Woodturning a Mushroom Box

In this woodturning tutorial, I show you how I turn a mushroom box on a wood lathe. I show how I use a double-sided tape holding method on a waste block to turn the bottom of the lid. Then turn, shape, and drill the stem of the mushroom or body of the box. The lid is turned by using the tenon on the body of the box as a jam chuck. I finish everything with a walnut oil finish that I make myself because I like the way oil brings out the dark color of the walnut lid.

Hi Jason, I've enjoyed your videos. Made this mushroom as a pressie for my wife. She was very impressed, didn't know I had it in me to make anything so tricky (at least for me as a beginner). Have you thought about making an upside-down salt shaker? I'm going to try one of those as my next project and wouldn't mind following your example if you put a demo up. Thanks!😀
