Marylin, don't try to minimize Franco's importance. She was killed by the police because this country only operates for it's elite. Our democracy is at extreme risk!
+Caio luiz + look at american history dealing with any type of black activist and let that be a witnesses to your now history of the assassination of this beautiful afro Brazilian activist she was gun down just like > Malcom, Martin and Medger.. then in the middle of broad day light assaninated its leader Kennedy.. then his brother shortly after..
Wtf you are taking about? This woman is responsible for the death of many policemans, what are this American people talking about what they don't even know? This video couldn't be more far from the reality, this leftists are KILLING Brazil, I invite anyone who supports left to come to Brazil, you will see the stupidity of this ideology at it's best. Wake up you morons
Ionut Serbanat she died because she is a threat to stabability Keeping the police from doing to secure victory She was a socialist She died for good reason
Some of the comments are truly disgusting. They never have been half as passionate and ambitious in life as this woman but they think they are soooo much smart and eyes-opened to undermine her name and her legacy. To them, all of which that doesn't suit their taste is propaganda whether they're factual or not.
paul han I wasn't talking about this matter, I was referring to leftist liberals generally. Look at American, British and Swedish leftist parties and college campuses. They always refuse to hear statistical facts from the right, they cancel college meetings with the right, preform protests, beating cops, interrupt classes, and conferences because they don't want to hear the other side. Liberals always use words like feelings, passion, love, caring and victim to justify their false facts and accusations.
You know what I see is wrongs committed on both sides. Just like all those radical liberals you pointed out, far-right wingers are not much different. They call every thing that doesn't seem to work out with their irrational, unrealistic beliefs propagandas, fake news, and even froxy to their enemy states. They undermine every civil rights movement by bring in their opponent's misdeed and generalizing them without looking into the context. So yeah, trash those SJWs and liberals as much as you want but don't assume that all of the people who support their movement is pretty much the same. The world isn't that simple.
paul han listen everyone who supports the Sjw, liberalism and third wave feminists IS wrong. What is logical to say is not every leftist is a liberal or as SJW etc...in this case that's absolutely true, but sjws and feminists are far left ( liberal ) ideological thoughts of leftism so everyone who supports them is a far left individual ( that you and me hate ). Currently the liberals are the ones causing problems in the western world. Brazil could be different, could be the other way around but that's how it is now. Anyway, I agree with you that both sides are fueling there extremist politicians to fight each other while normal right-left wingers are just scratching our heads.
This video is unfailingly biased when it talks about violence, because at no point does it mention the deaths of 150 police officers every year fighting gangs in the Rio-favelas. Is she the only heroine? These police officers also had families. Repeat; Around 150 officers died every year. White and black.
Anyone that dares to raise their voice for human rights, specially women or LGBT rights is targeted. Her voice will not be forgotten, her voice will be heard in the claims and demands from the people, we are her voice now
Hello from Brazil. Pretty nice video. To give you people the brazilian's perspective, Marielle was indeed one of a kind. She was just something special. But her death really divided the country. A lot of people from the right wing accused her of having an affair with a famous drug lord, which was proven to be false. They also started a smear campaign against her providing a lot of fake news and none of them stuck with the public. There's still a lot of talk about her and a violent clash between the left and the right wing is happening as we speak, specially on social networks/media. The great majority of the country - and the police - believe she was assassinated by police officers belonging to local militias that control a lot of Rio's favelas. Nobody has been arrested nor accused so far and it doesn't seem likely that there will be.
+we should have won the 2006 champions league No, she was black and she identified herself as an one. The expression pardo, mulato, etc. Is an expression that black latinos use to avoid calling themselves black, due to the inferiority stigma left by their racist and slavery historic past. It's every simple: WHATCH BRAZILIAN "NOVELLAS" AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES HAVE EUROPEANS PHENOTYPES.
And they are closer and closer to the person or people who wanted Marielle killed. Brazilian authorities informed they will get their name(s) in March/April 2024. 🤞🏻
"The police force in Rio is one of the deadliest in the world", of course it is, Rio is one very dangerous place, didn't you see how many police officer died in Rio?, only in 2017 134 police officers died in Rio, since the beginning of 2018 34 police officers already died in there, who commands most parts of the favelas in Rio are not the police but the drug dealers.
