Since we've all ready had this story between Paige and Sam in season 5, I wish we had seen some interaction between Paige and Patty. I know that was supposed to happen in that 70s episode and was scrapped, but that was just going to be them spending time together. I would like to see the tension in their relationship. Ultimately Patty was the one who decided to give Paige up and deprived her of growing up with her sisters and ever knowing Prue. Patty had her reasons, but Paige does have a right to be angry about that. I would've liked to see that explored.
Well we can probably infer that it did happen offscreen after she was conjured in Charmed Again
It might have been on another video but there was a thread where we reconsidered the over sympathetic way the writers wanted us to look at Patty.
Unlike Sam and Grams, Paige never got a chance to read Patty the riot act for abandoning her and conveniently only introducing Paige to her family when they needed "their precious Charmed Ones" to quote Piper.
Total missed opportunity.
@TCt83067695 I agree with that. Looking back Patty did some shitty things she absolutely should have been called on but never was. The writers always kept her as the saintly dead mom. Which would've worked, but if Paige had this much resentment to Sam, she should've have had as much or more for Patty.
Brian being Piper always makes me laugh. The inflections in the voice and mannerisms, just spot on. He improved a long way from season 1, I think.
I really enjoy how Paige was written into the show - we knew that Patty had a lover, and that he was a white lighter. They totally could have had a child together. I also enjoy that Paige is not 100% a witch, and has white ligher responsibilities, that is very fresh
Yeah it's why she's my favourite
Season 8 was when my favorite sister Paige looked her best. I don't know what the make up artists or the wardrobe department learned for her for this season but my hat's off to them.
They did get a new wardrobe person for Season 8 I believe. It was Eilish from 2-7
Your credibility will never be in jeopardy, you make excellent video analysis on a beloved series. ❤
Awww thanks ^_^
I agree. We may have very different perspectives (Prue is my favourite and so is season 2), but I sure love your videos! And you're right, this episode seems quite rich
There are some good things about s8. Like for example that I really like how the Halliwells are similat to each other in therms of looks. And the wardrobe got better.
Really want an in depth explanation on the theory of Paige being the most powerful sister.
It makes sense to me given that she has angelic powers through genetics and is born from the Halliwell line, later initiated as an official Charmed One.
I used to believe Phoebe had the potential to be the most powerful surprisingly- her empathic ability to channel others in a world where magic is tied to emotions seems like a major cheat code.
Things that make me think it's Phoebe. That empathy power to steal other people's power was a great cheat code. Second Phoebe is the first being to be born who had powers in the womb. It was Phoebe's birth that made the charmed ones possible. Being the third sister. Remember her mother believed that their line was cursed not to have the third child. Patty was infertile "not that it was any of their business" but still miraculously had Phoebe. Phoebe was the one who read the incantation to give them back their powers. Phoebe was the first one to get a vision. Despite them rewriting history Phoebe not Piper was the one who always wrote the spells and made the potions that never backfired.
Reasons to believe it was Paige. She was half white lighter and was the first known twice blessed child. Half witch and half white lighter. Paige was innately magical and could always orb. Even when her witch powers are taken she remains a powerful force due to her white lighter powers. Paige took to the craft.
Yes pleassseee this videeeoooo
@@williethomas5116I think the title "twice blessed" just refers to that individual being the first born of a charmed one
So in the lore, the eldest sister is the strongest. Always.
However, Paige is the most powerful (strongest and powerful are not synonymous here) because she has all the whitelighter powers (levitating, telekinesis, orbing, glamoring, invisibility etc) as well as her active witch powers.
She can do more without rhyming unlike her sisters.
Hope that explains why she's the most powerful (not strongest) 😊
@@williethomas5116Simon, the brit, looked older than Paige and was openly practicing magic in public. He was a witch whitelighter too. So Paige couldn't have been the first well known one.
Lost Picture Show is for sure one of my favorite episodes of season 8. I would have to think about the series as a whole ranking now cause I think it could make it to my top ten for being such a well-written and performed episode even though it’s not as wild and ambitious as many other episodes. I love me some Paige-focused episodes. And Billie’s character really benefited from this episode like you said. JD was the first innocent she lost and had to come to terms with the fact that magic isn’t all fun and games. And like with Hulkus Pockus where she almost died, Billie had to come to terms with the fact that she needs to take this seriously.
I always love your in depth analysis to the episodes. If I could suggest episodes you may review, like The Eyes Have It. I really loved that episode. Thank you so much!
