Mirror's Edge is a great series, and even though Mirror's Edge 3 may never release, I still wanted to take a look back on both games.

I think we as humans tend to think in relatively short terms. We may not get another Mirrors Edge for 10 or 20 years, but the idea - what Mirrors Edge represented - that will come back in the form of, if not a reboot, a very similar game eventually. First-person parkour is a grossly underrated genre that just needs to be done right.
Or this has to do about EA telling DICE on what to make next.
Developers around EA and Activision are known to make games that are known to sell and to return back the numbers to their investors..
There is no hope for EA to become a fully creative publisher ever again..
So they might have to be acquired by another company that have better plans for EA..
Gamers, i present you the dying light series
@@deltatime9010 not the same. It has parkour in it but it is not a game centred around it exclusively.
@@deltatime9010the parkour in both Dying Light games is pretty flawed.
In DL1, they barely allow you to parkour. It’s mostly just jumping, sliding, and running up walls, but the sense of movement isn’t there.
In DL2, the parkour features have been heavily increased, but because of Aiden’s superhuman abilities, it doesn’t feel grounded like Mirror’s Edge
Catalyst is and always will be, one of my all time favourites. It’s a huge shame we probably won’t get another. We’d have to show massive support for the franchise for EA to green light a third game. Great video by the way.
It feels like a longshot but maybe Dice could try purchasing the rights from EA sort of like how American McGee is doing for the Alice series. Thank you for watching!
@@ShyCorn to be honest, I think the rights for mirror’s edge aren’t even that expensive for dice, they probably could buy it easily, now it’s the waiting game if they actually will
heyy we commented skate 4 into existence by literally spamming them with how much we loved skate
LETS DO THE SAME FOR MIRRORS EDGE
this game legit made me cry at times :D
i'd hold that thought brother, just keep spreading the gospel, that's how we get a new game, just like the LA beast and Crystal Pepsi
If we do get another mirror's edge I really hope you can do weapon disarms that's the big thing catalyst is missing. I don't know why they didn't think to put weapon disarms in catalyst. Someone as experienced in martial arts as faith running from the swat should know how to disarm people. It's not sport fighting like MMA or boxing with stupid rules it's about life and death so the fact that I can't disarm the swat in the game is very disappointing considering how good catalyst is. Both the first mirror's edge and catalyst are still my favorite games of all time. There's so many things game developers miss that seem really obvious to me.
I played this game back on my Xbox and then now on PC and it looks gorgeous, the parkour never gets old. They nailed the sequel in my opinion.
Catalyst remains one of the best games I have had the pleasure of playing.
A sad thing to note and the real reason we won't get another mirror's edge is that Dice doesn't really exists anymore, at least they are not the same guys as before. After BF1 more than 70% of the studio was replaced with new devs as most of Dice's team left to create their own studios etc. According to EA's datas, there's now less than 1% of the devs currently at Dice thar have more than 10years working in this studio, meaning that there's currently no devs at Dice that worked on any of the 2 mirror's edge games. So Dice is essentialy a completely fresh team which doesn't have the same vision nor the same mindset or ambition as their elders
I always come back to ME, and sometimes Catalyst, exploring, speedrunning, and it is still stunning each time. I can't let go, I want the third game. I wholeheartedly agree with your video, and unfortunately it'll never happen
Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you enjoyed!
never say never, I’ve heard some rumors recently that they have been working on the third game since 2019 Obviously COVID delays and with the new consoles out they can really get movin. From what i’ve heard, it’s a direct sequel to Catalyst but with a massive 8 year time jump. I’m sure with the next gen consoles they can make the world bigger and way more immersive. That’s all i’ve heard but i can’t wait to see
@@Wookie_Lover77 Holy crap! Can you link something to that! I mean hopefully that is true and it sounds like it! Amazing :)
I know I and everyone would be sad if they never release a Mirror's Edge 3, personally I found the Mirror's Edge franchise to be brilliant, specifically Mirror's Edge catalyst such a brilliant graphical well detailed and emotional game, a 3thd game and more must be released.
I completely agree! Thank you for watching! Please check out my latest video that I put out a few days ago and subscribe if you enjoy my content 😄
All I ask for is for a mirror's edge 3 and a Portal 3. Portal 3 seems less likely tho seeing as valve can't count to 3 and the fact that portal ended in such a definitive way that the story couldn't really continue but I can still hope and dream
Well, I think we will never see a 3thd game just because the end just tell us that the sister of Faith is now at the power, so, it's difficult to release a new part as a sequel, so, this means if they make a new game, it's probably that will not be the same history
the problem is the americans and english who only buy fifa and cod every year... and kill franchises like mirros edge and dead space and so many others... games pass is a solution for less popular games like mirros edge to come to life
@@Dasistrite I don't get why people prefer the original tbh. Sure, it is nostalgic and is great for speed runners but it is super short and lacks a lot of content to make it a solid game. I always thought it would have been cool for the game to have a free roam and that is what catalyst brought in which I thought was insane at the time. Catalyst also brought attention to other issues the original had that it also improved on, such as the controls becoming more fluent and less clunky, the story becoming much more full and in-depth (not saying it was the best story but an improvement), the combat was a huge improvement as the original combat was awful and ruined the flow and I have no idea why the fps mechanics were needed when the game was all about speed and momentum and obviously there was huge overhall in the graphics despite the original already looking great for it's time. It remained faithful to the original but filled in it's gaps.
