What a great comeback! One that will go down in history in college football. Connor Shaw is a diamond in the ruff. What a winner the guy is! SC's gonna miss this guy!
I remember this game watching it with my girlfriend and bunch of friends of ours I was getting hassled all night cause some were Clemson fans and some were Missouri fans and when this happened I screamed so loud and I was crying! Such a great game and a great comeback!
I think Missouri has a great team and their game plan on O and D was perfect. What they didn't have was a Connor Shaw. A guy with flu symptoms that threw up before the game, an injured knee, but with a penchant for winning. He kind of willed his way to victory and his team mates responded. He'll go down in history as one of the greatest Gamecocks. Tenacious and NEVER willing to give up. And our mascot is based on Francis Marion and the fact the British called him as tenacious as a gamecock in the ring. Thanks Connor for being a Gamecock.
I am from sc and I thought that the gamecock is what the brits called Thomas Sumter. The other revolutionary war hero who is not as well known as Francis Marion who is the swamp fox. I am a gamecock diehard but the story is as I heard it is that francis marion was a swamp fox and the devil himself couldn't find him but Thomas Sumter was a Gamecock who showed off and could be found whenever. Est. 1801 South Carolina is the oldest Carolina "college" ever period... read a history book about it but that's not my point to Thomas Hudson. Just telling the story that I know.
jonnyblaze2006 Also Columbia is in "Sumter" County SC. Im from myrtle beach. In "Horry" County. Peter Horry who was one of Francis Marions right hand men
Even though the 'cocks blew my Tide up during their last meeting, I've got a soft spot for them. And on top of that, I'm not sold at all on Missouri. I felt like they took advantage of an injury-riddled SEC East that made a decent team look a lot better than they were. I really wanted them to lose. When the 4th quarter rolled around for SC, it was one of the best comebacks of the year. Connor Shaw is as clutch as they come, and had so many great moments in this win (4th and goal in OT anyone?). Hope 'Bama and SC get to meet in the SECCG next year.
Don't expect too many more dream seasons for your Tigers like 2013. Once Georgia and Florida get back to normal strength, Mizzou will be another middle of the pack team in the East. You'll still have to deal with SC, A&M and whomever rotates in from the West. Just don't want your hopes too high.
First of all, everybody whooped Florida. You beat a UGA team without Todd Gurley and a lot of starters out. You know who else beat UGA? Vanderbilt. And you definitely didn't whoop a crappy TA&M team, you barely scraped by them. With an INJURED Johnny Football. The SEC championship game showed that Mizzou had a great offense, but their defense was garbage. It's funny that a 12-2 season is a dream season for your Tigers. An 11-2 year is considered a down year for 'Bama. I definitely look forward to the Tide, and everyone else, shitting on your team just like they did in 2012. Again, so glad you lost.
John Barkley My response must have really bothered you to reply twice. I'm all for more competition within the conference, but like I said in my original post, I think Missouri has yet to prove themselves in the SEC. Don't forget that this is only their second year in the conference, and the rest of their division was in the wastebasket most of the season, aside from SC (which they lost to.) I didn't say anything about their history or past accomplishments, since they earned all of that. But when Mizzou can show some consistency in the SEC when the rest of the East is healthy, then I'll give them a fair shot. Do you think your boys can do it all again in 2014?
UGA barely escaped Tennessee, as well. Yes, I'd call that a down year considering they had 10+ win season the past 3 years with two SEC Championship game appearances. I don't have any doubt about Texas A&M, considering their first season in the SEC and their recruiting classes the past two years. They still have to show consistency year in and year out in the SEC, which is my most important point out of all of this. Missouri is no different.
John Barkley Yes, it was a down year. 8 wins is a very down year in the SEC. Our 11-2 record for the year is appalling. SEC teams don't strive to place or show. This conference is all or nothing...Go Big or Go Home. It always has been, and always will be. I will grant you that Mizzou has had a good team. Same with A&M...but before you will hear any regulars from the SEC brag about them being a powerhouse team, they have to prove it. 5, 10, 15 years down the road, if Mizzou has racked up a couple of NCG's...even if they don't win them, but just play in the big game, people might say "Holy Shit! Mizzou is the real deal!" 2 or 3 back to back to back division trophies, and I can almost guarantee it, but don't expect everyone to gasp and look on in awe, just because the new kids had a *pretty decent* couple of years.
