One thing that's really cool about your videos is how thorough they are. I for one really appreciate being able to sit down for a half hour or so and really see a pedal run through its paces. It's a refresh to the 100 mile an hour, condense everything to keep our goldfish attention spans....Keep it up man!
Great demo, as usual. I really like the way it breaks up, but I don’t think I could get past the crackly decay. Reminds me of the Boss Blues Driver, frankly. I know it wouldn’t be noticeable in a mix, but it still bothers me.
Hay mark I use benson preamp & stonkbox . On two amp the preamp is amazing. My amp are blueamp mercury 1 ×2 clean great there mod on side change. Voicing more uk to u.s sound. As I add preamp from benson omg add bit it give me lot opinions play with preamp love in clean settings don't switch off . If I push full on it get A natural amp fuzz like amp going Blow up I like stonkbox is great to it different mix of to to cool . Now see Germanian box another tone option add to , got think about it for buy it Get Overwhelming ah . But help in different music cut Through mix how play dark thick you need it cut through in Frequencies in that way. If see try out . I been thinking get another benson preamp have it set dirt fuzz sound in my Presets for my 2nd hand gigrig g2 when redo whole Pedalboard again. Ah ah To me two preamp little like on vox amp clean normal other topsy cut with lovely cream tones still Clarity . But they not amp that how I hear it Treble boost way . Thank for video show two. What they sound like 👍
I listen to your intros no matter what product you're demoing. They're always super very musical and tasteful. Have you ever tried the Looking Glass by DOD and SHOE? I picked one up, and I'd be curious what you thought of it and how you might use it.
I’ve been getting more into jags and teles myself, I use fender guitars almost exclusively. Also love Benson’s pedals, they might be my favorite manufacturer of the last decade. I use their delay on the regular along with the germanium fuzz. I had sold my preamp regrettably to purchase the origin effects revival drive but am coming back to purchase the germanium preamp. Simplicity and masterful engineering.
Great video. Any chance you can AB it with the OG germanium boost too? I’m curious to know the differences there and haven’t seen other videos on this :)
I am pretty happy with my Benson devices I knew about them through you. Thanks Mark for all yours videos. You have a friend here in Paraguay South America
I've been using the Benson GermBoost into a Hudson Electronics BC-24V-USA as my preamp into a solid state power amp. Those go to two Weber 1X12 cabs. Sometimes some wet pedals after the Hudson. Happy...
Funny enough i think this video sole me on the OG benson preamp. I currently use the GB as a tone shaper right after my compressor. I love the sounds from the GP but I suffer a lot from option paralysis, and i already have the germanium boost which i LOVE (and is only one knob). Thinking of grabbing the Preamp, setting and forgetting it, and running the GB into it on my pedalboard for a little best of both worlds type scenario. Great review as always!
Honestly that’s how I ran the preamp for years and this video, as stated, was as much to showcase the benefits of both as it was to advocate for how much I like the new one
I haven’t actually even taken a mental note of the new one has a spot for a 9v. I assume so considering the original did but I have never once relied on batteries for my pedals.
@@markjohnstonofficial Seriously cool. I am more and more focused on recording DI, and/or bypassing an amp's preamp and using a preamp-style pedal straight into the power amp. Thanks for the deep dive here, starting with the backstory after the intro. I would have absolutely assumed this was "just" an updated version of the OG model. Time to check my bank account...

intro goes so hard and I love it.
The Jag AND the Tele?? Be still oh my heart!
sometimes it just feels right

Is it good for playing straight into a PA?
You could but I would highly recommend using a cab sim of some kind with it. That’ll be where it feels more like a real amp.
Intro track feels awesome

Is there any benefits from having this versus having the regular pre amp plus the germanium boost?
The direct sound slays ❤

Oh man. Was just gonna order one today. Mark are you psychic?
What is that lovely black semi-hollow body guitar, Mark? It looks and sounds terrific.
Josh Williams Guitars Stella. It’s amazing

Germ boost is an all time best pedal.

Great vid as always Mark!! Thanks!!
🤘👍🏿
Amazing opening track!
Hi Mark. What’s the source of the drum track on the intro? EZDrummer? Logic? Sounds great!
Mixwave Aaron Gillespie
@@markjohnstonofficialbeen using it in my tracks. So easy
And mixes well. My last video was on the benson germanium preamp and reamped this kit through a stereo pair of them and it was awesome.
Thanks Mark.
Ahhhh... Love Love Love.....
inspiration @Mark 🎸🤘
Does it run well on battery?

The direct/Ox section is amazing. Thanks!
That germanium influence is HUGE in creating the approximation of “amp sag” its so cool

STAND UP
Sometimes the song demands it
It 100% does!! Thanks as always. @@markjohnstonofficial
Jesus loves you!
The 52 Tele is such a great guitar for post rock and ambient. Amen.