It may never release but I’ll still be waiting as there ain’t nothing out there similar to it. Mirrors Edge Catalyst motivated me to start exercising back in 2018, I would go to the gym and listen to the soundtrack, I would go home and rest while playing the game. It also helps with my fear of heights as there would be times when playing the game I would get vertigo lol. Great video, please keep up the underrated work!
Thank you so much! I'm glad to see the game had such a positive impact on your life, and I'll be waiting for the next one right alongside ya 😁
BRO SAME I started parkour in 2018 ;(
ghostrunner is as close as we get
Not only was your commentary superb, but your editing skills also kicked it up the notch, especially the end. I grew up with the game since I was around 5 or 6, watching my brother play the first game and religiously listening to the soundtracks, gameplay and parkour videos just to get through my tough childhood. Faith gave me faith and hope. I was so excited when Catalyst came out that it gave me tears. Mirror's edge was given a new life and I had started a new life in the city away from the nightmare I had to deal with as a kid. It was like the game and I both grew together. Ever since then the games and Faith have been the biggest inspirations and rocks in my life. It would be amazing to see the third one, but as you said, EA is a make or break company, and games are just becoming the same with little risk and exploration happening. Feels like the world is literally becoming what mirror's edge is (well not in a good way)! Thanks for the video, it was great
Comments like these are why I love making videos, thank you so much! I'm aiming to make at least one a month now, so hopefully I can stick to that schedule and hopefully you stick around to see it too 😁
@@ShyCorn I cant wait to see more of your videos! I watched a couple after this one and some of these games I've never heard of so I'm interested. Good luck! 💖
@@crystvlone4881 Awesome mirror's edge means a lot to me too we can only hope for a greater third release of mirror's edge one day I can't wait to see faith running again with the sound of Solar fields.
so EA dont like my money??
@@zulik9831 theyvprobably want the next biggest game, idk howcmuch they would make off it, but like freegrounds im sure they could make it interesting fresh and fun while still having a great story if they put the work in.
I just finished watching your video and at first had thought it would've been about the reasons of why the game won't exist, but instead you took the viewers and I on the trip of the astonishment of the two games, kinda proving why there can't be a third one by a short conclusion, and I loved that ending with the music, it was perfect with everything you had done, earned a new viewer today man.
I just started Catalyst ❤.
I could tell right away, it starts off on a fast pace. In the first game, the Game tutorial was very slow paced, letting you take your time, in Catalyst, you barely have a chance to breathe.
Definitely part of why I love Catalyst!
There's so many things to say about the first Mirror's Edge. Its ending is engraved in my soul as one of the rares that got tears from me because of how invested the game made me. And the main theme is really a perfect depiction of the game : simple, epurated, high and luminous, hopeful and peaceful.
I think it's both the biggest obstacle and the best chance for a third game : immersive, contemplating peaceful games are not the bread and butter of big names of the industry, but it resonates more and more with a bigger and bigger crowd of gamers, to the point that it's not hard to name one or two even if you don't keep an eye on the latest games.
So who knows ? The AAA industry is slowly crumbling under its own weight (and greed*arumpf*) and the thirst for such games seems to increase with each year. I'm not waiting on a third Mirror's Edge, even less from nowadays EA, I just feel like it's something that is bound to happen eventually, be it with an official third or just a heavily inspired successor.
Maybe it already started in a quite sneaky way. Assassin's Creed 1's acrobatics became "free running" at some point, and you can find parkour and free running mechanics almost everywhere now. Of course Mirror's Edge didn't single-handedly forced that change, but it sure feels like it was the spearhead.
During Catalyst I think the devs forgot the original was something new. Catalyst tried to apply the typical formula: skill trees, over-complicated story, leaderboards.
Mirror's Edge was great because it was simple. No HUD, no compass and you could see your feet (which was rare back then).
