"I know papers wouldn't seem like the most exciting technology" and then there's me who's special interest is printing paper :D thermal paper is so coool!
Unfortunately it got more expensive on Amazon lately, and I also read the "ink" fades in like two years. Idk how much though. But if you draw over it, like lineart and stuff it's perfect :) I wanna get the same one, I hope it'll get a little cheaper soon.
I may be wrong, but I think common receipts we get from different shops use thermal printing. If you’ve ever held onto a receipt for a long time, then looked at it again, it’s super faded. Just something to keep in mind.
They have them on a website Temu for less than $10 but that is I'm thinking the new user special kind of thing and I will say I don't think that they look exactly alike. They look a little bit more kiddish looking but I'm thinking about getting it for my daughter but of course she will want money to play with her so I can play with it also! 😆
I was sitting through the first part of this video like "hang on, is this not a reupload? I've seen you talk about this before...", then scrolling through your channel and not finding it. Only to realise you did a little stream about it on Stephs channel! My mind was so confused for several minutes 😅
This is so useful, I've tried to make stickers myself many times because they make such good gifts but have had varied levels of success 😅 Also, glad to see the Christmas tree still up after all this time!
fun thing, if your stickers don't have an easy way to peel off the back, you can use a craft knife to cut a slit on the back and then peel :3 just be gentle and dont cut through the sticker itself
I love stickers and I just got my first cricut… it’s a small one too it’s the Cricut Joy! You might want to check it out it doesn’t take up much space… something we’re lacking right now! 😊
Alcohol does ruin thermal paper. I actually learned this at work from grabbing receipts with sanitizer still wet on my hands. Maybe Poscas would be good to try next?
I think this might be the best video I’ve seen on one of these thermal printers! I’m really glad you gave the ‘shelf life’ on how long the stickers last as I was curious and I couldn’t find a solid answer across the internet. I’d love to see how the stickers look in two years time 😊
Thank you for reviewing this! I saw these recently and I wanted to get it. This video is very informative, you really showed how well it can be used and your drawings are so cute!
Even though the price has gone up... I couldn't help myself and bought it! I've been thinking about this printer ever since yall uploaded this video lol I had to have it
@@DoodleDate thanks! Do they bleed when using the amazon felt tip pens? I bought those too lol😅 I don't have alcohol markers so I was wondering if water-based pens would fade the "ink"
FYI, if you have room for a full-sized printer, you can get plain white "sticker" paper (really just label paper in an 8 1/2 X 11 size) made by Avery, which should go easily through any conventional printer. Just scan your own artwork (if you have any photo manipulation software you can also create &/or clean it up--you don't need to shell out for Photoshop to do simple things). You can then print it on the label paper and cut out your own stickers and color them! Or if you have color printer, you can make color stickers. The label paper is surprisingly amenable to a lot of markers, and watercolors are okay if you use a light hand. The paper is available at Staples in the U.S., probably also on-line. A pack of 25 sheets isn't terribly expensive and lasts a long time. You could also go to a copy shop and use their copiers to print out your art on the label paper. Black and white copies are cheap, and even color isn't that bad for a few sheets. Have fun with stickers!
This seems really cool! I've made stickers with a cricut-type thing, but being the 17 year old grandma that I am, I don't have the computer skills/patience to figure out how to do anything cool. This seems pretty straightforward though! I'll have to look into getting one. Love the video, as always!
Didn't you do another video of this when you got it? It would be nice to see how this compares to the other sticker printer you got a few years ago. All I remember from the video is Adam's "Witch Please" sticker"!
Oh that is so cool where look where adults and are so excited about it. 😆😆 And the sad thing is I would probably be more excited than my daughter just cause kids now days are so spoiled. And when I say that I mean my own included!
I've gifted myself the same printer a few months ago, and I absolutely love it. I got a bunch of different sticker rolls, but have only used the permanent ones for stickers, and the rest for prototyping and other temporary things. My favorite paper is gold!!! I've also been colouring stickers with gouache. The only thing that kind of bothers me is that it says that it's 300 dpi, but it looks much lower, especially visible on greys, so it's best to design strictly black and white (transparent) or very high contrast images
This looks really fun! I like the look of Adam's pencil sketch on the gold sticker paper. I don't know what it is about it, but it's super satisfying. And Steph's scrapbook page looks amazing! When I was a teen, there was a time I kinda wanted to try scrapbooking, but I'm just not good at creating cute/interesting collages, tbh. That only made me admire more the people who can do it. ^^
I was skeptical about getting something like this for my shop but seeing it in action has me reconsidering it! I could use this for packaging and bonus stickers! Though the ink fading could be a problem, I'm wondering how to skirt around that haha
I love it! I have a instax mini printer, but I think your printer might be a little less expensive to use? Can't believe I haven't seen this video before.
I recently bought one of these from an outlet store. But it keeps giving me an error and won't print. Watching this video has renewed me desire to get it working!
I remember when you guys made stickers on your channel before! I wanted to see that 5 ft long sticker! XD remember? Or was it 50 ft long? Also where can you buy the extra paper???
This is so weird omg, earlier I spent hours trying to pick a decent label printer and I ended up settling on a phomemo one. And now you post this xD wild
in my experience the prints do fade pretty fast though. i had one of those stickers on my phone case and took it off maybe a month later bc it had become unrecognizable. what's your experience with stickers in places with less action going on? do they stay longer inside a sketchbook?
The gold roll says it's permanent. I have a few stickers printed on gold, they've been sitting undisturbed (but in the open) for months and I don't see any changes. It would be interesting to test them against the sun or being touched on regular basis.
Loving it a lot! Such a good gift from the boi, I remember the unboxing vid you did for this! I won a cricut joy which is the mini cutting machine - takes up so so little space!
I have a three-story house that we never seem to have room 4 anyting to see it I mean like the bigger house by the more stuff eBay you said you had a small place because you don't have room to buy whatever kind of his cricket thing that everybody else's use when I guess where you're from when I would buy something small like that anyways regardless of housing space lol
Thermal paper/printing is temporary, not long term. For my uses it is not worth using. But I really like the idea of having a small printer like that, just wish it was not THERMAL
If you wouldn't rip it off, could you technically make a comic strip that would double as a sticker?🦭 P.S: Love your videos! Ive been enjoying them for years now~^^🤍

