Dire Straits were the biggest band in the world during this era, they were asked to headline this concert, but couldn't because they had a gig later in the day at the venue across the car park, so, after this performance, they literally walked across the car park to their own concert. They lead man here, is Mark Knopfler, one of the greatest, guitar players and songwriters ever. Next listen to Brothers In Arms from them, the official video is great, but live it's even better.
As others have said: Sultans of Swing and Telegraph Road Alchemy Live🤯🤯
It’s for sure on my list!
Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits is a fabulous guitarist, in the same class as Eric Clapton. Dire Straits had some amazing music back in the 70's and 80's. Queen (with Freddie Mercury) gave a stellar performance at this concert.
This is Live Aid - a billion people across the planet watched this concert live. Around this period Dire Straits were the biggest-selling band in the world and Sultans of Swing from their Alchemy tour is well worth a look.
Such a classic song & so many people really enjoying themselves.
More from Dire Straits ?
Sultans of Swing (Alchemy live) : if you listen just one, it must be this one... but after this one, you'll want to listen more from them
so then : Telegraph Road / Brothers in Arms / Your Latest Trick / Private Investigation / Romeo and Juliet / Tunnel of Love ... and many more, you won't find a single bad one with them.
I can certainly check out more!
👍👏
This was played at Wembley Stadium in the afternoon when Dire Straits were playing a run of show at Wembley Arena literally across the road. They crossed the car park and played their own show that same night! Some songs from the 10th July (3 days before this show) were filmed for TV, commonly known as Wembley '85. Tunnel of Love and Sultans of Swing being standouts.
Any music from Alchemy Live...
Hi there, thank you for reacting to DS.
Money for Nothing has a great video you’d like to check out.
Walk Of Life, Brothers in Arms, Calling Elvis are great and have cool videos too!
As regards live performances I’d recommend Sultans Of Swing, Telegraph Road and Tunnel Of Love from the Alchemy live concert.
I’d add You and Your Friend and Your Latest Trick from On the Night Live
I’d also recommend studio versions of Sultans of Swing (but not the official video that cuts off the legendary end guitar solo), Romeo And Juliet, Private Investigations, On Every Street and so many more!
Thank you!!
I think you need to listen to Walk of Life & Brothers in Arms from Dire Straits great songs brandy.
Hi. Just discovered your channel and subscribed. If you liked this I recommend Brothers In Arms from Dire Straits - Live "On The Night " 1993 and Sultans of Swing from Dire Straits Live Sydney Final Concert 1986. Cheers, all the best from Australia 😊🎸🎸🎸
Thank you so much!
The classic “Sultans of Swing”.
You have to react to Sultans Of Swing, but not to the "official music video" because the song ends before the final solo (it is cut), watch this full version and then if you want the live version in alchemy

The version on your link also fades out the song, sorry!
I'm an old hippie of 69 and though Rock is not what it was, there are still good, contemporary bands I listen to for solid modern rock like Halestorm, Dorothy, Liliac, the Warning, Plush and Samantha Fish amongst others who rock with an old school vibe but can appeal to both old rockers and modern fans. They are all also predominantly female or female led. My favorite this century by far is Lzzy Hale and Halestorm. I saw them 3 times between 2016 - 2019 and they are outstanding, they would have been superstars in the 70s and Lzzy Hale is the real deal and top notch on vocals, guitar, keyboards and a great songwriter. Try Freak Like Me for an official video and their are plenty of Live shows of theirs on You Tube but my favorite is them at Pink Pop 2016, one hour of them in peak mode in front of a huge outdoor crowd, the chemistry between them and the audience gives me a rush, they were so on as was the scene. Check it out and enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Dire Straits was dope, great performance!
Hi great reaction check out sultans of swing and telegraph road live
Added!
I was a kid and watched this live with my parents. We got cable in the weeks following so we could watch MTV!
Oh that’s so incredible!!
Oh cool…a classic
Start your Dire Straits journey with Mark Knopfler (40 plus years of Genius!) with the Alchemy Live (1983) version of Sultans of Swing, Telegraph Road, and Tunnel of Love. You will hear musical genius, storytelling songs, and guitar solos like you've never heard before....or since.!
No mobile Phones quality...
I was 7 in Ireland watching this and this song was always on the radio here. Listen to this song daily on repeat. Intro is one of the most classic intros to a song ever. What a singer sting was. Should check out the police which sting was lead singer in. Message in a bottle another song I had on repeat is epic.
Please react to telegraph road believe me is going blow your mind