I love this channel. It serves as one of my primary sources for international information. However, there is one comment that I would like to make about race and culture. When referring to “black”people it seems more befitting to use the phrase African decent or generally Africans. Thank you for giving your audience the utmost respect.
I'm really revolted at how social and democratic activists in every countries face retaliation even more so from the extremists than the government ruling them. Even Mandela is trolled at his homeland as a vicious criminal.
paul han Because people like you treat Mandela and other figures like him as saints who've done no wrong ignoring the innocent people who died because of the Mandela couple
I won't go down to read the comments, because I'm 100% sure that I will read some of the most disgusting and appaling things ever written, either from american or brazilian right-wing trolls, the latter very apologetic to the far-right president candidate Jair Bolsonaro.
Don't worry. It's not so much different in my country South Korea. SK also was a dictatorship run by military generals til June Revolution in 1987 and during that era, many democratic activist fought and lost their lives to acheive the liberty and freedom we enjoy today. However, many right-wingers and nationalists trash them as communists, and North Korean spies. People are not much different even their lowest and disgusting trait. (Which is another reason why we shouldn't discriminate people according to their race.)
Those activists were pro-capitalists. (I mean it was and is still illegal to be against capitalist ideas in SK according to National Security Law) So yeah, I'm sure they would.
paul han they wouldn't, and you said it yourself. They were capitalists, capitalism has nothing to share with socialism, not in any possible way. just grab a book about Communism, socialism or the leftist ideology and read it for once. Then you'll realise how similar Franco and the dictatorship regime are and what the ideology they have in common.
Thank you very much for this video. It means a lot to many of us, Brazilians. I would like to also suggest a video about the populist and extremist discourses we're having in our country, more specific about intolerance, racism, sexism and homophobia coming from some candidates. If you want name, the Bolsonaro's family is one, specially about the head of the family, Jair Messias Bolsonaro. The world needs to know what's happening in Brazil and what could it turn into to with such type of candidate.
I feel so bad. She would’ve made a great Brazilian President. I want to become president and I wanted to meet her. I hope she’s enjoying heaven and that her child is doing ok. Let’s hope the movement continues without her influence.
*I'm Brazilian and I promise you: nobody loved this woman. Her ideas were absolutely against Brazil and the Brazilians but the media is forcing her death as if everyone loved her, but the truth is that nobody knew her. It was tragic, for sure. But let it be clear: his ideas represented almost no one in Brazil.*
I'm Brazilian and believe on me: these are your ideas and your own perceptions. Speak by yourself and don't "promise" things that are not correlated with the facts.
This can go two ways. The movement can settle and disappear, or what I hope will happen, inspire those to see these injustices and rise up to defeat them.
Tragic but also fascinating, a socially and economically strong Brazil which she and many others strive for is a truly noble cause Good work on covering her life
As a brazilian myself, I can confirm that Franco's views and actions did nothing but halt the country's economical progress, sspecially due to her anticapitalism views. While what happened was truly unfortunate, she must not, in any way, be considered a hero. Just an uninformed troublemaker with an inflated speech that held a spot which could have gone to a politician that truly cared for order and progress
Young Archivest while her pro black people part of the movement was indeed quite noble, anticapitalism is a view that we, brazilianss, cannot afford to have. We are currently undergoing an economical crisis, our top professionals, ssuch as engineers (and I speak as an engineer graduate myself) and scientists are not being absorved by the market because people like Mariele and anyone elsse that opposes economical growth keep pusshing companies away. This iss a reasson why most of highly qualified professionals now talk about leaving the country, myself included.
People from all over the world, this is the kind of person that represents the conservative side of Brazil. They deny our black heroes, kill us every single day in our favelas, make us poorer while they get richer (Brazil is one of the most inequal countries in the World). We need help to save our fragile and young democracy!
kevrunnthat A Russian lawyer and anti corruption political activist who is against and a critic of Putin. He has been involved in protests in the country. Navalny tried to run for the President of Russia but was barred from the Russian election that was last month. He had been attacked with green dye twice last year and arrested numerous times because of things like the protests. Boris Nemtsov, one of his allies and a Russian politician who also opposed Putin, was assassinated in 2015. Alexei Navalny has a TH-cam channel where he talks about Russia, if you want to see it. Search ‘alexei navalny channel’ and the 1st channel (in Russian and an ‘!’ as the profile picture should appear). The videos have English subtitles.
