Sermon - Jesus, Open Our Eyes - 4.7.2024

On the day of the resurrection "their eyes were opened" and the good news of Jesus' power over death and sin began to spread among the disciples by those who were the first to see Him. In this week's sermon we look at the story from Luke's gospel about Jesus walking with two of his followers on the road to Emmaus on the day of his resurrection. Unrecognized by them, but filling their hearts, he eventually breaks bread with them and then their eyes were opened...spurring on the message of his rising from the dead. How can this story of his mysterious appearance and vanishing open our own eyes two thousand years later?