I really love that one too :)
Man, i thought Sam was in more episodes. Thats nuts
He didn't even come to his own daughter's wedding smh
Loved this episode so much. Billie actually began growing on me. She felt like a student and it also felt like Classic Charmed. Succchhh an underrated episode next to Eyes Have It. This episode makes me very sad knowing that this happiness between Billie and the Sisters will be short lived. 😢
The eyes have it is definitely a great episode. I like how Season 5 added a second demon-of-the-week into the episode rather than just one. Orin and Kree were great and the episode felt like it had two halves. One with Lidia and Kree then one with Ava and Orin. Well-balanced episode with nice intimacy, gypsy info and great visuals and colors.
The Eyes Have It is such a great episode indeed!
@@AmoMe2009loved it so much. I was hoping Phoebe's powers would advance some more from that episode. It was so cool.
I get so happy when I see one of your videos! Let's me see Charmed through a whole new perspective which I appreciate!!
That's really great to hear ^_^ Many thanks!
I love episodes focused on Paige! Apart from the similiaties and call backs to past episodes, that you mentioned, the demon of this episode reminds me of Gammill (Size Matters). Both demons used a certain method to trap their victims.
Also, all three ladies look gorgeous on this episode and I really like Leo with that longish hair-style!
I agree that Paige is the most powerful in terms of ability although Prue/Piper are canonically the strongest because of birth order. Paige could, in theory, orb you into a volcano or orb out your brain/heart.
I remember the actor who played j.d he was on days of our lives
You should do bite me and the good the bad and the cursed
Bite Me was definitely a good one. Even if you take out the vampires, it was a great paced episode with important plots points of the season especially that ending.
JD will be reborn as a whitelighter and it be so cool that Phoebe have a premonition about JD and Billie as future lovers and delivered are first power of 3 charmed one’s that is not a Halliwell or Matthews and Billie will be the first of her family history to have the first newer generation of charmed one’s 🥰
For once I make it to a vid on the very day! I love Charmed so much lol
Your videos always feel too short! I swear I can watch an hour-long review of Charmed :D
My next one will probably be longer, if the 16 pages of script are anything to go by (these vids typically have only 5 or 6 pages)
@@BetterWithBob something to look forward to :)
I agree, your videos are amazing!
So close to 10k baby!!!!
The best!
Hopefully soon!
@@BetterWithBob Easily brotha!
I thought JD and Billie were really sweet, that they couldve been something great, when he died, it broke my heart.
It's very tragic for sure
Technically, they could be together. If JD became a whitelighter, he could be with Billie. But that's just an hypothesis.
Great video. Thank you for shedding lights on everything that goes on to make an episode
Sam I Am was a masterpiece of an episode. I will not stand for this blasphemy sir.
Loved this episode so much when it aired and I remember i used to rewatch it but fast-forward thru the Phoebe scenes. That storyline just didn't interest me at all.
MVP goes to Brian. He was too perfect as Piper.
I really don't like that episode ha
*So lucky they wrote the Sam And Patty affair into the show in season 2. I wonder how they would have introduced Paige into the show if they had not of done the episode P3 H2O*
I'm sure they would have contrived a way somehow lol
I was there for Philip Kiriakis. ❤
Yeah me too
The ending was beautiful, and portrayed Billy in a very likable light. I felt for her.
Thanks for making this video. This episode was very rich.
What were you planning on saying at the end if your reputation wasn't a concern?
Ah that was just a joke lol. I said everything I wanted to really ^_^
*Bob, could you please do more Anatomy of an episode's of Buffy? I love both Charmed and Buffy*
When this video popped up and I saw you chose this episode I thought 'Are you on crack Bob...?' XD haha This was an episode in Season 8 I hated lol - I'm not a Season 8 hater by any means, but this one felt like it justified all the season criticism it was getting. I remember being really irked by Paige being angry at Sam, because I thought after Sam I Am (which is an episode I really like) that by the end of it, she had made peace with her biological dad and they ended things on a good note. So it felt like a rehash to bring up the 'you're not my dad - my dad was a firefighter!' thing again - I think I felt the recurring thing theme Paige had i.e. 'my adopted family WAS my family' trope getting tiring, similar to Pipers 'I wanna be normal!' or Prue's 'I don't wanna be the responsible eldest!' - those elements of the characters made sense, but I got sick of the show constantly bringing up the same schtick but just across different episodes....
BUT - you do make some good points re: why Paige would have felt angry with Sam at this point. And I agree it's nice to see Piper and Leo come into conflict but overcome it and have an episode that's more focused on the personal journeys of each main character, that's not about big magical showdowns.