She looks pretty mixed race to me not just black same with Obama he is mixed race but people so often call him black. I think people really don't understand ethnicity. She doesn't even have black skin so calling her black makes you sound stupid/ignorant. Go visit Africa if you want to see what a black person looks like or go visit Brazil where most people are mixed race. "Blacks" in Brazil are actually mixed race (7.3% Amerindian 50.9% African 41.8% European) so it is misleading to simply call her black.
The problem is, people in Brazil are not in anger because she was black, but because she supported PSOL, wich is the socialist polytical party, (sorry for my bad english)
Might be informative to point this out, If you separate black and mixed race, you'll see that in Brazil only 7% consider themselves black. The rest of those 54.9% are all types of mixture. White and indian, indian and black, white and black, etc.
Temer is technically an Arab. Both his parents are Lebanese immigrants. I guess he is still light-skined, but when most people say "white", they mean people of european descent, which he is not. He still sucks though. Besides that, cool video. Nice to see my country in the spotlight.
Lol, "most people" must live in America. In Europe a Lebanese is considered "white". Even European right-wingers use ancestry or culture not an imaginary difference in skin color when it comes to the Mediterranean. People around the Mediterranean have a pretty similar range of skin colors everywhere.
True in USA but race definitions recently changed for political reasons. Italians weren't considered white either when they first immigrated to USA. Now the definition of white is more broad causing the old fashioned white nationalist groups to feel threatened.
well the problem of violence in brazil is the lack of liberty, the socialism and the big state(and inefficient) make this civil war who killed more 50k(its not just rio its everywhere to the big cities to the countryside)
I guess when they came to her and told her the money or the Bullet she took the bullet. Incorruptible till the end. Rest in peace beautiful black queen.
Thank you Now This for showing what's happening in Brazil. We need more episodes about this latin titan and it's democracy decay, especially the prison of former president Luís Inácio Lula da Silva.
That is not the truth! You are involved with paramilitary groups (militias) and support dirty cops because you are in their payroll. You are payed to spread lies and missinformation to make dirty politicians jobs easier. PS: see it is easy to make a bunch of lies. No a single one of those lies you people spread has been proven, just like what I just said!
So even though she was a black women from a favella who made a stupid mistake due to which she became a single mother, she managed to finish a prestigious university and make a career, subsequently ranting about the terrible inequality. Ummmm... hasn't her life kind of proved that there is sufficient equality of opportunities?
No no no no. She was involved with 2 different criminal factions, she was in the same party which defends communist dictatorships like Venezuela and the party has connections with another party, PT, which is national-socialist and ruled Brazil for more than 10 years under a doubtful vote system of electronic urn. She was killed by the same criminals who financed her political campaign. She was getting richer and richer in less than a year.
more than 30 police officers killed this year in the same city she was murdered. Where is the commotion? Not that her case is not important but let's open our eyes to all the debris on the rug.
I think it is cool she was standing up & saying things for her community, however it seems like all she did was blame corrupt politicians & tried to combine feminism with Communism which is disgusting. (ProFemale rights, & anti communist)
Hispanic are people in south America who speak Spanish. Brazil speaks portuguese. Portuguese, Italian, Greek and Spanish people are still classified as white even if they have darker eyes/hair and are more tan
Inspiring and she will never be forgotten.
I’m here because Angela Davis mentioned her. Grateful I looked her up. May she rest in power.
When you stand for what is right, sometimes they will kill you,Terrible situation.
Comma Kazi she was exposing the militias and was killed with police bullets.
The man who killed her was arrested and he is a neighbor of the president, Bolsonaro
Thank for introducing her for me. The first time I've known her :-0
Marylin, don't try to minimize Franco's importance. She was killed by the police because this country only operates for it's elite. Our democracy is at extreme risk!
André Brasil como você sabe que foi a Polícia? Ou você acha que foi?
How do you know it was the police?
You didn't know her like 95% of Brazilian folks didn't. That's how important she was.
Like many activists, she died because of the world's powers which couldnt understand the world need a change in good.

