Polycro is the same stuff that is used for window weatherizing. Cheap and comes in large sizes.

Polycro is about $10 for a piece already cut to go under your setup. I don't mind paying a little to have the piece good to go and not having a ton left over. Always good to have options though.

Hammock Gear is great. I have most of my gear from them as well. But a big upgrade will have to be a dynema tarp. Right now I just have the silpoly and they work great.

Have had nothing but good experiences with my many quilts and tarps from Hammock Gear and dealing with customer service. The DCF tarp is nice when you are on a very long trip but I have a few silpoly tarps that I made that get lots of use too.

Chris - great video thanks for showing your set up - 2 questions:
1 - how many nights would you say you had to go to ground? Single digits? Over 20? Just curious
2 - Wondering if you used your slug tube (i have one of yours from your etsy shop, its great) for your day in and day out setup? Give you had 20 degree insulation top and bottom did this all fit in your slug tube? If so was it super bulky to stuff all that into a Gorilla?
Congrats on finishing the cdt - keep the videos coming!

Thanks for watching. 1.) I'd guess less than 10 nights that being said I used a tent in the basin of Wyoming for about a week since that area is notorious for high winds, no shade, and no trees. 2.) I wanted to save as much weight as possible so I didn't use the slug tube. However I have put 20 deg quilts in the slug tube into the gorilla before and it fits fine for me. Even without the tube I usually pat down the ball of down pretty good before I put my food bag on top when packing. If you just use a compactor bag instead of a stuff sack for everything in your pack you can fit a ton of stuff in most packs. Thanks for checking out my store and Happy Hammocking!

Thanks! I’ll give that a try with the compactor bag

I had a pack liner made of DCF for a long time from Zpacks but gave up on it when a thorn destroyed it earlier this year. The compactor bags are a little tougher and can be replaced much easier and cheaper. The down side is they weigh a little more but avoiding the feeling you get when you open your bag and feel a wet sleeping bag is worth the extra ounce to me.

The weight of the compression sack would probably be more than your mesh slug tube. And the dcf liner probably equivalent. Do you find everything packs easier into the gorilla (or any medium volume pack) if you just take the insulation apart from the hammock and stuff it individually? Thanks

Sorry you said compactor bag - youre right that would probably be slightly lighter than your mesh slug tube. But the real question i have for you is which method fits better and easier into your pack aside from weight savings

Hi! Thanks for watching. Most folks find an underquilt way more comfortable than an air mat inside their hammock. Prices can vary depending on what your needs are. Hammock Gear has a package set you may want to check out. The CDT in Colorado for the most part shares trail with the Colorado Trail which is an amazingly well maintained trail. Id suggest looking up info on it and going after one of those sections. Bikes are allowed on the Colorado Trail.

All the sections of the Colorado Trail were great. You may want to try the lower elevation portion of the colligate loop even though its not part of the CDT it is part of the Colorado Trail and may be better than the higher elevation stuff if you are just going on a section hike. I wouldn't take any dog on the trails in Yellowstone for their safety. You should be able to find a ton of info on the areas you discussed online. I was only there for a brief pass through so I am sure others have great details on where to go and hike