The world felt believable, I didn't need the whole story because I could fill in the blanks. The city and the concept of runners made enough sense that I didn't need to know much more, and the animated cut scenes made it feel even more niche... the realistic one make it seem like the game is taking itself too seriously
I loved the original because it was calmingly casual. I didn't finish it right away, I played it in between other games because I'd get bored of them quick, and Mirror's Edge was something I could just pickup and run. "What was the level right before this?" 'It really doesn't matter, it's just another day on the job'
The sad thing is, i played literally every parkour game i could find since getting hooked with ME in 2009, and none of those managed to scratch that exact itch. Not to say they were bad, but this combination of gameplay, aesthetics, character ... that's just where it's at 👌
Mirror's edge 1 came in 2008
Mirrors edge catalyst was announced in 2013 and finally came in 2016
So there is a chance to see mirror's edge 3 in 2024. Let's not loose hope.
Not happening, yet lol.
😞 .....
This game was and still is so beautiful and I enjoyed all the mechanics in the game, I really do hope they make another, a sequel to catalyst bc I would love to see where the story goes
Mirrors edge catalyst is better than Cyberpunk 2077
It certainly released in a more stable state! Thanks for watching!
Pretty much anything is better than Cyberpunk 2077.
Mirror's Edge catalyst could've been more fun i they allowed us to access the whole city at ground level, and make more out of it, as in stores to get gear, clothes, yada yada you name it. But at the same time if they did do that, adding up to (letting us use cars and all) the game might've gone off topic of what it was meant to be, people could possibly call it a gta rip off, but still, the game would've been amazing regardless.
This random guy is speaking real facts.
Ciberpunk hypedme to play mirrors edge no joke xdd
I found out about Mirror's Edge last year during the first lockdown here. And I must say, I was not disappointed at all! The gameplay was fenomenal, the story was amazing! It certainly is one of my favorites alongside the NFS and Life is Strange series.
And I bought Catalyst a few months ago for my PS4, and it was even more incredible than the first entry. Sometimes I just go back to Catalyst, just to look at the landscapes, while listening to the relaxing, yet amazing soundtrack of the game.
Yes I did find this game series pretty late, nonetheless still an amazing series. Sometimes I just dream of being in Glass, just to look at the sun going down behind The Shard.
Your video was really well made! The commentary was top notch. You got yourself a new subscriber!
Unfortunately, I doubt that EA will release a 3rd entry, unless the fans show massive support for the franchise.
I still find myself booting up Catalyst just to run around the city and relax. I hope to see at least one more game in the franchise, but I doubt it will be soon. Thank you, I really appreciate your comment! Please share my videos around online to help the channel grow 😊
I love that scene with Faith's breakdown it helps to make her feel more human. Even though I felt the story was rushed and didn't have time to develope it's characters It had protensional.
I agree, the story could've fleshed things out a bit more, especially toward the end. However, what is there does a great job at developing the characters. Thank you very much for watching! Please subscribe and share my content around if you enjoyed the video 😁
I first played ME:C with my Xbox game pass subscription. I would come home from school everyday and play it. I loved the parkour and combat so much. I felt so much joy playing the game.
i’m late to this video but i wanted to share my story. i was first introduced to ME in 2009, i was around my uncles house and he let me play it on his xbox 360. i begged him to let me take it home because my dad had his own xbox, and he let me! i played this game for hours on end and i really wish i kept that xbox. every time i play it now it reminds me of my childhood and my younger self. in 2015, when i saw that first ever announcement trailer for catalyst, my heart stopped. i was so excited i could have cried. and then in 2016 my mum got it for me because she knew i was obsessed! i have now got 300+ hours on this game, currently replaying it to 100% it. i love how ME took me through my childhood and from the comments i can see others had the same experience. we are all praying for a 3, and i keep hope we will get one eventually
I'm so glad I found mirrors edge especially at my age, my older brother got catalyst and I remember trying to beat it when I was younger but gave up, this year I decided I was gonna beat the game. Even after beating the 2nd game I played the 1st and I just cant stop playing this game something about it makes me always come back
They're the kind of games I always leave installed so I can pop back in every so often and play to relax, I totally understand! Thank you for watching, please share my content around if you enjoyed this video 😊
1st game can be played in multiplayer. Also campaign coop with mods
@@cripplettv1309 Oh, interesting
Mirrors edge is a one of a kind game, very fun and very beautiful. Its unfortunate that it got pushed to the side for big corporations to release fifa, call of duty, battlefield, 2k and Mario all over again. Lack of competition keeps these big titles afloat and I bet if mirrors edge was given more attention then it would be phenomenal. (Also if fans could have their input in the making of a sequel). Unfortunately its EA who holds this game with an iron grip so maybe us fans should take things into our own hands. If there isn't a mirrors edge 3 then we should invent one.
I played Mirrors Edge Catalyst some months ago, and bought Mirrors Edge too. I played it in this week, and it's so amazing. I like the first version better, because the story is so cute.
Glad to see people are still buying these games and getting into the series even years after release! Thanks for watching!
