      How these women can love these monsters is beyond me. They are as disgusting as the men they marry and I only hope Kaplar died in agony haunted by his murders. Watch the Scarlet and the Black...it is a brilliant film. It shows there was at least one Catholic priest willing to help...the rest in the Vatican did nothing...

    • @sebastianoraffa2104
      @sebastianoraffa2104 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the story of the suitcase is bullshit, it was the usual catholic/vatican ring that arranged it, I am catholic technically in reality I load the catholic church and vatican (a liberal center right atheist at heart really), christian democratic parties were both ruling Italy and the souther landers of Germay, Bayern and Baden-Württemberg (with storng influence over the national govt), so catholic antisemitic politicians and priests, Germans (who requested the return of their old boy) and Italians (who conceded it), who belived that the NOT SOLDIER BUT COLDLESS BASTARD MURDERER KAPPLER had the right to return to his home, welcomed and cherished by his community... All very disgusting and shameful really. Escaped in a suitcase...in Rome everybody knew it was all a set up. Again all very disgusting, a few more should got hanged or perish as they murdered, instead they got a second chance, damm those who gave it to them and who today think it was just after all...

      The role of the Catholic Church is complicated. Firstly, after WW2 , there were millions of people displaced, without any ID at all. They were far from their home countries. So the process was started by the Catholic Church to make "refugee visas" for people to go places.Nazis in hiding claimed to be fake persons and applied for these visas to go to SAmerica. So on the surface, you see a "refugee visa" allowing some nazi fugitive to get to Argentina. And it is easy to say "the Catholic Church whisked them there." But the reality was more complicated.

Priebke's nazi buddy in Argentina actually ratted out Priebke's location on camera to Sam Donaldson on the street,, then they went and found Priebke on the street. The story of the news team and nazi hunters that smuggled into Argentina with Sam is a huge one as well.

      To be fair a number of Catholic priests were killed by the Nazis also. So it was not a one way street. However some were indeed affiliated with the wrong side in ww2, most notably the Croation Catholic church who supported the Nazi allied Ustashe Croation regime in the balkans as they massacred countless thousands of Orthodox Christians simply because they were not Croatian and not Catholics and because they were orthodox Christians.
      Many Orthodox Christian priests died in the struggle against the Nazis and did much to help the fight, one of the most notable examples being an Orthodox Chuch in Prague who helped to hide Czech/Slovak anti-Nazi resistance fighters in a tunnel hidden under the church. They knew the Nazis would eventually find it and there would be serious consequences but they knew helping the resistance was the right thing to do. The Nazis raided the orthodox church in 1942 and there are still bullet holes that can be seen at the church today from that battle that the church purposely left there as a sign of remembrance to those who died.

    I was on a large pipefitting job in San Jose, and for one afternoon, I worked with an old pipe fitter, who had come out of retirement.
    He was drafted in 1945 into the U.S. Army. He took the battery of tests they give each inductee, and he scored genius. So, they had him
    take the test again. Genius. They interviewed him. "What would you like to do in the army?" He answered, "Sleep."
    They made him a Nazi war criminal hunter. He said that he became an alcoholic because it was mostly boredom, waiting for assignment,
    and he could sleep all he wanted. He told me of one assignment he got, which was to hunt for a Nazi war criminal in either Paraguauy or
    Uroguay, I forget which, it's been 3 decades since I worked with him. He said his weapon of choice was a Colt .25 pistol. He could board any
    commercial airliner in that post-war era, with the pistol tucked in a holster which he carried on his belt, in back. He caught up to this Nazi and
    told him he was under arrest. The Nazi drew a gun. He drew he Colt .25 and began shooting, and emptied the entire magazing shooting the
    Nazi dead. I wished I could have worked with him longer, and get more info about his army training and other assignments, but that didn't happen.
    So many people involved in that war, and so many stories lost.

    My grandfather was a cog in the rat line’s machinery to bring Nazi war criminals over to Argentina. Mario Franz Ruffinengo, a former Officer under Mussolini worked in Genua as a contact to Nazis to get them these Red Cross visas. He later moved to Argentina himself and would open a travel agency in Buenos Aires that was very popular with a certain clientele in later years. He even published a travel guide to Argentina in German. My father doesn’t talk all that much about this part of his family history, but my grandfather probably had ties to a few really nasty criminals…
