Bhattis belong to all types of social groupings depending on the area where they live, Bhattis are found in Rajputs, Jatts, Gujjars, Tarkhans and even among Kashmiris too. In Gujranwala and Sialkot and neighboring areas of Sandal Bar Bhattis are considered a Jatt tribe not Rajput tribe, they also historically used to marry only with other Jatts of this region. My friend from this area was Sandhu Jatt but his mother was Bhatti Jatt, so Dulla Bhatti was definitely a Bhatti Jatt because he belonged to Sandal Bar in Rachna Doab just like Bhatti Jatts in Gujranwala and Sialkot.
Bhatti r Rajpoot from Jaisalmer but one prince after some argument left Jaisalmer and came to Punjab. he married a Jat girl and his children began living among Jats and became known as Jats. my own surname is from the same line. a hero of 1965 war a Pakistani Major was also Bhatti. not all but many Sidhu Bhatti and Brar surname people still resemble quite a bit. i saw another Pakistani Sidhu fellow in a utube video in northen Sindh he not only looked like me but had similar manners and speech
Sheikha Gakhar and his son Jasrat Gakhar were vassals of Shahmiri Sultans of Kashmir. Vassal in English means a subordinate governor of a region who acknowledges the suzerainty of a more stronger King than themselves located somewhere else. Shahmiris Sultans of Kashmir had conquered the larger Sialkot region which is referred as Madra in Kashmir chronicles from that time but installed Sheikha Gakhar and later his son Jasrat Gakhar as their vassal governors in these regions, that was their only claim to fame. Some of the direct descendants of Jasrat Gakhar still live in Baramula Kashmir where they now call themselves "Kakroo" because in Kashmiri language Gakhar changed to Kakroo. A prominent Kashmiri from Baramula from 19th century was Khawaja Abdul Samad Kakroo who was one of the direct descendants of Jasrat Gakhar.
Gandhara Shahis were a Dardic Kohistani speaking people who are now found mainly in Dir, Swat and Kohistan. Kohistani speaking people don't exist in Peshawar anymore but a thousand years ago Peshawar was the headquarter of Kohistani speaking Gandhara Shahis.
