The transformation looking so amazing , so much effort went into designing this kit. I’m currently working on fully painting this kit guess I wouldn’t be able to play around the transformation cause it scratches the paint, plan to just leave it in its signature pose. Maybe i should buy another robot spirit version of this just to play around. Nice review as always !
Amazing video! Even though this is a 1.5 version of Sentinel Gundam (not even 2.0; reuse parts from 1.0 version and Deep Striker, lol), I really love the way it looks, and your video are probably the most detail version available on TH-cam. it's amazing how detail painting, decals, penal lines and top coat can make an unpainted kit looks amazing.
It's seems Bandai improved the ABS used in this kit. I built the original MG kit long time before. the ABS was a pain in the ass. It was brittle and hard to polish back then. After seeing your youtube, I am planning to build one again. Hopefully bandai will make an RG EX-S in the future.
Thanks for the vid! I have this beast still in the box... Thanks to you, I now have an idea of what's up ahead. I'll finish my Xeku Ein (the HGUC one...) then get to work on this mastodont! :)
i know this is old but just a slight nitpick the sinanju waist joint issue was due to ABS plastic and the waist peg being molded on top of a thin plastic plate on top which due to strong friction from ABS connecting to another ABS surface lead to the flaw in its structural integrity. Polystyrene frame was used to mostly solve this issue alone. Just wanted to point that out Otherwise, love playing ur build vids while building btw
Bought this the second I could, while only a few upgraded tweeks thanks to the deep striker, it's a great kit, Bitg, transformable and lots of weapons., Comes with a stand. And looks great decaled and panel lines and can be built as the s or ex-s
I agree. I always hate hearing similar ear grating dubstep music in every build video including PC desktop builds and model kit builds. It makes me want to stop watching the video all together.
The amount of effort and quality of this vid is astonishing Congratulations for making some of the most detailed, fully fledged and informative videos avaliable on yt about gunpla Already asked it but seeing again the build I'm curious if you top coated every piece individually or did you ensambled some units and then top coated them?
Can't believe I missed this vid from you! I really dig the presentation you did on the build process and the kit overall. What I wanna know most is how you painted the clear parts on the Beam Smartgun, it looks sick!
I was just about to comment on the FAZZ. I have been wanting to build one for ages but none of the previous variants looked good enough.. this one though....need it.
I love this kit, the only thing I don't like about it is that I don't have it! Lol. Adding that extra cheap stand to the base was a good tip! I appreciate you sharing that. I wish I can get one soon so I can enjoy this in person too. Cheers!
Thank you and this is an amazing work. One thing i would change about the video is the music. 53 mins is too long to play the same kind of music (if it is not at all the same one). I would do a more ASMR type as it is relaxing but should you choose to add a music track, make sure it is faint, not similar sounding and not overwhelming the video. Hearing those things slide and click and snap is a wonderful addition for the viewers as they cannot interact with the gunpla themselves.
Glad to see the transformation without a catastrophe occurring lol. I tried building this unit like 8 or 10 years ago when I first started with Gunpla, to date its the only unit that I had break on me 😢.
@@citrusjuicebox The detail you mean is like those panel lining? why i ask because as for now, i'm just collecting gundam kit, without spray paint it. spray paint will need to be later time in the future.

This is why i wish people would stop buying knockoff brands, bandai is always pushing the engineering of these fucking snap fit model kits while knockoffs only need to copy the molds. Katoki Hajime designed the mechanisms for this back in the late 80's and the first version of this kit (with the same mechanism) came out in 2002. Pretty mind-blowing!
Bandai seems really opposed to reprint large box MGs for some reason, aside from Sazabi Ver.Ka. The O, Deep Striker, FAZZ Ver.Ka, etc. are all in the same situation.
Do the rest of the "old" parts mean they came from unsold Ex-S from the 2000's or recently made just using the same mold? I want one but I keep reading old gunpla plastic are brittle, great vid btw.
All runners in each kit are printed at the same time. As for this kit, I believe there is a reprint due to arrive some time this month. You can read the print date on the runner by inspecting the back of the name plaque on each runner: The smaller wheel indicates digit year, the larger wheel indicates month (X, Y, Z are 10, 11, 12), and the number of triangle marks decades since decade of original release. Old kits tend to be more brittle because time allows the effects of poor storage to accumulate. If a kit has been stored in a cool, dark, dry place, its plastic condition will not deteriorate much at all.
For this one, it was just my knife and sanding block, but I recently started using glass buffers, and the finish is cleaner: th-cam.com/video/htNM2qB6opM/w-d-xo.html

I can't speak for everyone, but, for me, I enjoy the process of putting something together way more than just fact of having something. Impermanence doesn't really bother me. For most kits I've built, I wouldn't mind building them again. On the other hand, gunpla isn't really as impermanent as you say it is. So satisfying to watch despite the fact that it's nearly an hour long, you really did the justice for this kit :D

Such an awesome kit.
I wish I could stomach such a huge and long build after Sazabi Ver.Ka took me forever to finish.

Nice clean build! Did you use a marker or a brush with acrylic on the gold and silver accent?
Yes, I used Marvy Decocolor pens.
Wow. How'd you paint the piping on the smart beam gun?
Welp, I now want three of these, two deep strikers (so I can have a deep striker colour s gundam) and a zeta plus c1 which will be expensive
How did you paint some details with gold and silver? Is gundam marker enough?
Yup, Gundam Marker is what I used.

Treat the ABS firmly, but gently. They're very strong parts, but easy break if they move in the wrong direction.
Thanks for the tips..... 👍🏻
The Most replayed section of the video had me on the edge thinking something would break
Just picked up this kit today!
Were screws common in older MG kits?
Quite common up until about 2005
hey citrus do you use gundam markers for panel lining? or you use panel line wash? if so do you coat it first with gloss before panel line washing it?
Yes, no, and no.
Have not build mine but I got all the old sentinel gunpla.
I may be in the minority but I dig the S Gundam over the EX/S. If I ever buy this I'll probably build the entire smart rifle out and give it to the S.
How did you manage to make the Ex-S Gundam standing????????
Very carefully. (It's actually fairly stable once you line up the feet just right.)
Is it possible to keep the EXS legs but everything else is S and still transform it into flight mode
Yes, but the knees won't fold up as neatly
