He didn't take him seriously until he launched his full out attack at the end, and only then did Akaza go into a serious attack (annihilation type) And that ended up punching right through Rengoku's body. Akaza REALLY wants to find someone to train with.
I love demon slayer…I hate/love demon slayer but more love…I’m 37 years old and I’ve seen this movie about 5 times and EVERY time, without fail, I shed tears. Demon slayer is a work of art to pass these emotions on. Rengoku will forever be #1 hashirama for me. A true hero.
You may or may not know already but Akaza ripped his own arms off. Inosuke didn't even reach Akaza, but from the angle and pacing, it did seem like Inosuke cut Akaza's arms off but it's not the case (luckily).

where did you watch this? a lot of subtitles were totally wrong, and kind of kill the experience imo. there are powerful things said that were completely missed in this sub version.

(who was merely trying to turn him and didn’t use any of his best techniques) Comparing that to others who lasted longer against more powerful opponents is fairly simple. I say mid tier because I can only comfortably put him above Mitsuri, Tengen and Shinobu. Scaling really isn’t difficult.
@AzulApe head canon. Comparing a marked Hashira vs non marked Hashira is just outright ridiculous. That's like comparing SSJ4 Vegeta to SSJ2 Goku and calling Vegeta stronger. The mark is an enormous buff, almost op. We see that when Muichiro gets clapped by Gyokko until he ends up awakening his mark. The only reason Tengen and Rengoku didn't awaken their marks was because Tanjiro didn't awaken his at the time to resonate with them, while Shinobu didn't awaken hers due to not participating in the Hashira Training. Comparing apples to oranges.
