This was a great video fun to watch and instructional you gave me some motivation to attempt to make some spoons this weekend hopefully no firewood 😂 also at around 3:45 the auto generated captions pick up the wood hitting the floor as applause even the wood is grateful
Moraknives are the the best alternative, because its good quality compared to the price. I would never ever ever recommend Beaver Craft. Its cheap, low quality tools. You get what you pay for. Pay a bit more for Moraknives and you'll get better tools. Later, you should buy Hans Karlsson tools :)
Jonas that is some of the best tool control I've ever seen. I'm an old school joiner & carpenter & a good axe has always been by my side, so I truly enjoyed watching you make the spoon. I would love to see a few photos of your spoon carving horse as I want to make one. My carving horse isn't suitable for spoons. Thanks for sharing. Hugo.
Hey Hugo! wow, that means a lot to me. Thank you! It's so important to have full control of your tools, especially when it comes to the axe which is a wonderful tool, but also really dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. The shavehorse is a Svante Djärv, from Sweden. I think they're some of the best. For me at least. I'll take some pictures and post it on my Instagram soon. Can't post anything here yet.. But I'm working on it. Need 500 more subscribers and 2000 more viewhours. I might get there before newyears eve i Hope :) Cheers from Denmark!
Beautiful spoon, thank you for sharing! I am very new to spoon carving and I am wondering what to put on the spoon when I am done? I am wondering what you use? Thank you for your help
was going to ask why the stop cut on one side only ... learned something very useful there what with the 90ºangle to facilitate easier stock removal on the non-stop-cut side. Hadn't seen that done before. Thx again for that bit of trickery ;)

Amazing work I will soon start carving because/ thanks to people like you but well I'm a little sad because I still don't know where I will do it x) I'm living in an apartment I'm afraid my neighbors will not like it 😅
You have a great talent not just for woodworking but also for video editing. Thank you so much for putting these together. I know it isn't always easy but you instill a sense of peace within those who view your content. Side note: who made that hook/spoon knife?
It’s made using primitive way. If power tools are used to make this spoon, it would be much quicker, easier and safer. Such as grinder, jig saw, multi tool, sander, etc.
@@formgjortbyJonasAls it’s highly relying on personal skills. You have top level personal carving skills, carving this spoon is easy for you, but it’s not easy for me, as a initial beginner. If I did it, I would use lathe to cut the handle to a smaller diameter, use jig saw to cut the spoon part; then I would use grinder with wood cutting bowel to make the curvy part. At the last stage I would use a few different sanders or sanding machines to trim it. This is my way. I believe that the special primitive tools you used are very expensive.
@@formgjortbyJonasAlsI finished my very first spoon a month ago. I can't remember clearly but I seem to recall I used to teeth to carve out some of the detail. Lacking an axe and just about everything else required to make a spoon...
Beautiful work, but if you’d of used a bandsaw to cut out your initial shape, you could have gotten two spoons outta that one block instead of one and a big pile of waste.
