Jason I’ve said it before, you are a great teacher and your channel is superb, however, as a sound engineer here in the UK since 1970 I have one little disagreement with you, to get the correct balance it’s best to monitor with loudspeakers, cans are ok if your audience are listening on cans which I guess is not very often. Now this is more of an issue when mixing multitrack music material and Waves supply a series of useful plug-ins if cans have to be used but even when mixing video with, say, just a narration track and background fx or music with cans the balance very often is biased away from the voice track which comes in too soft. To anyone using cans I would suggest, using the previous example, always make the voice a little louder than you think it should be or better still, if it’s viable, monitor with loudspeakers.
I'm with ya, I pretty much always edit on monitors, not on headphones. I use headphones if I'm trying to find something or if I'm not in my studio, out and about. There is a difference for sure. I talk about headphones often because many people don't have the luxury of using monitors. It's either laptop speakers or headphones from what I've seen. Just doing my best to help people who edit video 😁 But this video was about my course updates, not using headphones to make audio sound better. 😜 Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! I appreciate it!
This course is awesome and I highly recommend it - if you are a subscriber to, Jason, you will feel a familiarity with the videos. #highlyrecommended 🤘
Hey Jason, portions of my audio sound weird - like I'm underwater. Sometimes it's super short and other times it's longer. Could you tell me how to fix just those portions? New to all of this. Thanks so much I love the videos!
Hey! You might want to dump those sections into a new track so you can work with them and not mess up the audio that's ok. Then I'd use some EQ and boost the frequencies above 4k to help add some clarity. Maybe that will help.
Dope! You've added updates! I've been too lazy to check 😂... Awesome course ppl, if you're on the fence about it, get off the fence and get it. $79 for lots of great step by step guidance on how to use Fairlight and really good audio audio knowledge that I've paid thousands for on an audio engineering degree [Sidenote, Don't get a degree in audio engineering, especially in 2025] 🙃🙂😁😆😂🤣
hey jason i was wondering if there is a way to get a hardware insert or hardware sends and returns. i would like to use outboard gear in fairlight but i cant figure it out.
If you have picked up my course already, share your thoughts below. I’d love to hear what you think!
You're the best bro!! Thank you for all you do Jason! You truly have made an indelible impact on my editing journey! Respect

I want the ONE STOP SHOP!! Purchasing now!!
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the course and learn a ton!

I think you might be able to do it using the Patch window, but I'm not sure. I've never used external gear, but I'm sure you can do it somehow....🤔
discount code if possible 🥰😍🤩
Sorry no discount codes. 😜 you get a lot of value for $79. 😁