I will disagree on the Billie and JD story - I thought that guy was not only a bad actor, but him and Kayley didn't have chemistry imo - I think even Bran Kern gave an interview about this episode and he said he felt they didn't choose the best actor to go opposite Kaley. So, yes - I would have preferred no Billie romance storyline for this episode, if I had the choice.
I do really like that you're bringing to light the good episodes of Season 8. I think it does have lots of good episodes and it was definitely worth having it rather than have Season 7 be the end. Look forward to more Season 8 episode videos!
thank you for your thoughts :)
Brian said that? Shady 😂
@@TCt83067695 I think they meant to type Brad Kern
@@BetterWithBob thanks that makes more sense. Can't imagine Brian would be that disrespectful. Brad on the other hand...
@@TCt83067695 haha to be fair, I think he was more referring to the chemistry this guy and Kaley had wasn't great - not necessarily his acting ability. I think it was Brad, or may have been another producer - but I definitely remember reading they weren't happy with how the chemistry between the two played out on screen. Definitely no Piper and Mark! I agree JD and Billie just don't have chemistry, they're scenes are awkward and it really drags the episode as a whole down for me.
I love Sam I Am😂 learning Wyatt basically made Piper invincible, Cole's descent into madness, and Piper admitting Paige is the piece holding them together made it a fun watch. It always bugged me a bit that when Piper was given the choice between Phoebe & Paige she'd pick Phoebe & circumstances just allowed Paige to be saved too (like the mummy episode & the episode Piper was death), so to see Piper in no uncertain terms make it clear to Sam he was not allowed to let Paige die made me happy.
If you really think about it The elders are seriously the WORST.
Like analyze the stuff they do.
Yeah I can't stand them
I feel like they're kind of necessary for what they do. When someone has that much power, they have to be reigned in and kept in check
"Why do you need a job? You're a witch. A Whitelighter." I dunno, Sam. Maybe because they inherited a large house and those skills won't keep the lights on or heat running through the house😂
THANK YOU!The 94 version of little women was and always be the best!
I recently had fun taking shots at the poor direction of the 2019 version in a podcast I guested on lol
Yeah I didn't like that they retconned Sam's ending I loved the happy ending with sam ending up with patty
They pretty much had to if they ever wanted him to meet his daughter. P3H20 was in season 2 and Paige didn't come around til season 4, and he didn't even meet her til season 5. I just wish they didn't keep going backwards when it came to their relationships with their dads, because they did it with Victor too. Victor/Sam shows up, one or more of the sisters hates them, they make up by the end of the episode, then the dad disappears for a few years. It's one of the things that bugs me about the show.
It's even worse with Sam and Paige because she could call him at literally any time and he'd orb right to her.
i understand her being upset when he wants to be dad of the year all of a sudden but i never understood why she forgave patty so quickly and no sam. he even said he didnt initially want paige to find him, because he knew she was doing just fine.
did you ever watch warehouse 13 and bones if so what you think of
cludia and arti
temperance and both
Watched I think one or two episodes of Bones but not enough to have a big opinion on it
I like season 8 good way to end show like everyone got want they want happy how charmed end
i know it hasnt been a huge chance since red hair page and brunette paige in season 8 but maybe it's just me but season 8 paige looks way older than she should be with black hair, especially because 4 years prior she had black hair but looked more than 4 years younger. red hair era paige was my face. she was a go getter and sassier. it also doesnt help that im partial to red heads
I waited and waited for Andy to be brought back as a white lighter but only got to see Kyle Brody be made into one
Does not make sense
How can Phoebe and Piper make it about them the fastest! It's a constant competition!
the leo and piper switch was way more believable than the paige/phoebe one. i think rose captured phoebe but alyssa did a terrible job with paige
i mean if billie is the ultimate power, why not just kidnap billie instead of christy?
This got me thinking Phoebe was very critical she wanted a child so badly Her Cole did not work out if you wanted a child without having any relationship with a man this is original because you have those that are in the same gender attraction. You know are in a lesbian relationship will donate sperm and will not have any intercourse with men to get pregnant this sound original to donate sperm Phoebe she is very judgmental she wants a daughter so badly but she needs to look typically perfect and to have a good features something tells me that Phoebe she wants a daughter to look perfect but can any child be perfect so this sounds interesting the situation when someone wants to donate a child or donating sperm I would say
why do you need a job? because bills need to be paid.
You see I dislike this episode 😅
