The one in the tree looked at me and then looked back at the truck. Put a foreign dolphin (different dialect) in a tank with local dolphins and see how the local dolphins attempt to communicate with the new, foreign dolphin. See how they attempt to communicate and then use their methods on them?
Dolphins have been using the telecommunications satellites to hook up with other dolphin tribes around the world for decades. Turns out they not only can hack satellites, but they all have Universal Translator software wet-wired into their enormous brains. Only the French dolphins refuse to use it... which is why they are shunned by other dolphins...
Ya it's me again... I also want to recall something I remember hearing a few years back... from somewhere... But as best as I can remember, they were researching dolphins at one time, basically a diver was in the water with the dolphins, but doing his best to be subtle and not alter the dolphins interactions while recording their clicks and whistles, then later he would go back down, lay on the ocean floor to be subtle, and play back the recording, and observe the dolphins reactions to the sounds. At one point in the playback, several dolphins suddenly stopped what they were doing, turned and looked at the diver, swam to him, and then carefully maneuvered themselves to lay on the ocean floor like him. This was such an interesting reaction that they snipped that soundclip that caused such a reaction, and the diver jumped back in, this time not taking the time to lay down, he was standing on the ocean floor. He played the soundclip, and the other dolphins came over and began to maneuver themselves until they were standing on their tails, on the ocean floor, as much like the diver as they could manage. As I said this is from memory from a few years ago but hopefully I got the basic facts correct, but it seemed to be a big breakthrough as it seemed that they had found the dolphin phrase for "hey can you do this?" or "copy me"

::Sigh:: If only I had the same interest in learning when I was in school as I do now, I wouldn't have made the mistakes I made had I been more interested.
I'm in the same boat. Even when I went to school I wasn't really at school - I mean, on the premises sure but the actual learning and attending class part was amiss. I'm only 27 and still found myself saying "oh it's too late now." After getting some well needed perspective, I realized I have plenty of time to move into a career. Honestly, I'm glad I waited because I'm still not 100% sure about what I wanna be when I grow up - how you're supposed to know at 18 is beyond me. I recently did a refresher on highschool biology, chemistry, and physics so that I'd have better fundamentals moving into college and then possibly university. If you're feeling like its too late just know that it isn't, there's always the opportunity to learn something new. Sure, it's going to take a lot of effort, more so than when you're young, but it's definitely do-able. I had a gentleman in my class that I ended up gaining a ton of respect for. He was a paramedic for 34 years and decided to go back to school to become a civil engineer. It's never too late.
@@miguelsuarez-solis5027 I mean maybe, it's really hard to say. At least for me I find myself fascinated in plenty of things that were taught in school when I was younger. I really can't explain why over the last 7 years I've been fascinated by everything but wasn't when I was young.

Neil, he would be a great guest who used to share your channel...
The real sign of intelligence is that mature realization.
It was an opportunity delayed, not lost!
I am 45 and still learning new things really just for the sake of keeping my brain active.
You did. You just weren't being taught things you were interested in
@@miguelsuarez-solis5027 I mean maybe, it's really hard to say. At least for me I find myself fascinated in plenty of things that were taught in school when I was younger. I really can't explain why over the last 7 years I've been fascinated by everything but wasn't when I was young.
I remerber Peter Gabriel narratives with its song ''ANIMAL NATION'' was about that project theme !
Love you PETER !!!!!!!!!!
That Cardi B joke was underrated asf! IM DEAD
Cardi BEE! 😄🤣😄
😂😂
Love how Diana and Neil have to clarify which Arrival movie she's referring to. He not only got the reference, he had to clarify which one
The day we succeed in actual communication with animals is the very day we get belittled on an epic level regarding our excessive numbers and resulting damage to the planet.
We may not want to know what the animals are saying about us.
We might want our dogs to remain dogs if that makes sense. lol
I love cosmic queries! Thanks Dr.Tyson ⚡️
Huge fan of StarTalk but was hard to watch the lady talking enthusiastically about her career being interrupted for the same joke every 5 mins. You guys got to read your hosts, make them comfy.. but great video as always 👍
Great episode, thank you very much.
I was here at light speed. Ask my broken finger
Hey broken finger did you get here at light speed
😂😂
Finger!!! Hey, finger!!!
I stuck my hand through an event horizon to see what would happen. Don't bother asking.
@@taijusatomi-defoe42yes lol 3 light years later. My finger was far away
This video is incredible, how could anybody give it a thumbs down
And there was me thinking and hoping that this was going to be all about “ How we are trying to communicate with Aliens 👽 “
😐
it is still interesting. Understanding comunication with animals may help us somehow to understand how to tell a joke to a alien.
An understanding of what may constitute communication different from humans can be useful. It's kept me from being bitten on more than one occasion.
Maybe it was 🙂

This episode could progress literally into a star talk.