What is it about that particular end zone? First it was the 5th Down in 1990, the Flea Kicker in 1997, and now this. What other plays of infamy have occurred there? It's been nearly a decade since this, the greatest season ever for Gamecocks football. Here's hoping Shane Beamer can return the team to this level. Go Cocks!! c/o 2001.
Hard to believe it's been nearly a decade since this. 2013 was my first season as a fan of football (tennessee is my team, but I have much love for South Carolina)
Props to mizzou, in all honesty I thought we were gonna totally blow this game until around the 3rd quarter. Hope all goes well for mizzou but GO COCKS!
now somebody here wants to blame mizzou for taking advantage of a injury-riddled SEC East Com'on injury! or not florida, and georgia recruit 4-5 stars there backups should be a lot better than a mizzou team who recruit mostly 3 stars as you can see its not all about the rates mizzou had there backup QB in still took care both teams an nearly beat SC blame it on injuries if you want This is not ncaa football 13 on playstation3 that you can go back in replay the game this is the real deal buddy!! see you this fall..
Mizzou still has a lot to prove in the SEC, Im still not sold on them. TA&M has my respect, they beat a #1, healthy, very good, defensive, Bama and only lost 2 games to #6 ranked LSU and a Florida team that finished in the top 10 in 2012. Sure this past season was a big letdown for them but every game they lost was actually very close. Mizzou has done nothing, they took advantage of a very injured SEC east and when they actually played a healthy SEC powerhouse (SCAR, Auburn) they lost. in 2012 they went 5-7, sure they were also injured but Georgia was also injured this past season and still managed to win 8 games, and should've beaten Auburn the SEC champ. If everyone in the East is healthy in 2014 and they can actually keep up with the East powerhouses (UGA, SCAR, UF) then they will have my respect. Until then, they are just another stepping stone.
You serious? Just cause they won one good game? A&M is nothing but a bunch of underachievers, you will see that in time. I promise you will eat your words. You're respecting the wrong team. You don't have to give mizzou respect just yet but respecting the Ags over us is a joke. We've pounded their asses for a decade. They had the best QB in college football history and still didn't go to Atlanta.
Bud Fudlacker They didn't have "one" good game? they actually had plenty of great games along with 2 winning seasons in 2 years so far. Best QB in college football history? not by a long shot. Manziel is good and but nowhere near the best in history. Mizzou is not a bad team but they surely haven't had the success A&M has had these first 2 seasons in the SEC. Sure, they went to Atlanta but lets be honest here, if everyone in the East was healthy in 2013 the SECCG would've been a different game. We will see in the fall though.
mizzou won't be back in that game for a while I admit but now that Manziel is gone I promise you will see A&M's true colors. Heck they've already lost 9 players from that so called top recruiting class. They will get thumped in the SEC west most years. As for mizzou they needed the east because they wouldnt compete in the west, however they will achieve more than A&M in the long run.
Bud Fudlacker I will admit that Mizzou was the surprise team this past season along with Auburn. They were much better than people thought they would be. I myself didn't think they'd win 5 games. Although, they have lost too much talent to be a Title contender, I predict them going 9-4 with losses to UGA, SCAR, UF, a trap game vs UCF and 3rd in the East standings behind UGA and SCAR.
@@WeShowYou I wouldnt worry about what we say there bud. Only thing you can say is "Loss" for the last 3 years. Shut that mouth and relish in the dumpster fire that is MissWho football. Matty was a coke head, and Pinkel is a joke lmfao
If we had even a lick of defense we would be pretty good. We might as well pick fans in the middle of the game to go out on the field for 1 defensive series
What a great comeback! One that will go down in history in college football. Connor Shaw is a diamond in the ruff. What a winner the guy is! SC's gonna miss this guy!
The Legend of Connor Shaw will forever live in this game "The Shaw-Shank Redemption"
I remember this game watching it with my girlfriend and bunch of friends of ours I was getting hassled all night cause some were Clemson fans and some were Missouri fans and when this happened I screamed so loud and I was crying! Such a great game and a great comeback!
Connor Shaw looks so calm and relaxed the whole time playing.
