "Civil rights are suspended as research labs work around the clock to find a treatment." The game says it all. If anyone doesn't believe me just lookup "Roadkill intro"
Anyway thanks for the videos during this time Larry. I always find the bizarre categories that you come-up with thoroughly entertaining and intriguing.
Fast forward to 4:20 for the cute space girl named Lum.
2:46
I was hoping metal gear solid 3 would be included. When snake is in the prison cell you can have a dream sequence that allows you to play a game based on killing zombies. Although the argument could be made that the hidden game in that title wasn’t complete, just a short demo of a canceled one.
Yellow Lum. :) Never change, Larry.
Very unexpected and blessed reference
I was so hoping you'd mention Roadkill when talking about Harbor City. That game's great.
Larry is very informative and entertaining. And his voice is relaxing.
You can still unlock all the AX tracks and characters by clearing GX's hardest story challenges and Diamond Cup on Master-Class, so I'm content with that. It's tough as nails, but very rewarding.
@3:30 NOT Montreal, Montpellier. Ubisoft Montreal didn't even exist when the original prototypes for Rayman 2 were developed.
2:44 skip the ad you're welcome
I"m glad you mentioned Roadkill 'cause that's exactly what I was thinking of when you mentioned blending vehicle combat with GTA
Two whole _MUMPS_ of service? I'm on it. All about the mumps.
I appreciate that you provide subtitles. TH-cam's auto-generated ones suck.
Didn't think I'd ever see an Urusei Yatsura reference in your videos!
A Lum reference can often be quite shocking!
You forgot that a new Captain Falcon was announced July 23, 2025
My favorite cancelled game that was slipped secretly into a full game was the Guy Savage minigame in Metal Gear Solid 3. That was legitimately fun and I would have loved to have seen the final product.
Wish I could afford a VPN but sadly, $3 a month is too much when you're part of the working poor living paycheck to paycheck while being bent over a table by Comcast since they're pretty much the monopoly in my area.
.......okay then.
Great to see another list like this from you, Larry! Thanks for uploading, & here's looking forward to the next!
I need a new Fzero. I've been fiending for it for years
Same. But Super Pilot and Aero GPX seem to be the closest ones. The real deal would be very appreciated, so that Nintendo doesn't look stale.
@@custom-r you're right. I feel like because there is competition Nintendo is reluctant. I fear Nintendo lacks creativity in the racing department so they don't want to ruin it
3:54 "Know your enemy" strategy. Well played, Miyamoto-san, well played.

More of a proof of concept than an actual cancelled game, but Metal Gear Solid 3 had the nightmare where you play a violent hack and slash game called Guy Savage. It's a shame it never went anywhere, and was also removed in the HD collection.
Awesome to see another vid dude! Appreciate them. Interesting stuff
13:41 OH MY GOD, I OWNED THIS GAME FOR THE GAMECUBE ONCE. People said it was just a GTA clone, but you know what? This is the closest a Nintendo console got to having one of them (until, interestingly enough, the last 2 Saints Row games being released on the Switch), and I still recall having lots of fun with it.
This guy's video's are always brilliant to watch, deserves 1 million plus subs

I remember completing Rayman 2 100% one night and was surprised to see what could've been. I can only imagine if they stuck to their guns. Kinda funny considering we're back with 2D now.

Really happy to see Urusei Yatsura get a bit more recognition. Scott Falco's avatar does Ataru's dance at the end of his videos too! I'll put the 4:20 timestamp here for easy reference too ☺️
Was kinda hoping for a Timesplitters 2 mention :P. The whole game is remastered in Homefront: The Revolution, not just the first two levels. Has a game breaking glitch in most levels though
I might have to do a follow up episode to this now!
Hope we get our hands on Duke Nukem Forever builds from circa 2001

@bigevilworldwide1 so you're defending shady guy who screwed over developers and took money from their projects to fund Borderlands 2 developemnt?
Way to go.
Ok, that Urusei Yatsura reference completely caught me off guard. Especially because I only started watching it a few weeks ago. Didn’t know about that show until Whang made a video about its Italian theme song in his Tales from the Internet series. If I watched this video earlier that Lum cameo could have totally gone over my head. Nice reference, all things considered.
