Its been 3 years since i started prep and left my average job for it,my father retired in 2020. Then started prep while staying at home and then phone addiction started from 2nd wave lockdown. And still haven't covered Laxmikant for once, it started from prep related scrolling to mindless scrolling and gaming, tried all possible methods to overcome it but I am now addicted with short attention span(took 1 month to cover Indian constitution at work, merely 2 days enough to complete). Now I actually understand what alcohol and other addict go through. Now I am 29 with gap in my career, still at beginner level with 2 attempts left 2024,25(and we know minimum 1.5 years of study req. even after that clearing exam is a different game) and have appeared once only(can't appear 32 age attempt bcz of my DOB- upsc exclude people born before august). Many may laugh reading this, I stand and see me getting Destroyed but I hope it will help and make few aware how bad can phone addiction and procrastination can go and never let it grow over you. All the best to aspirants.

    Main points:
Changing Environment for Social Media Reduction:
    - Identify patterns and create barriers.
    - Delete apps, use browser, turn off notifications.
    - Use apps like Forest for focus.
    - Set boundaries and limit night phone usage.

Sir, I did the things mentioned in the video and added a bit more task from my side. Literally completed the things I would have procrastinated for months in matter of 4 to 5 hours. Recently we had internal exams so my momentum was set. This video is a catalyst. Deleted my apps and did not touch TH-cam until now. I kind of feel guilty now even to use any other distracting app or ways. I just want to read everything. Thank u so much. The fact about using phone at night after studies was actually the hidden cause of my insomnia. Since last week, I feel sleepy like a drunk person sharp at 9 30 pm and sleep. No more sleeplessness at night and guilt in the morning for wasting my time on screen. Thank u sir.

My mom is in the education sector and she’s starting to observe massive issues in students’ behaviour because they are not even able to focus on 25 minute lectures,as the periods in school were changed from 50 minutes to 25 minutes because the students were unable to focus…it is BaD.

even i advised a lot of people jub bhi siucidee ka thought aaye por* dekh lenna uppar ka sara tannav necche aa jayega aur phir tum marne ki nhi maaarne ki sochoge . now I regret it
since then I tried too hard and so many times but couldn't get rid of it.. whenever I get hold of Little privacy all I think about is whacking my meat 💦.. now I don't even enjoy it I just do it for the sake of doing to get rid of the urge so i don't more time thinkin about it

This video was a true reflection of what we are doing wrong without recognising the very fact . I felt it personally as well that when i use social media/ youtube without any purpose , i feel guilty of using it & wasting my time . And when i switch off the phone & study hard , meeting targets - i feel more productive. So let's begin the journey from being guilty to being productive. No dopemine shots required any longer .

A drop year JEE Aspirant here. I realised this happening to me a few months ago and slowing started to cut off Instagram and Snapchat first and then TH-cam shorts. What people don't realise is that despite having xxxx amount of followers or friends a lot of these people don't even care about you. At the end when I did completely stop using my social media accounts I realised I had only 3 people other than my family who cared about my wellbeing. Plus also a lot of my 'friends' who also took a drop year weren't taking it seriously and honestly this entire thing forced me to surround myself with better people who had same goals as me. Been using these dopamine detox tips since the last 3-4 months and my attention span has increased so much and short form content irritates me atp 😂 SO for all the people who are trying to cure this addiction, keep going and don't lose hope!!

But I was an addict during COVID 2020 times when I was in college but since 2022 I have achieved this ‘do the heavy task and then reward your brain’ stage. I hope people benefit from this. ALSO a tip for anyone struggling try to bore yourself if you can’t study but don’t pick up your phone.

This video must be very helpful to almost everyone who are struggling with concentrating well on the task in hand. I’m saying so because this video gave me flashbacks of a few podcasts by Andrew Huberman & Lex Fridman. Also, I’m sorry but I have to watch another video on TH-cam after this- Ted Talk because I have listed it on my TH-cam watchlist for today. But, after that I’m definitely going to read a book.

I hope we all should do such things. Training our minds is the only way to survive in this peculiar modern world of absurdity. Human brain, cognitive function are very important for our species. I thank people like you who use this platform in the best possible way selling the most authentic product. More power to you

This video was awesome.into the first 5-7 minutes video of the video,i realised you are trying to give a reward for people watching the video. As I have read in the book atomic habits "what is immediately rewarded is repeated and what is immediately punished is avoided".
This method u used make me realise the power of rewards.
    Thankyou so much.

    Thank you sir!
It's simple operant conditioning. Behaviour is repeated coz of reinforcement . Currently, most of us use phones just coz it helps us to escape d examination ANXIETY n this relief is reinforcing our phone addiction. But this defence mechanism is just quick fix solution
Solution - 1) punishment - operant conditioning is based on rewards n punishments. So whenever you pick up ur phone know d consequences - wastage of time ,etc. It would simply decrease ur phone usage time
    2) anxiety - watch shivin sir's video on anxiety ,it's given there
Remainder - be kind to urself during upsc cse prep 🌻

Last few years I’m trying to quit this phone addiction, but because of inconsistency I have failed many times. But turning off notifications is really tricky here, as in this phase it actually had an reverse effect as i used to open my phone severally time to see if there is any message or not. Just a thing i wanted to share. I hope you get rid of your phone addiction

Just saw the video and let me truly share that I am, from last one week practicing this, opened my youtube for an hour only on Sundays and all the social media apps are deleted. I have never ever felt this productive. I already completed so many things which used to be due for months. I hope people start doing it because it's just so needed.
