    You know I am a fan bro. Everyone loves Jezebel but your Roadrunner clone is my favorite. You may remember I once mentioned I put zoomies on my Roadrunner similar to how you have them on Jezebel. They hang out between the door panel and the rear wheel and look absolutely badass. I need to get it posted up someday so you can see it. Sadly I had a wiring disaster and am in the middle of completely re-wiring the entire dash with a replacement rallye dash that I scavenged from a '74 Satellite Sebring Plus. Soon as she is done and runnin again I will send you a vid. She's no stroker but I steal about 525 horses out of my 440. I think you would approve.

    I appreciate what you've done there. I too had a '73 Satellite Sebring plus in High school, but that was back in '76. it was b5 blue with a blue interior and black vinyl roof. I put a roadrunner hood on it too, when I had some front end damage and had the car repainted. It had a big block 400, 8-3/4 limited slip rear end, buckets, auto and console. I sure wish I had kept it like you have. I'd love to find one that was fairy affordable. Your cars are cool dude! keep up the good work!

      Jim Gerow If you’re actively looking for a Satellite, I saw this one for sale when I was browsing Craigslist cars. I was looking for one for myself, but I decided I should put it off until summer, thanks to horrible weather where I am. It seems to be decent and it’s affordable, so maybe a good consideration? Anyways, have a nice day! richmond.craigslist.org/cto/d/petersburg-1973-plymouth-satellite/7032687534.html

      SpicyBubblegum; yes that car looks good, and it’s priced right. I’ll have to consider it. It’ll probably be $1800 to ship it to Oregon. I’d like to check it out in person before I lay down the cash though.

      @@ScottsSpeedShop Ok,' I did it! I picked up a rust free, all numbers matching, real '73 roadrunner. Its' been garaged its entire life, originally from California with the owner I bought it from, who's owned it for 15 years, brought it to Portland Oregon. This last year he decided to repaint it. He removed the interior, glass and all the chrome. He has done several projects prior, but after he started the repaint and body work he decided he should build a house and directed his attention in that direction. When he advertised it, I was the first to see it and didn't give anyone else a chance. It is a black on black original paint, 400-4bbl big block, console car. I can't wait to finish the bodywork and paint and put the glass, chrome and interior back in.

    Love the Satellite and what you said about the six pack makes sense, and no vacuum diaphragms to worry about. I have a 400 in my 48 Dodge pickup I want to someday build a 500 stroker out of, should I ever find the funds. Very underrated big block the 400, mill the heads to bring the compression up and they wail!

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah man, you definitely have a great starting point, if you could get the compression up, a good cam, and just a better than stock intake, you'd be amazed what a 400 could do. That 48 Dodge does sound pretty freaking sweet with a 500 cube stroker

    • @frigglebiscuit7484
      @frigglebiscuit7484 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the stock piston 400 in my dart is about 8.5:1 (yes i measured it, idk why its so much higher compared to the other 400s. im even using a .040 head gasket. with a .020, its like 8.9:1). i have a summit k6400 cam, 452 heads with bowls cleaned up, weiand action plus intake, and 750 street demon. my butt dyno says about 375-400hp, and looking at a similar build that was dynoed, i think im pretty close. these engines are no joke.

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They just need a few tweaks and they are very strong engines, you honestly don't even have to stroke them, just a good cam, intake, and carb, is really all they need.

    Always cool when you do a video on the Plymouth,those are my favorite and the coolest car ever made,in my opinion.1971-74Plymouth Roadrunner,Satellite,Dodge Charger also,they don't make automobiles like that anymore.Did you have to turn down only the mains on the 440 crank or did the rod bearing journals require work also?With such a high revving engine,have you had any trouble with your valve train(valve springs,rocker arms breaking etc)?The last high revving engine I built was a big cube Widsor small block and had trouble breaking poly-locks on the rocker arms,curious if you had any similar problems.Can't wait until you get the new engine and four speed in the Satellite,that things gonna be so damn fast it will outrun the air,you'll have to slow down to take a breath,hahaha.

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      From what I remember we had to turn down only the main journals and the counterweights, we could have offset ground the rod journals to get more stroke out it, but chose to leave those alone. We have not had any issues with the valve train, the rockers are the factory stuff and they were incredibly low mileage, the heads,springs, valves all came from the same race engine, it all works quite well. I luckily don't have to worry about poly locks since Mopar uses a shaft rocker setup, the new stroker/4 speed is going in my Charger, I am not gonna mess with the drivetrain in my Satellite, it is pretty damn good stuff.

    got a Bblock six pack setup myself, but never gotten around to installing it, had a 72 charger with a 400 back then, but was just too chicken to fiddle with a multi carb setup, broke down and dropped a torker 383 intake with a carter carb... had 440s ever since... the numbers on the carbs call for a mid 60s corvette tripower setup, also with a full mechanical action... a friend told me thats the way you bought the kit back in the 70s over the mopar dealer parts counter... maybe ill carve myself a pair of intake spacers and try it on my 440 charger

I take mine to a bit over 6000rpm, you sound pretty confident it is safe to 7 plus? What RPM do you reckon peak torque is at? Cheers Dan.

