Tough to watch the older guy get into dominant positions only to be stood up over and over. Feel like the ref is an embodiment of casual mma fans that just want to see striking with small gloves

They called it "freestyle" because the commissions were going to come down hard on them for calling it MMA and declaring winners without the commission getting their cut of the money Streetbeefs takes in. It's the advice Guy Metzger gave me after he wanted no part in our fights but instead went on to create another league with Chuck Norris at the time. I forgot what it was called, but it was similar to what Karate Combat is doing now. I don't know what happened with this thinking and why they went back to MMA and boxing when they really shouldn't be doing either, but making their own "style" for backyard rules like we have.

The first heel hook attempt was something like 25 seconds. Looks to be about 2 minutes rounds. So in a pro fight would be more like 1:10 to compare. But yea the opponent helping to convince the ref wasn't cool. In previous fights Scarface seems concerned with serious injury's from submissions and has them look real close at them. The ref is a boxing coach also and didn't used to ref MMA fights. There is other ppl there that are better fit to ref MMA. He's a good boxing ref though.

Another excellent breakdown. I had no idea he was going for that leg lock on the first attempt where he missed, but mighty mouse saw it and the next thing I see is dude trying to tear the others leg off. Also LOVE the pausing and pointing out what's wrong with the submission attempt. It's that attention to detail that makes all the difference between a successful submission and just making someone uncomfortable. I've also never heard of nor seen that roll before. So cool to have a pro be able to point this stuff out and I completely 100 percent agree that the stand ups were bullshit. These refs have no idea what they're seeing or how to fight..."freestyle" wtf?

He also doesn't even train anymore, so he is in real bad shape with conditioning/cardio!
He just rolls off the couch and takes these matches in streetbeefs lol..

@@camflht3463 Did u not read the rest of my comments lol..
His pro mma record is deceiving bc he fought guys who were much bigger then him bc he couldn't find opponents back then in his weight class!
This was back in the day when the UFC for example didn't have any weight classes below 170 or 155 maybe it was..
Dan was about 135lbs back then and he was fighting guys who were 155lbs and above! So Dan was giving up 20lbs or more in most of his fights lol..
Heck he fought one guy that weighed 185lbs one time smfh.. Dan was crazy and would fight anyone regardless of weight! The guy who weighed 185lbs name was Jake Short u can look it up lol
And very few of Dan's opponents were able to finish him lol.. Most of his losses were by decision! That is pretty impressive if u ask me, to be given up 20 plus pounds on average and rarely getting finished!
He lost some fights early on in his career by submission but that was when he was a BJJ white belt and blue belt going up against guys who were way more experienced then Dan..
See what u got to understand is that Dan's opponents were from well known mma gyms and had been training for years!
Dan was basically training on his own and had no coach or real training partners lol
Dan fought many UFC opponents not in the UFC but at smaller shows before they made it to the UFC..
      Guys like:
Miguel Torres (at the time Dan fought him, Torres was the #1 ranked P4P fighter in the world!)
Roger Huerta (first UFC fighter to be on ESPN the magazine)
Eddie Wineland (Long time UFC veteran)
      Jeff Curran
      Phil Johns
      Etc. Etc. Etc.
      All UFC fighters!
And all these guys with the exception of Torres were much heavier then Dan!!
Hey my guy, challenge Dan to a streetbeefs fight and see how you do lol.. (After all Dan is 48 years old now and his body is broken down from all the injuries he has suffered over all his years of fighting).. So give it a shot 🤣
And one other thing, as far as toughness goes, you would be hard pressed to find a tougher human being then Dan!!
Dude has no quit in him and has never quit in a fight due to strikes or fatigue!! You will have a tough time finding many fighters who have 60 pro mma fights and have never quit from strikes or fatigue!!
Trust me, i know Dan personally and he is a bad bad man!!
My name is Shawn i boxed amateur with Dan back in the day and have known him for over 30 years! (We have been friends and IDK a tougher guy then Dan)..
And the guy can fight and is a savage!!
Go watch all his streetbeef fights and realize he could hurt these guys really badly if he choose too!! (He is nice and just submits them rather then hurt them like he could!)..
And this is him at 48 years old completely out of shape going up against 20 year olds etc..
      Challenge him my guy 😱

