Hi! The Retro 1996 Nuptse uses 700-fill goose down, while the Saikuru is insulated with synthetic Heatseeker™ Eco. The Nuptse is ideal for cold, dry conditions due to its warm, puffy design, but its insulation may not be as effective when wet. On the other hand, the Saikuru is more versatile, handling mixed weather well with its modern style and insulation that still works in damp conditions. Both are great options, depending on the warmth and style you're looking for!
Nice video but I see people around the world pronouncing it wrong. Nuptse( noop-tse) is a Tibetan word, meaning “West” inspired from another famous mountain in the West of Mount Everest.
How tall are you and what size did you pick up ? I'm 5,11 (180cm) and i see people being 6 (182cm) getting size M cause it fits better, L looks very large like baggy
We have The North Face's sizing details for Men's Jackets here in this link: www.thenorthface.com/en-us/mens/mens-jackets-and-vests/mens-insulated-and-down-c300771/mens-1996-retro-nuptse-jacket-pNF0A3C8D#size-charts Click on Size and Fit Guide
i highly suggest you to go into a north face store and try it there thats hwat I did. the models on the north face site all ware size M and are between 180-190cm tall. I am 179cm tall and tried the M and its way to snug, no space for a hoodie underneath and i am not even overweight I am a litte muscular. So i decided to go with L even tho its much too baggy for my taste but still better than M.
Hello, the jacket's insulation affects its appearance, with more insulating materials giving it a puffier look than less insulated jackets. Additionally, the jacket's quilting style also plays a role in its puffiness. The North Face claims that their warmest jacket is the Summit Series® outerwear, which contains 800-fill down (www.thenorthface.co.uk/help/faq/which-the-north-face-jacket-should-i-choose-for-warmth.html). This type of down fill is one of the best quality commercially available. Hope this helps. Cheers!
I like cool retro things of all sorts. But the old school Nupste.....no, just no (at least for me). I don't care if it's made with fishing nets and traceable down.
Awesome review man!
Would it be possible to do a video showing the jacket under different types of weather, to see how well it holds up?
Good idea!
Does the color look different IRL? Because in some websites it looks like it is purple but in the video it seems more blue
It’s very blue
What are the differences between the North Face Retro 1996 Nuptse and the North Face Saikuru? Thanks

Great review! Im sold! What colour did you wear in the vid? I cant seem to find it
just blue pretty sure they’re sold out almost everywhere
Does anyone know why they took off the shine from the Nuptse jacket? They look pretty bland nowadays.
Not sure tbh... I think they must have thought that's what people wanted?
I remember the 1996 when I was in-school, and I didn't have to think twice to pick one up, I got the pride black/white one which is kind of neat.
Where is it now?
Is it shady blue or summit navy?
Hello, this is the Lapis Blue colour. Cheers!

What brand are your frames please?
These are Jacques Marie Mage’s Dealan.
why do some of these look puffier than others? also what do you think is the puffiest jacket?