@@ShyCorn Yeah, it's my favourite game. First Step: Buy the game. Second step: Play the game. Third step: Become a speedrunner xD
I remember being super young when I first played the first Mirror's edge and being really scared of the heights, but came back to catalyst when I saw it on sale, years and years after and now it's my favourite game of all time, helping me through tough times, and now I speedrun it and hold many wr's
Mirror's Edge is such a special series, it's one of my favorites too! I'm glad to see it's bringing people into the speedrunning scene as well 😁
I love Mirror's Edge: Their story, these cities, parkour, everything is beautiful there! But sometimes you think that the second part ended as it should, like there is nothing to continue. But I really wish there was a part 3...
Such a damn shame they rebooted instead of making a direct sequel. Maybe one day...
Absolutely amazing intro and vid
I’m really glad you liked it, thank you!
Fr, Mirror’s Edge 1 was a gem, if it’s ain’t broke don’t fix it. (reboot)
im starting to cry everytime i hear mirrors edge music, i played it in my childhood when i was like 8 or 9
It's a super nostalgic series for a lot of people, I'm glad to see it resonates with you too! Thank you for watching! Please subscribe and share my content around if you enjoyed the video 😊
Still alive is such a peak song and incredibly fitting for mirrors edge. I still think losing still alive as the main theme in catalyst was a majorly bad move. And that song is just made for nostalgia
Not gonna lie; this is one of my favorite game. It had some of the best graphics I’ve seen. I really want them to make a 3rd one.
11:28 GAVE ME THE CHILLS. HOLY BATMAN IS THE EDITING AMAZING.
11:39 when she's running and jumps is the best bit. Holy crap. Goosebumps
ShyCorn, so happy you liked my comment. But what song is that at 11:28? Thanks
Hope you are doing well. The first game for me was the best and really hit me in the feels. I never usually am able to follow stories in games. Too much going on at the same time, so I never knew that we are saving Faith's sister from being framed. But the journey and then the ending music and the camera panning and getting further away from her at the end of the first game really hit me in the feels. F man. The whole game is a masterpiece.
Thank you for such kind comments! I list all of the songs and video clips used in the description under a credits section, it should be down there towards the bottom since I place them in order of appearance!
Shycorn , how come you don't make videos anymore?
Your videos are really good and thoughtful I really hope you come back someday.
All the best mate.
That means a lot to read, thank you. This channel has always been a passion project for me, and life has just been super busy lately that it's hard to find the time to work on something consistently. I'll definitely be back with more videos, but they might take more time to produce. I hope to see you in the comments of my next video, whenever it releases 😊
If you've stopped and looked around even at the most exciting part of the game you playing, you're probably playing Mirror's Edge. If you find yourself standing up and lighting a cigarette after that, well, then see a doc. (And quit smoking immediately)
The way I see it: EA DICE don’t really know what to do with Mirror’s Edge. That’s why it took so long for Catalyst to come around; EA wanted to make sure they could make a game to build upon ME.
So I’d honestly say: give me a remake of Mirror’s Edge 1. Brush up the character models, add new movement and combat features, maybe even punch up the story a little bit & offer fully rendered cutscenes (keeping the original animatics as an option). A remake would keeps the brand alive and could maybe inspire a new story for a potential ME3.
These games are beautiful, the movement is fluid and truth be told: I can always root for a game where combat isn’t always lethal. Not only is it refreshing but it says about Faith. That to me is the reason she deserves to be a much bigger gaming icon.
It's the sad truth that we may never get another mirrors edge game. It's such an amazing game and has so many possibilities, I remember the first time playing catalyst, such a thrilling experience ever since i played the first mirrors edge. I even imagined a mission where you are on gigantic planes jumping from one to another while escaping being shot, y'know that sort of stuff. So many possibilities, I'll never forget this game. Im glad you made this video, it really made me realize how much i loved the game and the community it created, it really makes a person happy. im definitely subscribing! Keep on making videos man 👍
Thank you so much for your support!
watching Medge being run without side jump boosts is like listening to nails screeching on a chalkboard.
Something worth pointing out is that there is a longer age gap between ME1 and ME2, than there is from ME2 and today. If people rewrote the hype around ME then a 3rd installment could be possible. The main concern could just be how society has changed in the meantime. Between ME1 and ME2, the entire online parkour scene exploded, as well as - like you point out - youtube content creators making "real life videogame" short films with parkour being a central theme in a lot of them, all the urban climbing/exploration videos emerged from all around the world and became a worldwide phenomenon.
Fast forward to today, and a lot of these things have lost their novelty in a modern world where 10 second tik tok videos and trend wagonning attention grab content is all that everyone care about. There isn't the time left for people to sit back in awe, because awe needs buildup. It needs context, but there is little room for building context when the entire world tries to force feed us new stories every 15 seconds and every corner of our lives is filled by meaningless ads and clickbait that only serve one purpose: to never give our attention a break. To never let us stop and think "what would I actually enjoy watching?".
