DIY Knotless Goddess Braids | Using Human & Synthetic Hair | Niara Alexis

  • I’ve been wanting to try goddess braids for a while now. I have a little vacay coming up and I wanted to give the style a try because this is the perfect beachy carefree look I wanted. Knotless braids in general take a decent amount of time (about a day or so when DIY) so I knew I would need some extra time to get the technique of adding in additional hair. For my knotless goddess braids I opted for using human hair for the pieces coming out instead of all synthetic. Synthetic hair knots & tangles really fast & is not ideal for getting wet. I will still need to do some up keep on this hair but not as much as I would need for synthetic hair. The braids themselves are all done with synthetic hair. See links to products I used below.

    I was following two tutorials, this one and another one. So I’ll just like copy and paste what I said for both videos cause they were both super helpful! Ok I just tried These and for background ive never done any braids on my hair like ever so this was really my first time. I was able to do it following her tutorial but I did struggle feeding in the hair, but it took me about 5 minutes to pick it up. Make sure you get something to separate your hair (the one you are braiding) from the rest of the hair. And also don’t expect perfection for your first time guys but otherwise I feel this is easier to do than box braids and even when I pulled on it (to check if it stayed) it was STUCK like it stayed so I’d recommend this!!

    Hi!! Love your braids! I’m trying to build up enough courage to do mine myself🤣 2 questions, how did you cut your human hair? And about how many pieces of human hair did you add to each braid?

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I just cute the hair off the tracks. A flat surface will help. & I didn’t l use the same amount of hair per braid so it wouldn’t be so uniform. Max 5 or 6 pieces but some braids only had 1 piece. Depends on how you want it to look ❤️

      Hi! When I used my phone to edit I would first film with my phone (horizontal) then I used either iMovie or InShot on my phone to edit. Once I was done I just saved & uploaded to TH-cam on my phone. Hope that helps!

    Question, being that you used the synthetic hair for the braid, did you have to dip in hot water?

    • @NiaraAlexis

      Yes I dipped my braids to seal them

    • @kayb9605

      Ok perfect thought it would mess the curly human hair

    How did you maintain the curly parts please x

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don’t do anything to them. Sometimes they get knotted together & I just pull them apart but that’s it. Human hair ages much better than synthetic.

    I get the ''start in rhe front'' advice, but honestly for a Style like that, me having zero pro braider skill, you can bet most of the first braids are gonna be total mess until, in the process, i level up and unlock correct skills to tackle the ret of my head sooooo...

    How did the human hair hold up?

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was fine. It did shed but it was manageable & didn’t get super tangled

  • @jennalud4748
    @jennalud4748 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does this tangles?

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me not that much. It is free hanging hair so it is going to tangle some but it was pretty easy to separate if needed & definitely better than using synthetic hair
