    What wonderful memories of my former life, always brings me to tears when I see this beautiful machine fly high above the world and always took me safely home again. That thrust, that noise, that sheer joy of reaching above the clouds is a wonder of human intelligence and knowhow. The skill of the pilots and of the friendly cabin crew, how lucky to be alive and have experienced that.

    Nothing ever beat the 747s! The Queen is such one of most remarkable aircraft ever built along with Concorde n Antonov An-225! Too bad it's harder to find any passenger 747s are being retired during pandemic! Glad Lufthansa keeping their Queens of the Skies flying for many years to come! Lovely sounds of RB211 and views of LAX!

    Concorde however is the TRUE Queen of the Skies. Nothing else compares its beauty, power, glamour, speed and technical achievement. The Tu-144 only satisfies 3 of those. A very unique aircraft and it's a damning sign that Aviation took a giant step backwards with her retirement.

      Seemed to hesitate on rotation a bit. Few seconds from full rotation to having the lift to start climbing. Heavy, description mentions a full load, and it may have attempted rotation a few seconds early. LAX 25R has 12,000 feet total which is pretty long.

    There was one like this that used to take off out of Phoenix every evening around 5:30 or so....i would take my son to sky harbor and sit near the runway and we would watch it take off and head east....that was a couple years ago; not sure if that flight still exists but it was fun stuff; my son really enjoyed it.

      +Atharva Bendre A380 has a very smooth engine. i,ve travel from dubai to london in the first class. it was damn superb.

    • @blackship2380
      @blackship2380 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is because these engines are smaller than the a380 so it has to spin fast to power the plane unlike in a380, trent 900's are bigger than rb211 so it doesn't have to spin fast just to make the a380 fly so it produce less noise even in takeoff. Just think of the ge90, it is very big that the fan section itself is enough to power the 777 so it runs almost silently because it doesn't have to spin fast.

    • @ag6371
      @ag6371 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blackship2380 The Trent 900 is quieter by the thickness of the A380's fuselage (the same reason why the outer window appears smaller than the inner window)

      I guess I am going crazy as you said. But since I am a Plane Spotter at Los Angeles International Airport, I can tell you that we have 8 different Airlines that fly A380's, and 3 of them have replace old 747 or 777 for A380's in the past year. If you don't believe me, you can check my channel.
      List of Airlines that fly A380's in and out of Los Angeles International Airport as follows,
      1. China Southern
      2. British Airways
      3. Asiana Airlines
      4. Qantas
      5. Singapore
      6. Korean Air

      Scott Mayfield Sure, that might be on paper. As far as airlines flying new 777 are Eva Air and Philippines Airlines at Los Angeles International. Emirates change their 777 last year for a A380, British Change one 747 last year, and on May they added another A380. And just recently Asiana change one of their 747 for another A380.

    ok, folks, some physics: the cam is mounted fix (rel. to frame of window) During take-off roll the wingtip is hanging down. At rotation the partial lift is increased to a lift bigger than the aircraft's weight so it can leave the ground - and this can be observed if you SWITCH BACK AND FORTH between ~ 0:20 and 1:20+, note the wingtip at least 8-10ft higher (ref. windowframe) as the gross weight is bending the outer part of the wing upwards. Take aim and note this on your next flight, on airbuses even more accentuated.

    Man that's long! Glad you enjoyed it! I'm flying from Philly to Hawaii by the end of this month. So that'll be a flight leg from PHL-ORD-HNL. This will be my longest flight ever. I hope to have a video up of it but unfornately I wasn't able to get window seats for the second half of the flight from ORD to HNL :(. I have wingview seats for the first half when I fly btwn PHL to ORD though so I'll try.

    Forget about the Airbus plastic plane! This is the best beautiful plane what is it about 40 years old now and still going strong this is what I want if I'm flying overseas! Boing way ahead of the times and rolls Royce awesome combo!

    I love the 747 most gorgeous plane ever built... We flew from LAX to Honolulu on Japan Air Lines 747 and flew First Class and went up on the upper deck... It was strange flying into HNL and flying over Pearl Harbor on a Japan Air Lines 747 .. just saying.. But we had a great flight... oh btw where were you flying from LAX and what airline were you on... I think I recognize those beautiful blue engines that is the paint scheme for Delta Air Lines..

    The RB211 is the same engine that powered the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. I wonder if there was any difference between the version that powered the TriStar and the version that powered the 747-400.

      The 211 is a family of engines. There are a number of different variants to the engine, most notably the -22B (as per the TriStar), the -524s (as per the 747 and later the 767), and the -535 (as per the 757 and Tu-204). The RB211s in this lovely video are the later standard 524s with better internals and wide-chord fan blades, whereas the ones on the TriStar are old 22Bs - although I think some later ones got early 524s - with clappered fan blades and the capability to make a lovely racket as they fly around.
      The RB211 is the predecessor to the Trent family, and some of the Trent architecture found its way back into the RB211 series (most notably the Trent 700 HP system found in later 524s - the engines features in this video are probably fitted with the Trent-engineered systems).
      HTH :)

    Unlimited in power because if you max out the engines during cruise the aircraft tears itself apart and unlimited in reach because on a trip from London to Sydney it has to land in Hong Kong to re-fuel, you mean?

    The largest plane I ever flown in was a TWA L1011 from SFO to JFK in 1975. Never had the pleasure of flying in a 747-400. I wonder which airlines are going to use the 747-8? It is a longer version of the 747-400. It is sad many U.S. airlines are phasing out the 747 because of fuel costs.

      Lufthansa, Air China, Korean Air, and Transaero will fly the 747-8i.