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad that you have been enjoying the videos my friend, I would hazard a guess that this engine makes somewhere in the 450hp range and probably 500 for torque, it is really tough to say. It has some quality work and parts in it, but without a chasis dyno anywhere near me, all I can do is guess. 6000 is really a safe range, I don't take mine to 7000 very often, only when revving it or I feel like it is necessary. Hope that helped my friend, and I love those Aussie Chargers

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could but there is a pretty big issue, the 71-72 have a body contour that isn't present on the 73-74 cars. Look really close to the bottom of the fenders, doors, and quarters, you'll see what I am talking about.

    Nice car, when it wasn't starting, I thought that thing needs to be choked, right then the words popped up, you don't have a choke on it.
    You may know this, once it's going if you pump it about 1/4 throttle super fast, that will squirt a bunch of gas in it to make up for no choke, you may flood a few times till you get the system.
    I had a 74 RR with a stock 400, is that the same 400 you started with, I don't remember if it was a big block or not?
    I also had a 73 RR with a 340 four speed, it had a little head work a cam, and high rise intake four barrel, it ran pretty nice till it blew up.
    I don't get the why you edited in the high speed engine sound, you wouldn't want to do that to a cold motor anyway.

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I typically hold the throttle until I feel the fuel pump catch up with me, I can tell when the engine will support itself, as for speeding it up, I did want to have a long section of video where it was just warming up, but now that I look back on it, it would have been alright to leave it alone. Sounds like you've had quite a nice collection of cool old cars my friend. The 400 is indeed a big block, in fact it has the largest bore of any big block mopar at 4.340 whereas the 440 is 4.320 and the 426 Hemi is 4.250, the difference is the stroke

      Those 400's were great engines to build. My grandfather had a 73 SE CHARGER WITH A 400 4BBL.
      WHEN HE DECIDED TO DRIVE HIS 70 HEMI CHALLENGER I ASKED HIM TO SELL IT TO ME. I THREW A MILD BUILD ON THE ENGINE AND TORQUEFLIGHT. PUT A SELF MADE SHIFT KIT IN THERE AND THING, HEAVY AS HECK WITH NOT THE FASTEST STOCK ENGINE BUT ONE THAT DID NOT NEED MUCH TWEAKING AND A BIT BEEFIER TRANS WITH GOOD INTERNALS AND MY GRANDFATHERS DESIGN ( I BUILT MOST OF THEM ( 727 TORQUFLITE SHIFT KITS) A SLAP STICK
      A SET OF GOOD " CHEATER SLICKS" 😉
      THAT BIG OLE GIRL WOULD BUST THE TREE AND DOWN THE QUARTER SHE WOULD GO. NOT MY FASTEST CAR OR EVEN CLOSE BUT FOR HOW LITTLE WAS DONE TO IT I WOULD LIGHT UP THE BOARD at 13.05.
      Used to throw alot of 396 and 350 chevys , 390 fords and 351 clevelands and some older 428 cars into a tail spin.
      I kept the inside and outside stock looking and the engine compartment... Looked like it had never been touched.
      Alot of those guys i beat with that 73 i would catch looking all over for a bottle ha ha.

      You both have very valid points, in terms of what works better, it is actually a dual quad, you have 8 venturis feeding 8 cylinders, instead of 6 venturis feeding 8 cylinders, but there is no denying that a six pack is just significantly more badass to look at. I love dual quads, but anyone can set them up, takes a pretty special carb guy to get a 3x2 setup dialed in

    What i see on the V8 engines is how they not move at all.. My engine is alwais shaking... Now i have to replace New motormounts.. Every mecanic i talked to say its the heavy camshaft.. Thats in it.... 302 Ford.

    • @ScottsSpeedShop
      @ScottsSpeedShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is normally for a v8 to shake a little, but too much shake could be an engine that is out of balance, like the crank, rods, and pistons, weren't balanced at a machine shop. The heavy shake could also be very low idle speed, or a timing issue. It could also be a big ass cam as well. There are many reasons for an engine to shake alot.
