While he had three other projects before this; it's when Capital 'came into the picture', that the Journey really started! When you are done with the journey you should go back and see what you missed. It is well worth it 😃
Great reaction - Happy to see that you've discovered NF! The black balloons represent "burdens"; they're a common symbol during the NF "The Search" era (his 2019 release, which was his 4th studio album). NF weaves a LOT of symbolism through his discography, much of which will be lost (no pun intended) on you if you watch things out of sequence. If you're interested in taking the "NF Journey", the best place to start is his first album "Mansion" -- check out "All I Have" & "Intro" (both have official music videos), then "Mansion" (lyrics only) -- that will set a solid foundation. Enjoy! #nfrealmusic
A bar is actually something taken from music theory. It actually denotes the number of words within a given line usually 16. Though sometimes people I think use it to me with the 4/4 timeframe. Traditionally A rap lyric would be consider a bar if it has a subject ending with a metaphor or simile. Though now I believe it is just generally used I most people as you said to denote a sick lyric. I think like you most people don't know what it means unlike you they pretend to know lol. NF one of my favorite Artists. Aside from the late great Chester Bennington, Ren, Nate(aka NF) and Tyler Joseph of twenty one pilots (with the greatest drummer ever Josh Dunn) are my top(pun intended) three favorite artists.
Ha, actually know what a bar is in terms of music theory timing. It just had never occurred to me that use of "that's a bar!" with lyrics might be related :-)
You are well on your way with your NF Journey. This song is part of the NF Journey and so the storyline about the black balloons will come up as you go through the journey. They represent burdens. There are quite a few songs that are not going to spoil the NF Journey. You might have noticed that although Hopsin usually cusses in his music but out of respect Hopsin did not curse. So you can sprinkle in to your NF Journey a few songs along the way. Your next song should be Mansion. Don't worry about the songs without videos. Some of NF's best music does not have a video. Just trust the story will carry the reaction. As for dropping in some of NF's new music along the way, the NF Clouds Mixtape is good but don't react to Clouds, Paid My Dues, Just Like You, Lost (that one is already done but it is part of the journey) and Drifting. Every other song on the Clouds Mixtape is good to drop in if you want to sample some newer music. I would suggest another collab with Tech N9ne called "Trust", "Story", "Layers" are all top-notch. Lastly, Hopsin tells a funny story about making this video. He said NF convinced him to bury himself in the snow which was very cold, but then after he was buried NF and his co-director Patrick proceeded to discuss the shot for the next 40 minutes while Hopsin was buried. He was not happy! LOL.
NF came first and Ren was heavenly influenced by hin wuth his jusic. Good arraival to the NF journey, if needed I can provide you with the full song journey list.
NF is mental health/motivation rap, mostly, with a few normal songs here and there. He's so well-respected because he is capable of doing all sorts of different styles of music, he keeps it mostly kid-friendly, he has a strong message, and everything about him is universally solid. His videos, lyrics, production, message, cadences, beats... Everything is normally solid. He isn't well-known as a celebrity, because he has avoided all celebrity type events, he almost never does interviews, never does promotional appearances, commercials, rarely does features, etc. He could certainly be one of the biggest artists on the planet if he actually wanted to be famous, but he does not, yet he still is. His fans will beg you to go on the journey, which is like a 40 song relentless barrage of his story, as he has a storyline in alot of his music that he follows in some songs. I'm kind of against the journey, as a lot of his best songs are not even a part of it. Mansion, however, is a song you have to listen to. I'm not a big fan of a lot of the songs at the beginning of the journey, but mansion is a 10/10.
I think I've got that fixed; I normally react solo and had to change the settings some for 2 people. One setting wasn't quite right, but it didn't become apparent until long after we finished the reaction (and you can only react once!)
learning millenial and gen z slang from gen x. where the hell did i come from? not from where they end sentences in prepositions. CORRECTION ~ from where the hell did i come?? and actually more likely, CORRECTION 2 ~ from whence the hell did i come?
The balloons represent his burdens in life

Definitely Hopsin.
Alone With Me
Cool - thanks! I'll add that to the list :-)
technically the journey begins with The Search...in that song he says the Balloons are his burdens. Everyone carries them around.
The journey begins with Mansion, When has it ever started with The Search?
Need to react to NF's The Search....he refers to the balloons as his burdens in that track.
Thanks for letting me know :-)

I think I've got the journey list all lined up; a few others have posted it already (often with copious notes!)
Ill mind of Hopsin next 100% have to

You guys should listen to his song Nate. It’s pretty deep

I'll mind of Hopsin 7
the last 30 seconds of music did what? your audio cut.

Hahaha! I love a good grammar breakdown.
i'm not sure you are prepared for Hopsin lol. He's incredible, but a lot of language lol
Thanks for the heads up :-) I actually don't mind the language. I appreciate it when artists avoid it, but I'm not overly turned off by it either.
Loved the reaction... If you're going to do Hopsin definitely do Ill mind of Hopsin 7... Trust me
Thank you for letting me know!
