- Considering a clawfoot tub shower kit? There are numerous companies that offer several options in many finishes. Before you make your decision do some due diligence because the quality of the product varies across the board.
Most if not all of the kits I've installed are imported products not made in the good old U.S.A. They look really good but fall short on longevity, especially if you are an aggressive shower taker. The kit featured in this video is one of the better-quality units I've installed (link in the description below).
They require patience, expertise, and quite a bit of time to install and may not necessarily be suited for the D.I.Yer. This particular install took approximately six solid hours most of which was the installation of the actual faucet, followed by the shower ring. Hope you learn something before attempting this job yourself.
Regards, & Happy Plumbing!

Wow did you bring back memories. My grandparents, who lived in an apartment on New Utrecht Avenue, had a cast iron claw foot tub and a pull-chain toilet. In the summertime, the tank would sweat (no air conditioning) and drip on your head as you sat on the pot! Enjoyed the video,as always
A lot of tubs like that in Brooklyn I did a few . IT DOES TAKE TIME
My tub and shower is exactly the same 😊
Hey Bob, good seeing you again, nice job! 👍👍. Looks like they had or have a small leak to the ceiling above the tub, 4:50
The roof!
them stairs, take note the cost to go up and down them...tanks for sharing
Thanks for the warning, and the good info.
Any time! Thanks for the visit! Bob.
I get a feeling the next video will be you replacing the silver drain trim with bright brass trim...
Not at all!
Would be nice to see details of your work
Bob. I was so excited to watch this video until you skipped right over the part that I so badly needed. :( I installed the faucet - that was pretty straight forward. but HOWWWWW do you install the **un threaded** shower riser rod??? I installed with the rubber cone thingy and the nut, and it still rockets off under the water pressure!!! I even did it twice just to be sure I'd tightened it down well
Been a while since I did this job, send me a couple of photos of exactly what your issue is. info@robertsessaplumbing.com
I liked that bathroom
Thank you
My Pleasure! Thank you for checking out the video! Bob,
How do you fix the handles on these if it won’t stay on? I think I’m missing a screw
Those handle screw in!
What is the white piece you put around the shower head?
That is a porcelain piece that was part of the shower head. I didn't add it.
Where, I can find a brass diverter like that one? I'm doing this on my tub.the one, I bought isn't nearly as nice.
Check out this site, I believe this is where the customer purchased the equipment.

Hi Bob, on the hot and cold water stub out's with that decorative cone cover it looks like there was no way to back up those lines when you unscrewed and installed the new values, did you have any issues with that?
Believe it or not, I used a 6" offset pipe wrench and they came right off. I was concerned they were nipples and the nipples would come off with the valves. I got lucky that it was copper w/males adapters.
Is this guy a mafia plumber he keeps wacking things up
My hot water isn’t hot, is there a cap I need to remove or adjust? I took hot water handle off and there wasn’t anything there. Thanks in advance for help.
In the entire house or just in one fixture??
Is that a fiberglass claw foot tub. That’s what it looks like. I would think that wouldn’t be very sturdy.
This was a cast iron tub, I wouldn't have did this job on a fiberglass tub.
@@BobsPlumbingVideos where did you find that beautiful brass fixture?
@@JT-un7dc i bought mine on Wayfair...
I will tell you why I don’t like this video. Maybe I miss the point, but you did not instruct how to install the shower faucet to the tub you talked about the putty on the drain, but you did not talk about the putty that is used for the faucet connection to the tub … that’s important
How is back is hooked up to the supply lines
Go to 2:28 of the video, Those were existing ridgid 20" chrome basin supply lines which I re-used.
Could you please share where you got these parts from?
The customer supplied them?
How much does this installation cost?
As I recall $1,600 plus sales tax.
Is whacked ‘em up a technical term? 😂
It's a "Brooklyn Mob" term...LOL!😂
Very good...information
Thanks...👍
👍🤙🤘
It’s a fiberglass tub. There’s nothing vintage about that. Filthy people. That bathroom is a horror show. Hope you charged enough… .
That is a cast iron tub!