We need to break this cycle. We need to create the catalyst for Mirror's Edge's hype and future potential. We need to speak up and show the industry that we STILL CARE about original game experiences that don't follow the latest battle royale or hero shooter trend. We need to show them that quality gaming experiences is STILL what we are here for, why we became invested in videogames in the first place, and why we WANT to stay invested. We NEED Mirrors Edge 3.
You know the video is great when it has such a positive like/dislike ratio - love that people are still talking about and enjoying this game !
I never expected my video to garner such positive reception, or that I'd see so many other people in the comments who are as nostalgic for the series as I am. Thank you so much for watching! Please consider subscribing and sharing my videos around online to help the channel grow 😁
The mirror's edge franchise could easily be a competitor the assassin's creed franchise, if EA would get their heads out of their asses long enough to realize it
Ayeee you used the piano version of the theme song!
Helps with avoiding copyright claims but it's also my favorite version of the song!
good video man. just like any other game, this game still has a community that upholds and its so good to see.
While there were a lot of flaws in catalyst like mediocre map design with heavy potential, some mission design, an iffy story with iffy side missions, and lack of things to do besides missions (only a few side missions and mindless collectibles), i still fell in love with the game and prefer it over the first. I love it so much that when I downloaded it (off a torrent, shhhhhh) in 2017, I put many many hours into it and would stay up until 3am on school nights, unwinding with the soul-healing music and atmosphere of the city. 3 years of watching speedruns and learning how to do them myself, running around the city after collecting everything and discovering cool new routes, and imagining how cool it would be if we got to play in bauble mall lol.
Love the game so much that I (re)bought it for $11 on sale on my ps4, played thru the whole thing again, collected every collectible and had the same thrilling experience. Reason I purchased it again on ps4 was because i wanted to indulge in the amazing graphics that the game has to offer for a 2016 GAME. Funny thing is, im going to be buying a gaming laptop real soon so in a month or so, i will once again repurchase the game AGAIN on origin for $24 or however much it is-- i have never gone this far for any other game.
Final words, your video essay was fire and i agree that this game can definitely capture peoples hearts with the tone and atmosphere of it. Other games, you may like that it has cool guns or cool cars or good graphics, but with mirrors edge you love the soul and the atmosphere put into it, not looking to play but to experience.
Thank you for such a fantastic comment! I completely agree, no game is perfect, but Mirror's Edge just has something about it that keeps pulling you right back into it. I hope you subscribe to see future videos 😄

The first mirrors edge was my personal favorite game of that entire generation. Until I actually say and played the entire game back on PS3 in 2012. Since 08 I just been playing the Xbox 360 demo nonstop. The soundtrack was amazing. "Still Alive" was a good theme song for that title. I felt like there was no game that resonated with me other then Mirrors Edge. At that time of release I had to been like 11 years old. When Mirrors Edge Catalyst was teased at E3 2013. I knew I had to find a way to make a jump to that new generation of consoles. Mirrors Edge Catalyst was the killer app for me. From the story, graphics, sound track by solar fields and chvches. That game was just a fresh breath of air that I needed. I beat the game on Xbox one. This past summer I went ahead and play through the first game for the first time on Xbox. Mirrors Edge is timeless and underrated and I feel like you had to be around that time to experience it the way we did.
I love both games, it have something very touching and magic. Hope one day the DICE guys bring us the Third Mirror's :)
I still play catalyst even today.. and fond memories of ME. One thing I loved about the games were the glitches and bugs.. which allowed a player to explore so many cool and wonderful OOB areas! That fact took ME and MEC to a whole new level of coolness for me.. a game about parkour and technology, hacking and espionage type shit and also actually being able to glitch the game to access hidden areas others couldnt.. but for me ME and especially MEC was a special kind of nostalgic experience.. it took me personally back to a time in my childhood I would dream of the future and become filled with wonderment and possibilities.. MEC with its gorgeous scenes married to a flawless OST takes me there everytime.. I HOPE that we get a 3rd installment, even if its picked up by someone else
It makes me happy to see how nostalgic this series is for people in the comments as much as it is for me too. I used to love messing around in the original Mirror's Edge to see what I could break in each level! Thank you for watching, and I hope you consider subscribing and sharing my content around 😁
ME:C might actually be one of my favorite games of all time. Unlike most, I like the combat and don’t think it’s clunky. The open-world may be empty, but I still love running around in it. I just wish that EA/Dice would stop being money-hungry companies but that won’t happen if people keep proving the industry right
I Hope that one day we will see a continuation of Catalyst... I love this franchise so much 💖
Mirrors edge is a Masterpiece and id love if dice continues this gameplay scenario like making mirrors edge online where you can make your own character and do heists to sabotage Krueger SEC or stuff it would be so amazing but they should also make The single player unique like GTA and make it more fun playing alone 🙏😂
Any follow-up to Catalyst by EA would in all likelihood be rife with mtx. That's just the way things are these days. I honestly don't care about making my own runner and playing in some online hub, but I wouldn't mind playing as Icarus or Isabel - err, I mean 'Caitlyn'.. yeah (it's Isabel ☺) for a while. Actually, giving us a choice to play as different characters from the beginning that have different abilities and tricks would definitely bring replayability to a sequel. But I couldn't care less about online play; I mostly just want to continue Faith's story.