      @beverlypatama8148 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@mefilmmaking No definitely not to DJ's career! But at the same time he didn't get the training and top level gym and coaches DJ had..
So it's hard to say where he could of ended up if he had that 🤷🏻‍♂️
Also Dan took any fight offered to him, regardless of the skill level gap at the time or the weight disadvantage he almost always was up against! (Not a smart way to pad your record and build your career, but it's what Dan did)..
Most fighters work their way up and won't fight experienced more skilled opponents as they build their careers..
Which is the correct way to do it, but Dan didn't operate that way lol 🤷🏻‍♂️
I just asked Dan today why he didn't take a more measured approach to his pro fighting career and not take fights against heavier opponents and more skilled opponents when he wasn't ready at that time for it..
Dan's response to me was, IDC man i just loved to fight and i wanted to test myself vs the best opponents i could lol..
Like i said before, Dan is crazy and he just didn't operate the way most up and coming fighters did/would 🤷🏻‍♂️
He would fight one day and then literally travel 100's of miles by car to fight the next day at a different show in a different state lol and smfh..
Go watch his fight vs Miguel Torres it's on TH-cam! And keep in mind Dan was a BJJ blue belt when he fought Torres who was the #1 P4P fighter in the world at that time!! (Dan lost a decision and it was a fair decision but Torres by no means dominated him).. Dan's crazy ass even mocked Torres with a karate kid crane kick pose at one moment in the fight lol..
I could go on and on, but just know he was fighting experienced fighters and people who were BJJ purple belts and higher when Dan was a white belt!
I'm sure if DJ took the route Dan took, his record wouldn't be what it is!!
Also when Dan started out, there were no BJJ schools or mma gyms in Erie P.A where we lived!
He basically self taught himself BJJ and then after some years he started traveling and training BJJ with a guy in Rochester NY by the name of John Stutzman i think was his name..
And then eventually traveled to Cincinnati Ohio to train BJJ under Jorge Jurgell who was a BJJ black belt and fought in the UFC for a period of time..
Dan eventually got his BJJ black belt from Jorge Jurgell..
And again when u factor in the big weight disadvantage Dan was up against vs most of the opponents he fought on top of the experience level of his opponents and lack of a real gym in Erie and real training partners that Dan didn't have, I think it's remarkable what he was able to accomplish in his pro career 🤷🏻‍♂️
He held many titles in different organizations across the country.. (Danger Zone, Hook N Shoot and a few others i can't remember the names of).. He also fought in King of the Cage as well..
He fought in just about every organization u can think of, besides the UFC and Pride 🤷🏻‍♂️
See UFC didn't have a 135lb weight class back in those days and wouldn't allow someone to fight who was 20-30lbs smaller then a opponent..
But these smaller organizations didn't care about that and many of them weren't even regulated by a athletic commission lol..
It was different times back then!!
And look at how many future UFC fighters Dan fought in his career! (And none of them steamrolled him!)..
Being good friends with Dan, I saw firsthand what he was up against during his pro career, especially in the first 3-4 years of his career!
He is a absolute Warrior my guy and a much better fighter then his record indicates!
You can trust me on that or not, but he is undefeated at streetbeefs at 48 years old with no ACL in one of his knees and a torn rotator cuff in one of his shoulders and a torn labrum on the other side vs young guys! (Dan is in terrible shape now and literally rolls off the couch and destroys these young guys)...
I know he supposedly lost to Jenga in SB, but we all know that was complete BS as they kept standing them up when Dan had dominate positions and as you see even DJ said that was complete BS lol
Now do i think DJ is far more athletically gifted then Dan ever was? Absolutely he is!!
Do i think in his prime Dan could of beat DJ?? No i don't!
But DJ is one of the best mma fighters in history lol..
Do i think Dan in his prime could of went the distance with DJ?? Yes very possibly i do think he could of..
And please keep in mind when u watch Dan in SB, he is 48 years old out of shape and doesn't really train anymore!
Go watch Dan's SB fights vs Street Lordes and Deathrow and every other one.. (He makes quick work of all these guys lol)..
Anyway Takecare Man and just please remember records can be deceiving when you don't know the context and disadvantages he was up against! (Granted Dan choose to take these fights anyway, so that is on him lol)..
But man he is one tough SOB and a Warrior! (And a good fighter)..
Again Takecare and maybe challenge him at SB and find out for yourself lol.. If u do, goodluck 👍

@Mighty Gaming Your breakdowns are so interesting to watch. I have a stupid question, is there a strategical reason why the younger guy wasn't trying to hammer down/ punch the older guys body/unguarded side? I am talking about when he was asking the reff about time. Side note you're the GOAT in my eyes, your demeanour, your fighting style and humble warrior spirit is a testament to what MMA should be all about.

Mighty mouse, freestyle fighting its when you create something of your own. Whether it's grappling or standing to striking in Odd way, never seen before. As for mma, it's mixed martial arts, as you know, you is Goat. That evolves you adding other already created fighting styles that you learned from someone else.

I was very impressed with the older guys grappling skill. He's a black belt for sure. He did good, for his age. If they would have not kept standing them up, the young man would of tapped out or cried. He was already panicking and whining, when he was in that heel hook.

I didn't understand the rules of this match. I've been seeing for a while the referees do awkward rulings or don't stop fights when they should. It's like they don't let the grapplers grapple so the strikers can strike. Often very one sided. And also, why would the referee start tapping their backs before the round ended, it's like getting in the way preventing them from doing an explosive move, all it takes is 1 second and anyone could tap out or throw a surprise knock out punch. Red shirt had it as a win in the first round, but the referee interfered (again I don't know the rules of this match)

    • @aarondavidson4093
      @aarondavidson4093 ปีที่แล้ว +1
