Dear Mr. van Iterson, I have been fascinated with your guitar performance. The sound of your performance is very cool of my taste. I never feel tired of your sound after hours of listening. Thanks a lot ! Takeshi Ishihara/Japan
Great playing and tone, truly one of my favorite contemporary jazz guitar player. I don't know if I am right but have a memory of another song from that concert "Body and Soul" ? At least it was the same location if not mistaken. In any case would love to watch the rest if its available anywhere!
I really love Martijn's chord work, both solos and comping. Reminds me a bit of Ed Bickert, who has a classic live recording of "Darn that Dream" from 1975 with Paul Desmond quartet. th-cam.com/video/d8rTOg92wCk/w-d-xo.html
don't you just love how the bass player checks his phone at minute 0:29, that just go's to prove how important music and your collegue's solo is to dutch musicians.
Some people have so much talent that they can disrespect their audience by chewing gum during the whole song. They're world famous in their own bubble (pun intended), but seem baffled and blunt when their career is mostly spent teaching and not performing. That's what they don't teach you at the Conservatory: smile, make contact with the people that pay your way and don't look like a fricking hick when you play. Check out Wes' videos and be amazed at the difference. It's called class!
Dude... Wes only had commercial succes when he started playing smooth jazz and pop, same with George Benson, it has nothing to do with not smiling, it has to do with the fact that jazz is a niche. As a matter of fact one of the only commericaly successful jazz musician (Miles) was a complete asshole to everyone, never smiled and still had great success.
I ve jammed with this guy once and I know he is as serious about the music as anybody. I find the song and the rendition beautiful, but that is just me.
Outstanding sound- "if it sounds good, it is good" Duke Ellington
some of the best ballad playing I've ever heard on the guitar.
there are so many underrated guitarist out there and Martijn is definately one of them - fantastic player
How about Jesse van ruller and romain pilon? They are also great.

That guitar has a neutral and balanved sound unlike a L5!
It is essentially a plain ES 175. Great guitar. He changed the tuners to ES 175 tuners.

Far out.. that tone..

hijoe Shut up Hijoe
I checked my phone during his solo lol
hijoe he was looking for a tuning app ,it sounded like he needed one in the solo for that bass
Because Dutch...(?)
maybe he forgot the changes

I’m always amazed at the talent some have of finding something to complain about. How about just enjoying the damn music
Ed Bickert abd Canadian Spearmint!
WHOSE PLAYING SAX?

Someone has listened to East coast love affair.
You mean Kurt Rosenwinkel? Where's the resemblance?
vecernicek2 exactly. Not similar at all. Martin has a very nice fat tone, his taste and choices are pretty much the opposite of Kurt's.
passerell check out kurts record called intuit. It's good
David Seriff I have heard him on that album, and he sounds nothing like martin.
passerell I didn't mean he sounds him, I just meant that it is a good Kurt record.
Why does the bass player look so bored? He even checks his phone.
Very good played! Don't get the jazz gig in the church thing. Jazz got nothing to do with religion...
Gitaarspeler kauwt op iets vanaf 6min10. Muziek wordt minder daardoor. Saai geheel en
onverschillige houding
De Kaasbaron focus kwam gwn wat minder op de gitaar,is ws bedoeld...
Fair enough, I love and play jazz just not into these guys. Like Jimmy Bruno, Rick Stone, Kenny Burrell, Pat Martino etc. All's well ...
mike costello nobody cares whether you play jazz or not
Bass player checking phone during song. Too much..
that was me calling him reminding him what key the song was in
first LOL he obviously had other things on his mind...
He was just turning off his phone.
***** Isn't the button the side? He touched the screen. Can't blame him song is boring...
I ve jammed with this guy once and I know he is as serious about the music as anybody. I find the song and the rendition beautiful, but that is just me.
Stunning, but the attitude of the bass player ruins it a bit.
1bol1 what attitude? You mean at the beginning where he clearly notices his phone is still on and quickly puts it on silence and puts it away?
passerell The sighs and the irritated look on his face
Maybe it was a booty call.
martijn all good, bad sound is fine you just your bad
Tito Penchi wtf you talking about clown