This game is simply breath-taking! Catalyst was the first one I played (and still playing) but kicked myself for not getting into this much earlier. Nice analysis and commentary as well!

I don’t care about the story at all. I just love the lighting, use of color, soundtrack, sound, mechanics, animations, textures, architecture, level design, and getting to run through it like a ninja. I think ME 1 might be my favorite, but they are both good.
I don’t think the story was the strongest in either entry, but the gameplay across both is still unmatched even by other parkour-focused games out there. Thanks for watching!
They should only refine what the first one offered, there was no need to redefine the whole game. Catalyst feels much more futuristic where the first one was a little bit more grounded.
I think the original game had a better cast, story, vibe, structure, and aesthetic. The reboot had much better gameplay and combat. Literally just make a ME3 similar to the original and add in MEC gameplay
Yes just remaster and remake the original
i just want guns in me3
@@houseis I think that would be the most realistic future
@@vacameccanica Same
@@vacameccanica catalyst is a prequel so im guessing faith started using guns as she grew up so if me3 does ever release as a sequel guns will be in it
Im glad this game still getting attention, at least a bit. I met this game 2 years ago by a friend, and it became my favourite games ever. I bought all of their items (figures, special edition items, comics, art book, and even more). I really enjoyed this video and i have to say, thank you. Thank you for this video, some tears fell for it.
That means a lot to hear, thank you so much! I'm glad to see people enjoying the content I make. Please consider subscribing and checking out some of my other videos too 😄
EA has decided that Mirror's Edge 2 will not come out the same way as 3rd part.
DICE should release mirrors edge 3. the history about how Faith sister's ended being a cop has not finished
Thank you for watching! Please subscribe if you enjoyed the video 😁
first of all great video, second love catalyst its my all time favorite game. third thanks for narrowing down the part explaining that dice redid the entire story, i was very confused on that and spent much time trying to tie mirrors edge 1 and catalyst together lol, and last if only dice wasnt with EA games they more than likely wouldve developed a third mirrors edge game. it was meant to be a trilogy at first but we will never get that 3rd game i guess. big sad.
It's ironic that a game all about freedom and breaking free might not get a sequel becusse the developers don't have the freedom to make it
There is a beat that I left in the xbox one version of mirrors edge since 2016, and to this day no one has found it! Its still there waiting to be discovered, it is somewhere in the main hub. Hint: Before you jump up the vents in the hub (where you can jump from both sides up and where the 2 runners are jumping and training) there is a vent that goes up along the hub wall. There actually is a way up there and it leads to a glitched area when you get to the top, follow the vent and go through the wall crouching forward until you drop down onto an invisible floor, voila there it is still untouched.
one more thing, you got to use the hold jump to get up the wall vent!
I played Catalyst on PC but if I ever get the Xbox version I'll try to find it! Thank you for watching, please subscribe and share my content around if you enjoy it 😄
@@ShyCorn scrubscribed
After a certain time period the beat will stop appearing on peoples map's and will get replaced with newly made ones, so unfortunately, might be impossible to find :(

If there is not a sequel to Catalyst in the near future I will start a rebellion.
It's a shame Catalyst's poor sales and reception likely killed the series since I actually think the conditions are perfect for a comeback with how much EA's single player games have improved the past few years between Jedi Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor and the Dead Space remake
Same thing is with Army of Two series.
They are made from EA but last part was released back in 2012 :(
I wish they continued this series but only thing that ea cares is money :(
You should really play all 3 games cuz they are awesome !
I absolutely loved the first two Army of Two games, though I haven’t played the third one yet. Maybe I’ll take a look at them in a video at some point! Thank you for watching! Please subscribe and share the channel around online if you can 😁
i LOVE DICE and their work, unfortunately it depends on EA(god damit EA). You have spitted some facts in this video, damn... not gonna lie, i felt it, however i still hope well see Faith once again in the future. One the strongest female characters in video games, just love her so much. Congrats for the video my man, nice editing and its clear to see your passion for the franchise!
The lore has so many questions like
Is this the future
Are we one earth
What country are we in
How did the enemy’s get so powerful
Edit we are around the Oceania area according to the wiki
Thank god there is no score system in the main story. I play this game for fun and not for competition.