I'm soooo happy you're as passionate about it as me!!
me too, i've just bought one!
I had no idea receipts don't use ink! I feel very enlightened now.
The moar you know! 🌈

Good to know! I dont know how much it was because it was a gift from Adamo haha
I'd also warn about if it's a hot day it will fade

I said this as SOON AS STEPH AND ADAM SAID IT, so ignore me. 😂

I had flashbacks to the sticker video when Port Jackson was made, good times :)
I'm obsessed with Adams shirt omg..AND stickers !! thermal printing!!! we love to hear it!!

The wiggle animation of the micro usb cable had me giggling 🤣 it gave me "would you love if I was a worm" meme vibes lol
I want this gadget, it looks so fun. I was instantly sold on the glitter paper
The glitter paper is so my fav, it makes everything so f a n c y ~ ~

Sunlights a big factor so in a sketchbook is gonna last a lot longer!
@@DoodleDate I was guessing that but it's good to know! I really wanna make some stickers now lol

Thanks so much ! I was literally talking to family how I want to buy a sticker thingy!
I had a Sinclair Spectrum printer that used thermal paper.
I love that! I think my parents had something similar!
Does anyone know if you were to put a piece of packing tape over the paper if it would help with it not fading ?
there is a ceramic blade you can use to lightly split the back of your stickers so you don't have to leave a tab and dull the adhesive
Intriguing 🧐
indubitably!
What a fun little tool! (You might want to wash your hands after handling that paper, though.)
Feeding the algorithm 🦄
I’m hungry for more sticker content
Xyron has a friend!!! 18ft sticker mayhaps???
