    I have stopped looking at Benchmade stuff...THE PRICES ARE STUPID...I like that knife, but it's TINY, and mostly aluminum..which is a cheap metal. I can get a small M4 knife elsewhere for way less

      @@presidentmerkinmuffley6769 to be fair, my caniks been pretty good to me these last 7 years. But maybe I got lucky. That said, yeah I stopped considering ever buying a Benchmade years ago. Nothing they make or could ever make, would make me even give them a second look. I'm admittedly cheap, but I also consider other factors when buying a knife, and brands like Ontario, civivi, vosteed, and cold steel offer everything that I need out of a knife.

  • @christiannasca3520
    @christiannasca3520 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have the Tactile Knife Maverick, my all time favorite, and as shown in the video, it did not flick open or closed everytime. It often got stuck half way or bounced back, if more momentum was applied.
    However, the solution was simple: After adding a few drops of oil to the pivot washers (no disassembly needed), the action became super silky smooth. Now it drops shut in a constant, retarded, hydraulic motion, just like the eject motion of an old, high end cassette player.
    It seems that this model comes with insufficient lubrication from the factory, but it's easy enough to fix. I use the Victorinox oil, which has just the right viscosity for the purpose and is food safe at the same time.

    Bm is slam out their damned minds but they're gonna keep charging these ungodly prices long as people buy em. I'm probably wrong but you cannot convince me that knifes worth $300 tax and shipping added. The little native was $150. That's half the price or nearly time you add tax and shipping. The BM is really good looking but not that much

    • @disco4535
      @disco4535 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's not even remotely close to what it should be. It's aluminum, not Ti scales, with a 2.5", thin .09" piece of M4...for basically $300. Love the look of it but that price is just ridiculous, and not even considerable imo.

      I know professional chefs in Italy (people that studied with me in university chemistry and then went on being chefs) and they use either Opinel parings because in their opinion and most chefs they are the best or they gift themselves some custom one since it’s the second most used knife from what they tell me and it’s mostly a personal knife that only they use.
      150$ for 1095 and micarta is completely mind boggling. It’d be probably acceptable if it was in Magnacut, but 1095 hell no.

I’ve sent messages to the company with little to no response. There are dozens of similar vendors and I’m about to end my patronage due to the lax customer service. I’m a patient person but in 2023 to place an order of in stock items,pay immediately and then wait several days until any updates, along with slow shipping, is inexcusable. I’ll still watch your videos but likely to purchase elsewhere. Beware to any buyers shopping. Very disappointing.:(

      I bought stuff from KC up until last year. When I signed up, I used a unique email generated by my phone… I started getting scam emails (including my account info and CC info) at that unique address. There are too many good retailers who care about their patrons, and ship faster anyway.

      Amen. I didn’t even go into those kinds of things. It’s extremely disappointing. I like this man and his videos and the website it good. But like I said over a decade of patronage but the last few years are bad. And no response or if a reply it’s basically too bad. And I’ve spent a lot of coin with them. But even if it was just a small order or somebody new at this point it’s best to warn them here.

    Hello KC, DCA a JFYI: Your hands knife edge trails behind your pinky and ends above the wrist. Your palm edge (from the palms thumb joint across the base and joins the hands knife edge just above the wrist). Hope I went deep enough in explaining that, just say'n! Hope all's well with everyone/thing. Ya'll be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 🙏😇👊

    I really want to own a benchmade knife someday, as I own 40 knives already, but I just can't pay that kind of money for that material. They are missing the market.

    I think whats happening is BM and other knife manufacturers are running out of ideas. They are now designing crazy looking knives and slapping $300 - $600 for a price tag. Im so thankful that i can get along just fine with my moras, swiss army and Buck 110.

    Apologies for the randomness of the question. I live in the UK so as guy are aware the laws here regarding knife carrying are utterly ridiculous.
    I have been considering buying either a Steenkamp or an Andre de Villiers knife. Are they worthy of the price? Would you recommend them as EDC carry for regular use? You strike me as a jolly nice chap, and well informed. Thank you for your work sir.

    The TOPS Pienero looks very usable, but they lost me at 1095. A knife that rides EDC in my clothing and gets used for food prep has to be stainless. Doesn't have to be a supersteel, even 440C would be better than 1095 for that application!

    • @nitetrekker
      @nitetrekker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I would agree about stainless, even though the knife is purpose build for defensive use, it would be a great knife for food prep and most likely get used for that by a lot of folks, including me. I would still get it and let it it patina if it weren't so expensive.

    Had pre ordered the full immunity but it got canceled as they don't allow knife center to ship internationally 😭😭. But the upside. It saved me way more than 300.closer to 500 by the time currency conversion is done.

    Because plenty of Americans don't know this: _Taiwan is _*_*not*_*_ the PRC._ If you're avoiding "Made In China," or if you're trying to at least avoid making purchases that might reward supply chains that fund or rely on cruelty and harm - a fantastic thing to do, in my opinion - Taiwan sometimes gets lumped in with China. Stuff from Taiwan tends to actually be at _least_ decent quality; often, it's downright excellent.
    For example, if you take a look at reviews for the Ontario RAT 1 & 2, and you can see generally positive feedback and praise for the Taiwanese-made RATs, while the Chinese-made ones are mostly met with negative feedback and confusion (from people expecting the quality Taiwanese manufacture which allowed Ontario's RAT folders to earn their good reputation).
    Spyderco's fanciest knives, for the most part, are from their Taiwan facility. Taiwan is also where all our microprocessors are manufactured... As much as China's leadership is at odds with the leadership of the US - plus all the humanitarian issues... Don't let our crap American education dissuade you from good knives and stuff, just because no one taught a whole bunch of us about the world. Just like how plenty of us have no clue that, in addition to American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands, America also includes Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands (I don't know _anything_ about that last one though).
    Anyway - yay blades!

    the part of the hand, isn't that called something along the edge side or knife side of the hand? in dutch for example "De snijkant van zijn rechterhand was rood en gezwollen." (the cutting edge of his hand was red and swollen). seems that there would be an equivalent in english. missed opportunity 😁