Played both ME and ME:C all in one go this week, just finished the campaign and side missions (plan to do a bit more running). And damn this was some damn good two games. At first it was meh ME:C but after sticking with it I really don’t wanna stop and wanna hear Faith, Plastic, Icarus, and more of their voices on what they need help with. I really want a third game, though I would want to be done great than the alternative.
It took 10 years to make another game so idk. But I ever so hope they’ll consider/think about making a third. Mirrors Edge is so different from other first POV games which makes it so unique
i have over thousand of hours in both mirror's edge 1 and mirror's edge catalyst. not having a third game just makes me sad because the game has so much potential. even made my TH-cam profile pic my mirror's edge catalyst runner profile
I may not have that many hours into the series, but I still love it just the same. I hope one day we can see that potential expanded on and utilized to the fullest in a full-fledged Mirror's Edge 3. Thank you very much for watching! Please subscribe, check out my other content, and share it around if you enjoyed the video 😊
I first ever heard about mirrors edge in a Smosh video back in 2015ish and the only factor that I liked in that whole game was the theme(music), not the gameplay, although I did find it cool. After one year, when Catalyst was released, I was very eager and watched all the gameplay online and absolutely loved the running concept it embraced that was different from other shooters.i promised myself that I would solely play this game when I felt absolutely sure I would appreciate every minute detail.I kept it on my to-pay list ever since. Fast forward to 2023, I saw this video by BBKDRAGON about Mirrors Edge and decided to play it. I finally started playing it and HOLY HECK ITS GOOD. Even though mirrors edge 1 was released in 2008, I still loved it. People love this game because it offers an outstanding REPLAYABILITY value.
>The people at DICE care
After bf5 and 2042, I'm pretty sure they don't care even a little, at least not anymore
If we got get a part 3
1) definitely go back to the lvl base mission system
2) give use the ability to "kill in motion" example faith runs at an enemies dodges low but pull a pin on grenade the enemy had on there belt or have to were faith can disarm an enemy kill up to 2 enemies quickly takeout one fair away and push the close one to the ground ending it with a heads shot then she throws away the gun and keeps running depending on the weaopn depends on the takedown. That way you keep the flow of moving forward while taking out enemies
Good job on the video man! It brought back memories. The Mirror's Edge games are dear to my heart, and I do hope they'll make a new one, one day. As long as Dice are around then hope is... Still Alive. Once again, great video!
Having just replayed them both back to back i enjoyed catalyst far more
EA posted a mirror's edge post but to everyone's disappointment it wasn't a teaser for a new mirror's edge 3 not yet not now we will wait the first mirror's edge aesthetic atmosphere and music was special I remember just sitting back and listening to the music of solar fields I'll wait for a third release there is si many possibilities for the third but it's not looking so good right now.
I saw the post you mentioned and I was super excited at first! It's just nice to see they haven't forgotten about Mirror's Edge, even if a new game isn't in the cards for now. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe and share my content around if you enjoyed the video, I have a new one coming out on Friday 😁
I did try to find where that post at in mirrors edge but I didn't find it anywhere,it's kinda strange
While not the same series, I am currently playing Ghostrunner and that game really scratches my itch for a fast paced movement game!
Great content bro. Subbed.
the 8 year curse. 2 more years.
The existence of this video guarantees otherwise. Mirrors edge will return, mark my words.
I remember when mirrors edge released, me and my best friend went crazy about it, especially the design and colors of the map, everything looked really clean, white and reflective with a touch of light colors
Then catalyst released and I insta bought it, and just today I finished it again
I am in love with the map design, reflections and music, trying to decorate my apartment the same way 😄
Nice video man, keep it up
Doing up you apartment like that is awesome, that must look so cool! It's so interesting to think about how much of an influence games can have on us and the inspiration we can take from them. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe and share my content around if you enjoyed the video 😊
@@ShyCorn indeed, the good type of influence though
You got it, you deserve not subs
I prefer the first game. I liked the isolation ambience, the maps, and the sounds better. I also didn't like how Catalyst took away the roll. Faith ain't some beginner that doesn't know parkour, she's an expert already. It'd be different if she was still learning that is.
Bring back the charm and likeable personalities and design of the characters of Mirror's Edge 1, with the beauty of Catalyst. You got yourself a Mirror's Edge 3.
I could definitely get behind your channel for life
Thank you! I hope to see you in the comments of future videos!
I think people mean 2, because there hasn't been a 2. The last one was a reboot.
I hate that catalyst ended with such suspense, promesing us that we would resolve things in further games, and it just ends this way, like nothing ever happened
This ended up being a mouthful and I doubt anyone will read it, but I desperately want to share my opinion on Catalyst.