Keeping the police from doing to secure victory

This is dumb
because people like u didnt learn anything from the USSR
Marylin Mulata who had the majority of votes from favelas?

To them, all of which that doesn't suit their taste is propaganda whether they're factual or not.
paul han passion doesn't have seat in the political world. Facts and evidence do. Two things that leftists can't bear.
And what facts and evidece did she lack? That bigotry wasn't wrong after all?
paul han I wasn't talking about this matter, I was referring to leftist liberals generally. Look at American, British and Swedish leftist parties and college campuses. As a Brazilian I must say that it was a very accurate video and congratulations for the research work!

Aposto que ficou de mimimi quando seu namoradinho levou um pescotapa do Ciro Gomes. Câncervadores com seus típicos relativismos .
I have a question. Why do they call her black is she not a pardo brazilian?
+we should have won the 2006 champions league
No, she was black and she identified herself as an one. The expression pardo, mulato, etc. Is an expression that black latinos use to avoid calling themselves black, due to the inferiority stigma left by their racist and slavery historic past.
It's every simple:
WHATCH BRAZILIAN "NOVELLAS" AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES HAVE EUROPEANS PHENOTYPES.
This happens to Colombian activists every week... I still don't get why the international press never reports on this.
Beautiful woman my condolences to her family may her soul rest in peace gone but not forgotten
This is a tragedy

Guilherme Wieczynski they work with a part of the battalion that is corrupt, but this woman's party makes it appear that only the police are corrupt.
Enoque Sousa Morning
Culturally enriched!
Whoever thinks she was killed for ideology is very naive. People kill for money.

Paul Han, this happens a lot in Brazil!
paul han Maybe because Mandela was actually a criminal?
Constantive V I really don't get why some people say that. Can you please elaborate?
paul han Because people like you treat Mandela and other figures like him as saints who've done no wrong ignoring the innocent people who died because of the Mandela couple

Never knew who she was till today watching aljazeera

You're right to do so.
Don't worry. It's not so much different in my country South Korea. Mr Eskimo lol
Mr Eskimo I live in NJ
So sad that she is gone
She supported the PSOL, the socialist polytical party, but the media doesn't tell you that. (sry for my bad english)
Grankers You are one of the most sickest and disgusting person I ever met on the Internet
Marielle was not a rising political star in Brazil, she was barely known in Rio
That was really interesting. Thanks for covering these topics... so far I haven't seen many other news outlets cover this in such detail
You are right.
How powerful is Romania?
Ilmārs Cukurdupsis no thank you
Fluffy Unicorn k
Lol
I alwaysed wondered, how is the race thing in Brazil? Are like, 'white' Brazilian racist to 'black' ones.
Major Skies Yes. Am Brazilian, can confirm
Major Skies Well, yes, but this only applies to a minority of situations.
Major Skies The biggest cases of "racism" is against the poor, especially the ones living in the favelas.
Major Skies white people aren't racist to black ones in Brazil. That's all leftist media lies.
Major Skies oldest persons are very racist happly younger people are least but yet it exist
If the aliens are here to help us help ourselves, it’s long past their time to act because we humans are sliding downhill faster and faster.

