@DaveDoesCambodia Hi Dave! I had a question for you. In the last several years, many Westerners (especially Americans) have been relocating to countries like Portugal, Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand, etc. for cheaper costs of living but locals have criticized foreigners for gentrifying and bringing up their costs of living... I don't know if you talk to locals often but have you heard such complaints from Cambodians? 😢
The Cambodian Government really need to change the name to 'Arrival document'. I see alot of confusión on Facebook and internet concerning the latter e-document.
🙂💚👍Thank You Dave some Great Information Watching from East Coast of Canada🙂💙👍Really liked that when you said a Person could live easily on a $1000.00 a Month.🙂❤👍
Dave -- if I fly into Phnom Penh from the US and spend a 2 or 3 weeks (or a month) before I BUS to Siem Reap - would it be best to get the year visa there ? More or less relax & recoup from the trip - sight see a bit - and do the visa 'there' the 1st year ? Seems like it's maybe $100 cheaper ($180) to do it yourself @ the immigration office (?) which would pay toward the stay there ? --- My thrifty / frugal self @ work here ? --- I'm excited already & it won't be until Sept. / Oct. most likely ! ❤👍🙏🤞✌🎯🍻
Don't cut it too fine in applying for the ER for the 12 months. If you stay in Phnom Penh for a month and then apply, your ordinary VISA will just about have expired. It can take up to 2 weeks to get the ER processed unless you know someone (if you know what I mean). I got my 12 month ER in 4 days arrived Monday night got the ER back Friday night. If I were you, apply for the 12 month ER as soon as you get to Phnom Penh. The passport is stamped there anyway. The advantage of this is that once you have the 12 month VISA you can then open a bank account, eg with ABA, you can buy an apartment (not a house or land), you can own a bike/scooter, legally. Also a bit easier to get a bike licence in Phnom Penh than Siem Reap which you need to ride anything above 125CC.
@@anthonycoleman1909 I have a question. Let's say I get the 12 month visa (retirement) but then after 6 months I actually want to legally start a business, can I change my retirement visa upgraded to a business or working visa. Even if I lost the $150 for the price of the last 6 months I would not even blink. The question is can I change my visa on the fly, or must I wait the 12 months to play out first. Hence then I would apply for a 3 month extension just to get me settled and begin the process of starting a business in Siem Reap. Thank you for all the info, I can not wait to get there, Canada sucks in the winter........lol
@KB3TLE if you're frugal fly into Bangkok and then transfer to Siem Reap. Flying into Phnom Penh is quite a bit more expensive. You wouldn't be saving $100 by staying in Phnom Penh to get a 12 month ER visa extension. You'll end up spending way more than $100 to "save" the $100 by not using a visa agent in Siem Reap. I got my ER extension for $290 in Siem Reap and the agent did 99.9% of the work, all that I had to do was sign the application.
@@KC-in9px If he flies into Bangkok, he could also do a nice cross country bus trip to Siem Reap, passing through Poipet. There are a few very good bus companies. I loved my ride from Siem Reap to Bangkok with Giant Ibis bus. ✈️ ☸️ 🌴 🌴 🌴 😃
@@robertwilliamson922 I've done the Bangkok to Siem Reap overnight bus trip on two separate occasions. It takes 10 hours or more depending on how busy Cambodian Immigration is at the Poipet border crossing. If you don't have a lot of luggage you can fly from about $60 and it takes less than an hour. If time is money $40 extra to skip the bus is my preference lol.
Thanks so much Dave. You have no idea how much I miss Cambodia and Thailand. I have to get back there before I die. My wish is to live my last few years there. Really don’t feel like I belong in Canada anymore. Take care. Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏼 ☸️✈️ 🇲🇲 🇱🇦 🇰🇭 🇹🇭 🌴 🌴 🌴 😃
Just get it online. It was easy, but you will also have to do another entry check in Sim Reap airport. That cost like 20 bucks or something, but I can't remember
Amazing. I must walk around with my eyes closed. I have never seen that little Ferris wheel. Thanks. I read somewhere the big one on the highway was going to be running again... any truth in that?
I just got the EVisa at airport. Seriously it took 2 minutes to type info in the IPads they have, paid the $35 and got the stamp after lining up for maybe 5 minutes and went through immigration in maybe another 5 minutes. At Siem Reap all 3 spots you have to go to do this are in the one hall and 30 metres apart. There are immigration cops there who are very helpful and will do the IPad stuff for you.
I like the idea of of doing it at the airport and making sure BEFORE YOU LEAVE the airport, that you have the correct visa with the correct stamp / I got my one way ticket later this month ✈️!!! Weeeee

Thanks for the updates and information. Do you have suggestions about the best way and things to watch out for getting from the airport to Siem Reap?

It looks like if you come from UK and use the Cambodia app for entry you can only get T visa for 30 days
I have come from the uk, the app doesn’t allow you to do the e-visa. Had to get a tourist visa. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

If you are talking about where you will stay, yes just have to show you paid and booked a room.
