My favorite is the Alpinestars A10. I tried a Leatt but it felt too heavy and bulky for motocross. The A10 felt lighter and slimmer against my body while still providing great protection. My chest and shoulder area were uninjured after a recent big crash.

Thx guys. After blowing up my shoulder last September and subsequent surgery in Jan ‘19 I went thru this exact same selection process. I don’t use a neck brace but agree w everything stated as pro/cons. I initially chose the Fox Raptor but within 3 months broke the shoulder pad off. RMATV contacted Fox and I got 100% refund! I then chose the Leatte HD 5.5 because of the durable construction & significant shoulder coverage. It’s a bit bulky but I have to work tomorrow lol. 10 months after surgery and my shoulder sux but I’m shredding... I love dirt bikes! Good vid!

How has the Leatt 5.5 been working for you? I had a severe shoulder dislocation with a torn labrum and looking for good future impact protection. I've read in some reviews the shoulder pads are loose or can break off?

@@PatrickRiggs33 I have the same problem with me, I had a shoulder operation, if you received a body protection, can you give a brand model? Does it protect your shoulder well?

@@sykrex5975 Yes I went with the Leatt HD 5.5. It does seem to protect really well I cannot comment on its effectiveness as I haven't had a severe crash with it yet though lol!

I purchased the Raptor Roost Deflector a few months back and really like it. It is a little heavy but it feels like you are wearing armor. Does not impede movement at all either. I wear an EVS neck brace with it and it sits a little taller than it did with my old EVS delfector but still works fine. I am planning on upgrading my neck brace to one that is more adjustable and that should allow me to dial in the fit. If max protection is what you are looking for, this is a good choice for you.

I’m looking for the most rib protection. The AStars seems like the only one that protects there. My TLD is comfortable and slim, but lacking in that dept

Some just choose not to wear one. Unlike the MXGP where it's required to where a CE certified chest protector, riders stateside can choose to wear one or not. I don't know why they wouldn't at least have some roost protection. That stuff hurts! - Chase

Hey I'm looking for a chest and shoulder protector to wear under an ADV jacket because it seems like the pads never hit in the right place when they are part of the jacket that leatt looks a little too bulky for under the jacket work the alpinestars looks about right just need some elbow pads anyone else got any experience wearing one under a jacket to replace the pads that come with a jacket? Thinking about getting a Klim jacket and ditching the pads for the body armor

Personally, I really like the Alpinestars Bionic Protection jacket. Great protection and pretty low profile for a jacket. It also doesn't hurt the wallet as much - Chase

Raptor is great but it is not at all good for neck brace riders. You have to have help to get it on and it is not real comfortable with a neck brace.