You should talk about Gloria Álvarez in Guatemala.
This vídeo is very shallow... Just show one naive side of view...
THIS CHANNEL
I guess when they came to her and told her the money or the Bullet she took the bullet. Incorruptible till the end. Rest in peace beautiful black queen.
You should do a video on El Salvador's Oscar Romero
NowThis World, could you do Oliver Ivanovic?
Great.
Thank you Now This for showing what's happening in Brazil. We need more episodes about this latin titan and it's democracy decay, especially the prison of former president Luís Inácio Lula da Silva.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Marielle Presente
Now do "how powerful is Presisdent Rodrigo Roa duterte"
She was a crime suporter who was murdered. Ironic
She wanted to stop crime too, you daft.
She wanted to disarm the police, if she did that Rio would literally become like African Slums
Really? So cops are criminals then right? Since you know she was actually murdered by a police officer.
Video on Costa Rica new President and Vice-President?
Well calling Temer president is a bit of a stretch
Luiz Souza Quem elegeu o temer foi você seu comunista de merda. Ele não chegou lá atoa.
Wow! Astonishing coverage
Wasn't she also involved with drug dealers?
No, she wasn't. That's fake news

MARIELLE PRESENTE ✊🏾
that's not the truth, she was involved with drug dealers
Luiz Mauro fake News
That is not the truth! You are involved with paramilitary groups (militias) and support dirty cops because you are in their payroll. You are payed to spread lies and missinformation to make dirty politicians jobs easier.
PS: see it is easy to make a bunch of lies. No a single one of those lies you people spread has been proven, just like what I just said!
Rising politician? Nobody even knew who she was
could you do a cover on ASIFA, 8 yr old gruesomely met her demise in the hands of barbaric right wing animals in india..
So even though she was a black women from a favella who made a stupid mistake due to which she became a single mother, she managed to finish a prestigious university and make a career, subsequently ranting about the terrible inequality. Ummmm... hasn't her life kind of proved that there is sufficient equality of opportunities?
She was an abortist. Is it actually human rights? Babies are also humans, aren't they?
She was not a hero
I hope Jair Bolsonaro becomes Brazil’s next President. He will make Brazil Safe Again, he will make Brazil Great Again.
While I certainly have disagreements with Franco, it is inspiring to see her doing these things!
Fake news.
No no no no. She was involved with 2 different criminal factions, she was in the same party which defends communist dictatorships like Venezuela and the party has connections with another party, PT, which is national-socialist and ruled Brazil for more than 10 years under a doubtful vote system of electronic urn. She was killed by the same criminals who
financed her political campaign. She was getting richer and richer in less than a year.
Look at this women, a legend whereas im like *I LIKE PIZZA*
She's not a legend
dont like leftist
more than 30 police officers killed this year in the same city she was murdered. Where is the commotion? Not that her case is not important but let's open our eyes to all the debris on the rug.
versha where is judah!?
I think it is cool she was standing up & saying things for her community, however it seems like all she did was blame corrupt politicians & tried to combine feminism with Communism which is disgusting. (ProFemale rights, & anti communist)
she doesn't seem black to me
I'm Eritrean, she look like me and also all my people's Eritreans
putincopter dude, look at her hair. She’s black. She’s just fair.
Red salute Comrade! Your fight will be an inspiration for women throughout the world.
You guys are fast
This is dope to learn about.
"All white men" Idk about you guys but they didn't look white to me. They might pass for Italian though, but I am going 2 assume they're Hispanic.
Hispanic are people in south America who speak Spanish. Brazil speaks portuguese. Portuguese, Italian, Greek and Spanish people are still classified as white even if they have darker eyes/hair and are more tan
Great person R.I.P
Sadly, she got killed because she was doing something to fight against the elites in Brazil.
The "elites" supported her.
