The fabric I use is Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Fabric. It is very good quality neat even weave (plain weave) cotton fabric with a variety of colors. The price range is around $5 ~ $7 per yard (the cheapest, safe, and good website as far as I know, I ordered my fabrics from this website).

Omg thank you again! I’ve been experimenting with different types of fabrics and the cotton linen blend is what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been using duck canvas fabric and it’s been pretty good so far :)

Thank you for sharing. It is very hard to find information on what fabric to use in hand embroidery. There is al kinds of stitching tutorials and what threads to use but not for what fabric is best. I guess it's assumed everyone knows this.

You can start with Kona Cotton Fabric. You can get it from Amazon if you just need a little (like around 1 or 2 yards). If you gonna get more than that, go get it on www.fabric.com.

Yupe! All you need as a beginner is embroidery hoop, embroidery needle set, floss (I use DMC), thearder, scissors and cotton fabric.