I enjoyed it gameplay wise but thought some parts of the story came off as preachy. I think the kid I was in 2009 would’ve loved the idea of an open world Mirrors Edge, but in retrospect I just don’t think it worked that well in its favor. I would have been fine with a vast series of open ended levels and natural progression based off of where you are in the story, actually seeing Faith learn and grow in terms of combat and gadgets, rather than the skill tree and open world.
Side content aside, Catalyst takes a little over 8 hours, which hardly increases the time to beat compared to the first game being around 6-8. Plus thats all time spent experiencing unique and varied levels. Not running through the same safe houses dozens of times over. I’m convinced the open world was a design choice based off of the success of Dying Light, possibly EAs direct involvement in hopes to make the game more marketable and “Triple A”. The illusion of more content over real substance, which the game has but is overshadowed in my opinion.
I got to play the game for $5 in a time where Dying Light 2 nearly tempted me into spending over $60, therefor I can’t help but recommend it.
i actually skipped all the cutscenes in catalyst so I have no idea what it's about haha. But I loved the gameplay, and the dashes and deliiveries were hard enough to make them addicting.
God those games are amazing. It might be a good thing though we haven't been oversaturated with sequels. Might tarnish our nostalgia.
It would be great to see a third game eventually, but you're right, I wouldn’t want it to become an annual franchise or anything like that. Thank you for watching! Please check out my latest video and share it around if you enjoy it 😄
@@ShyCorn yeah I just came across your channel. Good work btw. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of what you got.
I first played mirror's edge catalyst months ago and this game touched my heart, We may not get Mirror's edge 3 but I'll wait
I know Catalyst got a lot of criticism, but it's always nice to see someone who liked it as much as I did. Thank you very much for watching! Please subscribe, check out my other content, and share it around if you enjoyed the video 😁
Only company we can rely on now is Techland since dying light 2 is looking like a great spiritual successor to Mirrors edge but this time in an apocalyptic setting instead parkouring through city ruins and running from hordes of the undead and bandits instead of Kruger sec.
found this video by looking up "mirrors edge 3" was not disappointed. am excited for what videos will come next
Thank you! Check out some of my other videos while I work on the next one!
This is a great video - I've always looked for good explanations of why Mirror's Edge was so popular. Everyone has something everyone else seems to like but them, and Mirror's Edge was that for me. This game and I just did not click. I love ambitious games that push envelope and try revolutionary new things, and I wanted to like this one, but I hated the experience of playing it. In several stages found I was spent a lot of time trying to figure out in which direction I was supposed to run (pathfinding wasn't always obvious, and for a game that relies on speed, it's incredibly frustrating and un-fun to have to stop frequently and figure out which way the game wants you to go), and the trial and error of that process sapped my interest, so by the time I did figure it out I wasn't having fun. A good story can help me power through a game I otherwise wouldn't like, but that safety net was absent here - I didn't care even slightly about what was supposedly happening. It was like playing Jet Set Radio Future without the enjoyment.
I can always appreciate another perspective on the games I cover in my videos, whether I enjoyed them or not. Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! Please consider subscribing and sharing my channel around online if you can 😁
I always felt like dice shot themselves in the foot by making catalyst a reboot and detached from the original. Faith feels like a completely different character and the open world felt more like a bloated Ubisoft game than it needed to be. If a new entry isn't in the cards now i think a remaster would be great to gauge where they can take the series from here. Also they'd be crazy to not make VR version as well, almost surprised they havent done it already but if vr2 has enough legs maybe ea will give them enough rope to do something fun with it like half life alyx
I even bought Catalyst on Origin, even though I despise Origin, that's how much I love this game
i really want dice and insomniac to partner up for a new instalment in the series! i think both are amazing studios that have a strong focus on the feel of gameplay.
Bro this is one of my childhood games I love it and I want it to have a 3rd game so bad the things I’d do it needs a continuation no doubt it would blow up
Ever since I played Catalyst, I understand the meaning of the word 'Weltschmerz'. To know that a city like Glass, with its pure and simplistic aesthetic, does not and probably will never exist, at least not in a timeframe that I could see it, breaks my heart. I went to Singapore and it is about the closest thing to it, but it still not...Glass.
That must've been an amazing trip, I'd love to visit someday. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe and share my content around online if you enjoyed the video 😁
I remember when the game came out I had a school laptop torrented the game and was in love. Have bought the game several years later and replayed it again yesterday and fell in love again. Can’t wait to try the second game tomorrow after work. The first one had a solid story, wonderful graphics and soundtrack that kept you mesmerised during the whole game.
I am just starting this “ catalyst “ I played it on the 360 the first game was really fun. ISucks we won’t get another game.
so, not only Half Life 3 will never exist, but also ME3 will never? Oh boi, i can predict a new wave of memes about this real soon...
if the catalyst storyline was made into a movie then I think it would be worth an Academy Award
