I am verklempt.....for many years, I asked any Yiddish speaker I could find if they knew the word "shpacheering". My Dad would use this world for taking a leisurely drive......which he loved to do and I inherited from him. No one knew the word....perhaps because I was mispronouncing it....here they they say, "shpatzeering". Hearing this word confirmed my memories and brought me a lot of joy.
Love this music especially the Ladino part, my ancestors spoked this language as they were Sephardic Jews from Spain. I understand pretty much. I bought a Ladino dictionary. This music brings joy and sadnes to my soul.

On that dreidel song. When my son was nine years, he made up a verse. I have a little dreidel. I made it out of paint. And when I went to spin it, my mama she did faint. This from a nine year old. We didn't let him near any paint for a long time just in case he actually thought he could do so.
smiling, dancing, zinging and shpringing, laughing out loud, what an amazing language and amazing music, fabulous singers, musicians, now welling with tears thinking of my awesome Grandparents ( Bubbies and Zaidies) who would dance away the days and nights, holidays and everyday just glad to be alive, with the Yiddish language always enthralling us Kinder.
Me as well ... I'm ending chanaka with this music and love joy and so much pride .. I'm sharing with my mom and kids and grand kids .. love to allll the talent ... Ending it well
Felicitaciones a los músicos y cantantes d este grupo son excepcionales. Bueno es gozarse cuando cantas y estar acordé con las notas que cantas. El auditorio se unirá lo disfrutará también. Pocos cómo estos grupos. Es que n0 se ven. Dios los bendiga . Shalom !

During time of spring, my father told me - next year in Jerusalem. I was littel dissapointed as kid while we never whent to the holy land. First later on i understood that our family had jewish blood.

Oh, please there are young one's listening and viewing this wonderful Yiddish singers and songs celebrating Chanukah, do we really need your sad comments and lack of manners showing so little respect for the young to enjoy their childhoods.
Totally inappropriate for Jewish singers to mix Christian music into a Jewish concert where Jews come expecting to hear our music. There are plenty of Christian artists to sing Christmas songs. But the Jewish part of this concert is beautiful.

In German, there is the word "spazieren" (pronounced: shpatzeeren) which means "to stroll" in English.
From the German, spazieren gehen.

Just wanted to point out that Ocho Kandelikas is by Flory Jagoda, so not "traditional" --it's Sephardi, but the authorship is known!
May her memory be for a blessing ז"ל
There were Zissels (Zisl) in Lita pre 1940. Love that lively musical collaboration.
